THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
This is NHK, so we didn't get the "tea cup" scene in as much detail as in the manga, but it was still very good and very funny.

LOL way to go Sasuke you just found out something that Shino himself would never thought that someone would actually figure out his secret behind his tea cup.

This show is funny on a very strange way. The tea cup scene with all the inner talking and sudden comparisons was absolutely hilarious and I can't help but love Sasuke's dilemmas and expressions.

I wonder why 'Comedy' isn't a genre for this.

oh my goodness! I just LOVE this show!! To compare a drinking cup to a woman's body part xDD Oh LOOOOL!!! That's the power of aesthetics, I guess)))) I'm glad to have this comedy last for the rest of the year ^^

Such a subtle show.... humor, double entandre', and history abounds.

His wife is BRAVE.

I've dropped this series on this episode sadly D:

I really liked the OP too!

I guess I just don't really understand the viewpoints the anime is coming from, nor is there a defined goal except to "have pretty things" lol.

Wait. What? Was he making love to his wife while lusting after a tea bowl? O_o
Did he almost behead his own wife and she was fine with that? Double O_o

Interesting show so far. I like the subtle and at times odd sense of humor of this anime. Sengoku period is famous for many extremists that went to any extent to achieve their goals and holding up their beliefs in the war and we've seen far too many anime and manga dedicated to this period. But for the first time amidst all the warlords and samurais an extremist aesthete is spotlighted (in a comedic light at times). That's why this anime feels like a breath of fresh air in my opinion.

This feels more Japanese than anime in general (if that makes sense). For once it seems like having read Mishima Yukio actually helps me achieve a mindset in which this series is good.

This episode had a lot of great scenes. Some were hilarious, some were intense and some were both. Say about the contents what you will (I personally like them so far because they're unique and unpredictable) but I certainly love the way this show is executed.
I probably regret this post by now.

Would have been a cool bonus if they showed a condensed version of the tea ceremony or pottery making during the credits, even better for every art piece they debut in the episode. (Bartender anyone?)

But overall a really refreshing show to watch.

This is probably the most epic 2nd episode of an anime I've ever seen. Osen is a keeper!

Furuta Sasuke makes very funny faces. I started laughing really hard when I saw the cracks on the bowl resembling an areola.

This show is very unique with interesting and expressive characters. I also love the hint of political intrigue so far. After watching this, I have a strange craving for some tea.

Wait, so was he having sex with his wife while praising the tea bowl?

I'm lost with what's going on, but it's still quite interesting.

This episode was marvellous. A roller-coaster in fact.

Both the beginning and the ending were both poignant and beautiful and were supplemented with a brilliant score. Both also include the formal introduction to Senno Soueki who without saying much has portrayed himself to be a very astute and formidable individual whereby his mere presence renders someone like Sasuke speechless.

Once again the dialogue reigns supreme in this show. The comedic facial expressions of Sasuke where his role as an 'aesthete' overcomes his 'warrior' visage that he recently swore to bear into fruition is absolutely brilliant.

A brilliant blend of seriousness and comedy all revolving around Sasuke's infatuation with teacups. Incredible.

Recommend me some short Manga!

I guess the Kiyohide incident didn't change Sasuke after all, he's an aesthete to the core. I mean the guy let Araki go for a bowl, even after he told himself he'll only live for achievements.

I think Senno may know something about his actions.

I spent more time with looking up and reading wikipedia articles about the characters, ceramics, place names and cultural references while pausing the video than with watching the anime itself :D I love it, I hope art, pottery and tea culture remains a central element of this show in the future episodes too. My only complaint is the overusing of the troll-like facial expressions.

Still pretty confused on the story as I'm having a hard time with understanding the Dialogue. I think I might be a little too young to really understand this show but I'm enjoying it nonetheless!

The names of the characters are difficult to remember, but Sasuke is a follower of Nobunaga and he is looking for a recipe for tea lol, and who is this monk at the end of the episode?
