Do any of you ever rewatch anime you loved?

For me, not really. It's because I am currently busy with watching new anime, not to mention I have college and work, so I can't just sit down on my couch to binge anime whenever.

But whenever I do rewatch it's usually either movies (I rewatched Akira a few months ago), or just short 12-26 episode long anime (I may rewatch Samurai Champloo soon).

Sometimes I rewatch certain anime but only a few episodes of it, like Saint Seiya or Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

Yes, I'm rewatching Sailor Moon in the viz dub since I've only watched the 90s dub all the way until where they stopped dubbing it at the end of Super S (plus they skipped over some episodes as well).

Just this year I been rewatching 112 shows. I have some shows that I rewatch every year. I consider rewatch as important as watching as you can grasp details on second or third viewing that you won't find on the first one.

Not this year. I only watched one anime again which was Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. And look, it's not even my top1. The first time I watched it was in 2018 and the second time was 2021, at the time I watched it again because I had literally forgotten everything about Fullmental. But I honestly don't know if I have the courage to watch an anime I've already seen again, I usually watch a lot of bad/average and rarely any good ones, but as my time lately has been "golden" from how busy I am... I can only follow some of the season ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

But I intend to watch 3-gatsu no lion again, maybe, since the third season never comes out๐Ÿ˜”

@Shirayukin

I realized something from what you said

There are different types of rewatching. Like anime you'd rewatch after a while, anime you'd rewatch immediately, anime that are better off only watched once, etc.

@Fukoku Honestly, depending on if the watch order below bothers you or not, start from the remake, then whenever you're feeling up to it, you can either put the remake on-hold (Or watch through it, or if you chose not to watch it all, then eh, you're getting the same experience I had back in 2020) and follow this watch guide, which is how I went through it...

  • Episodes 1 - 21 (Be warned that the series was kinda rough during the first half of this set of episodes)
  • Special 2 (Special 1 is just recap nonsense, and can be skipped. Special 2 is listed on Crunchyroll as episode 21.5)
  • Episodes 22 - 58
  • Movie 1: Only You (It's dubbed, and same with the other movies, but after watching 58 episodes sub-only? Nah, stuck with sub)
  • Episodes 59 - 92 -SKIPPING 93(Recap)- Episodes 94 - 99
  • Movie 2: Beautiful Dreamer (For some odd reason, Crunchyroll doesn't have this one anymore. Pirate it... do it.)
  • Episodes 100 - 102 -SKIPPING 103+104(Recap)- Episodes 105 - 140
  • Movie 3: Remember My Love
  • Episodes 141 - 191
  • Movie 4: Lum the Forever (Optional, I think it adds very little to the series)
  • Episodes 192 - 194 (At least on Crunchyroll, the recap one is 194.5, which makes it easy to skip)
  • ALL of the OVA's, minus "Ryoko's September Tea Party" and "Memorial Album" (You'll HAVE to pirate these, though. Sadly... but they're all worth it)
  • Movie 6: Always My Darling (Trust me on this one)
  • Movie 5: The Final Chapter

This is how I watched all of it, and I think that I got the best possible experience from it this way. Sorry it took a while to reply back, I didn't have the convenient refrence list I had back in 2020 (Before I even had a MAL account) I used back then, so I had to remake it from scratch.

I think rewatching anime is like basking in a hot spring onsen naked with waifu—blissful ! Rewatching anime is like back into the emotional nostalgia of favorite series and catching those stuble details I missed the first time around.
I think of it as a love letter to the waifu that have captured my heart. So, I always go ahead, treat myself to a rewatch binge. There’s no such thing as too many times in anime!

I'm rewatching my favorite shows from time to time, but I'll do it again only under certain circumstances. First of all, I'm going to rewatch them after I've managed to watch all the finished shows in my PTW-List. Only 3 shows are an exception: Yu Yu Hakusho, Sousou no Frieren and Inuyasha.

Yu Yu Hakusho: I'm currently watching it with a friend of mine. This makes it my second rewatch.

Sousou no Frieren: I'm going to rewatch it, when the exact release date of the second season has been announced. Then I'm going to rewatch the first season and then start with the second season immediately.

Inuyasha: I'm only going to rewatch it in the german version. I can still remember being broadcasted in my country, but I was too young and not interested enough in this show to watch it back then. I kind of regret it now, so I want to catch up on it. Sadly, I haven't seen it somewhere available with the german dub, so the easiest solution for this problem might be an expensive one: buying all 7 dvd boxes, which cost 30€ - 50€ each.

@Daviljoe193 Question if I finish the remake where do I start in the Original. What episode that remake didn't cover.
@Kisaragi_Toka A lot. I wish I had a definitive list (I feel a bit dumb for not making notes, since I can recall most of the OG series' episodes easily.). All I can say is that the original is paced/executed pretty differently, and that even though the remake does cover a fair amount of what the original adaptation covers, it does so through trimming a lot of fat (And some meat, sadly) from how the OG did things. Some of it was for the better, but there are still a lot of cases where I preferred the original's versions. I especially prefer the heavier romantic/emotional moments from the OG that are less prominent in the remake.

So... I guess just watch the whole OG series from the start? Maybe take some time (A few months to a year) before doing that, if it seems like doing so might be exhausting after having already watched the 2022 remake. I know it's not a satisfying answer, and I really wish I had a better and more informed suggestion, but it's all I got. :\

I get where you’re coming from life can get so busy with college, work, and trying to keep up with new anime. It’s great that you still find time to revisit classics!

That said, sometimes rewatching older favorites can feel just as rewarding as watching something new. It’s like reconnecting with old friends those shows often hit differently when you revisit them with fresh eyes. But hey, everyone’s anime watching habits are different, and it sounds like you’re making the most of your time. Keep doing what works for you!
