The parrot thing was really creepy and awesome. I'm loving this series.

"By the way, I don't get my skills from a pocket watch." Love it.

Gluttony, Lust, and Envy. I am so psyched.

The opening and ending themes seem like odd choices to me. Especially the opening theme. It doesn't fit the atmosphere of the show. There's always something "profound" said during the prologue...then this music plays during the credits. I don't understand the lyrics...but the melody seems off.

Hmm.
I didn't wanted to watch this anime, but everyone was calling it so good, so I decided to check it out... And I think it's pretty nice ^^. I hope it won't get worst later.
And ending is lovely. Nana Kitade = pure awesomeness x33

I love the religion metaphor. Many people cling to religion simply because it's easier than doing something for yourself or just dealing with pain and I think Rose and the other villagers did a great job of showing this.

it is good that people can believe in something and find there peace in it even if its fake as long as no one is sure it is fake it is a good thing.

this episode was again very good i think this is really a anime i will enjoy but maybe its to early to say.

Exactly!! I've seen far too much of that kind of thing. It's great that they're showing it like they did. I was hoping those villagers would wake up, but they're still wanting to believe in priesty pants. It's surprising that no one actually looked up at the birds to see that they all exploded after. Someone in the crowd should have noticed that. xD

They want to lure people to the town with rumours of the Philosophers Stone, but try to kill Rose so no-one finds out about it, eh?

Odd plan if any old amplifier does the same miracles.

That's something I didn't understand also when she said it. Weird. Also, I was confused about Al being free to steal the bell and such instead of being locked up like Edward, but they explained that one at least lol.

I wonder how the Gluttony, Lust and Envy thing will play out? No doubt this anime will have a lot of small story arcs and subplots, but I look forward to seeing a larger villain and primary story arc take form. -- 4/5

Those villagers... So easily deceived.

Kinda confused on what happened to the minister's arm though, or what automail is, or how the younger brother is even alive with all his memories intact but is a suit of armour with no brain...

Lots of questions.

So far though this anime seems pretty average to me, but I've told myself I will watch at least 2 episodes or 10% of the total series before I decide to fully drop an anime.

Next episode should answer some of your questions. Beyond that, I'd say the absolute point where you'll know if you want to keep going with this show or not is after episode 7.

(It's absolutely worth watching all the way through, though. Still, if you really want that definitive measuring point, episode 7 it is.)

Is there a reason the creators chose some Russian song about mothers to play in the middle of the episode or so? Aren't the creators and main viewer base located in Japan?

You think content ought to be limited based on where the creators are from?

The rest of the story above, it is interesting and at the same time fun. The story is explained one more time, this generates is less hesitation in those who follow the anime, as good choice. The OST is always fabulous, the character of the two protagonists is repeated again, good choice this.

I'm watching this show after I've already seen Brotherhood like 3 times, and it's nice to see these plot lines that were rushed in Brotherhood get more time. FMA is great as I expected, I just hope the ending isn't bad like so many people have said :P

From what I've heard/Read Brotherhood picks up from where FMA diverted from the manga it was made with the basis that you've watched the original or read the manga so it starts fast on purpose watching this then brotherhood.

Good episode that is a good way to do an introduction to a universe much better than a couple episodes of info dump and no action.

The presence of the supernatural does not make what someone says true.

Even so, in a world like this where alchemy is synonymous with science, you would think that these people would at least question the "priest's" so-called miracles more after everything that happened.

They still haven't explained how Eric can do transmutations without a circle, and at the beginning of the episode he seemingly made that stone wall without sacrificing anything. It's also unclear how they can make objects move and what the price for that is. If they were going to start the series with a hard-and-fast rule concerning the alchemy, they should be taking the time to explain how these other aspects work as well. They may as well be able to do literally anything except resurrecting the dead, the way things are now.

At least they definitively told us why Eric and Al want the Philosopher's Stone.
