| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Wow, no discussion thread for this exists? I was really interested in how much I recognized from this episode. I've seen many of these characters before, this must have been a really influential anime! I was pretty much enchanted by the first episode, and I expect great things from this show now. Too bad that so far the only english subtitled episodes are up to 23, I'm not looking forward to finishing the final episodes with a spanish dictionary at my side :( |

| I'm not really familiar with the series, I've never watched it and I don't know the characters. But this first episode was really enchanting and greatly delivered. I liked Hiromi's personality and I can only hope that Reika won't be the bitchy rival who plots dirty things against Hiromi. I'm more into the fair rivalry in this kind of shoujo. |

| Dat coach tho. Interesting first episode, especially the 'point of view' prologue. I wonder what kind of potential the coach sees in Hiromi. And Sugino Akio's character designs are as cool as ever <3 |

| Seem interesting enough. One thing though that is kinda weird about old shows like this is that you have these female characters that are smitten by their female senpai onto a point where it feels like lesbian love even though it's not that. |

| Woah, Hiromi had it tough in the movie version, but this feels like the tennis version of Whiplash. That coach is so hardcore you just have to wonder about the possibility of him simply being a cruel person. Unlike Andrew, however, Hiromi doesn't seem to want anything related to greatness. She's just a fifteen-year old klutz. I actually LOL'd during the scene in which she is crying behind the tree. Priceless voice acting. EDIT: Woah, are they accusing Hiromi of what I think they are? This episode was hardcore. |

| Lol that coach hitting balls into girl's faces. Must've been ping pong balls though, seeing how it didn't even seem to faze them >:-) When you see youngsters bidding themselves "Adieu" when they part ways, you can really feel how old this show is. |
| This looks so much like a 70s show because of all those colours, forms/lines and silhouettes. I wasn't ready for this after checking manga's scans and artworks. ^^" Apart from this, nothing to say. | First time I'm watching a shoujo sports,but this shoulde be fun. Poor Hiromi did nothing wrong and is already the most hated person in the club. Wonder why the coach picked her as representive, probably because he saw something special in her, tho that would be too easy imo, hope there's more to it. |

| This seems pretty interesting. Hiromi was certainly surprised that she was one of the five picked, but the coach must've seen something in her. She'll have to get good to earn the respect of the others who are now looking down upon her. Also, I just thought I'd mention that the audio preservation of this anime is quite impressive. |

| Feels like they jammed two episodes worth of content into this one episode. And I like the twist of Hiromi being picked but I also hate it when girls teams become this catty, which is honestly why modern sports anime don't have women teams I'm afraid. But I'd really like to see what she does with this. |

| "I love green apples!" Well I guess I already hate the MC, who the hell likes those things? Unironically though, I'm excited to watch this anime. So far, this first episode has got my attention. I love the artstyle, even though it has those obnoxious shojo sparkles. That unmistakably 70's soundtrack is really charming too. Getting some heavy Kashiwaba Eijiro vibes from that Munakata guy, all that's missing is him repeatedly saying that he hates tennis. |

| This was a good start, nice to see old school tennis, one handed-backhands, 70s dresses, wooden rackets. When Hiromi was watching a tennis magazine, I could recognize Billie Jean King, Margaret Court and a young Chris Evert. Über based show incoming. |

| I accidentally watched this episode a 2nd time, because it came up when I went searching for the remake. I can't believe how cheap the animation looks. The remake must be truly awful if THIS is the version translators thought everyone would want to watch. |
