Oh Marcille...I know she wants to help but using that type of magic is very risky. At least the Red Dragon threat is over. We also got some fan service featuring Marcille and character bonding.

The dish prepared looked exotic imo, compared to some of the others this episode. I do hope everyone in their party learned something from their latest conquest.

I didn't expect to learn about bone anatomy from this episode, that's for sure.

Laios and his companions emerged triumphant in their battle against the Red Dragon, marking the beginning of their quest to locate Falin. However, upon locating her, they found Falin's body already transformed into petrified bone. Despite their relentless efforts, the connection between her soul and body was too fragile to restore her to life. In a moment of desperation, Marcille risked invoking an ancient and forbidden magic to revive Falin. Exhausted, Marcille collapsed after casting the spell, but fortunately, it succeeded, bringing Falin back to life.

Trigger always comes through, and the directing during the resurrection spell was impressive. But finding out Marcille's into blood magic, or "dark magic" as Chilichuck calls it, was surprising. It's rare to see a blood mage not mess up everything – I thought they were just a myth from games like Dragon Age. Thankfully, the only noticeable effect seems to be Falin getting stronger, no turning evil or anything. I would've thought there would be a side effect other than a power-up considering it's called DARK magic, but it's fine. I thought our mission would end with saving Falin and defeating the dragon, but now there's this mysterious power boost for Falin and that elf who seems important...

And Marcelle not erasing the forbidden magic circle right away? That's just asking for trouble.

I mean it was their dedication which ultimately led them till this point, so getting to know the kind of revelations like Marcille knowing the arts of dark magic or heck her specialisation in it shouldn’t really come as a surprise, I mean we know how much she cared about Falin, and she’s kinda nerd when it comes to magic as well, so yeah, though anyways it was that magic and those magic circles which ultimately did the deed…

… Falin has been resurrected. She’s alive and kicking, though without a dress at that, but Marcille managed that anyways lol. We kinda saw her bond with Marcille in one of the previous episodes, but yeah, here we could see it in a more open fashion… like literally. The gang is looking alive, I mean they’ve achieved their goal so why not, so a dragon meat as a toast to success was the most right thing ever, EVER, lol.

Loved the episode, and those interactions, now that Falin is here, it feels complete. Though hey, that elf, that same creature from that painting, with the cliffhanger. Shit is about to hit the fan.

Falin is finally alive let's gooooo ToT. That resurrection scene looks so good.
Her abilities were enhanced, and I think the child she saw was a spirit, so I have a theory that she can use dark magic because of Marcille's spell now.
But don't kill the sword pls, I like it

Edit: Yes I'm dumb, she could always see spirits

Really happy to have Falin back, love her. Like brother like sister, she's also a monster enthuasist. Poor Marcille. Loved their interactions though. They went to such lengths to save her, even using forbidden magic. She's loved. Falin got a power up too, prolly cause of the dragon meat that was used to revive her.

Can't wait to see
. She looks so pretty like that.

Really impactful episode, one of the best so far, so glad that Falin is alive and I love her already. Interesting to see Marcelle using her black magic, I do wonder if that will have any repercussions at some point, but for now, this episode was nothing but happiness. Studio Trigger delivered when they needed to for sure.

Thought there would've been a twist its not actually Falin's body.Reincarnated using dragon meat prob what made her stronger.
Hilarious the way they revealed the sword to the party.Guess Kensuke is Falin's snack now.

No idea if it was intentional but the way they presented Falin's reassambled skeleton like any ordinary complete meal right before Marcille's dark ritual was morbidly hilarious.

You really can't get possibly any more metal than being revived with the flesh and blood of the dragon that ate and digested you before proceeding to bite into the first slice of a pizza topped with its meat. And Laios might actually be right, that stuff really does look incomparable to any other meat out there.

So Falin was able to be revived after all, I figured they wouldn’t leave her dead after all we’ve heard about her, and honestly I think that would have been a cool move but this show isn’t that dark, despite that tho we had a pretty metal scene where she got revived using all of her bones and the meat and blood from the dragon. This has me wondering if they actually needed every single one of her bones, would the resurrection have failed if they didn’t? Would she be deformed if they constructed her wrong? Those are questions that will probably not be answered, but I’m glad to see Falin is alive and well with no complications as of rn, it was also interesting to learn that Marcille has been studying forbidden/black magic, I can certainly see why it is forbidden lol.

And after a nice bath fanservice scene as well as a heart to heart between Marcille and Falin, it was time to actually eat the dragon that started all this in the first place, not before Senshi blew himself up tho lol. And the fact that Falin is now eating the dragon that ate her is another things that’s pretty metal although it was portrayed in a wholesome way, and we also saw that Falin can still see ghosts as the place they were staying was the home of one, I guess it’s good it allowed them to sleep there but I wouldn’t want to after knowing that lol. And lastly we saw that elf girl from the Mario 64 paintings a while back, I’m very interested in what she’s about here in the actual world.

And lastly, just in case the OP and ED changes as we near the spring anime season, I wanted to mention that they are both bangers and are definitely favorites of mine this Winter season, that Party ED was definitely an anthem for the weekend being close, I wouldn’t mind if it stuck around but of course I’m open for some new great songs.

Guys the elf at the end is clearly the elf from the paintings (which were clearly not ordinary living paintings as they appeared to be a legitimate portal to the past). I'm assuming this elf is also the mad wizard that created the dungeon. Wonder what trouble the psycho will cause.

There was no fanservice for ep 11 only to be given a lot of it in ep 12, I'm not complaining but it surprised me xD Serious Laios in a conversation with Falin, I don't know why but he made a big impression on me. Is yuri ship confirmed? Something strange is happening with Falin, is the dark elf interested in her? I love this anime, the mission to save Falin is just an introduction to a larger plot. ep 5/5

@Limi

@alshu

They probably were tired after all the things that happened to them that day and thought that they could do this later. And I need to say that only Marcille wants to delete the spell circle others don't think so much about it and don't know much about what Marcille does except the part where she uses a forbidden spell.
The elf (probably) was there because he felt Marcille's magic, the appearance of him there wasn't random.

Marcille is pretty strong from my impression of her, we also need to remember that all the people in that party are strong and experienced and the main reason that the party lost the first time to the Red Dragon was because they were in bad shape when they fought against him not because he was much stronger than them.

How do I reply to more than one person?

Glad I stuck with this show, first episodes were just alright but the last several have really gotten good. I particularly appreciate the animation and little details they regularly add, both visual and plot/lore-wise. I never noticed before but Falin has rather large hands and a large build overall, like her brother. Details like that give more character, IMO.

I'm really glad that Falin has been successfully resurrected. Marcille being able to use dark magic was surprising, but you have to give her respect for being able to use it to bring Falin back to life. It also led to an unexpected, but very enjoyable bath scene with Marcille and Falin talking together.

After that and also thanks to Senshi's recklessness, the group were able to use the insides of the dragon as an oven and cooked some yummy looking dragon meat and pizza, which made Falin especially happy.

However, while that was happening, an hooded elf girl wanders in and sees the corpse of the dragon and, more importantly, the circle that Marcille made. Not only that, but I think this elf girl is the same character from the episode with Laios going through paintings, so I do have my worries as to what this girl is doing here.

Overall, the first half of this series has been really fun and enjoyable. I look forward to seeing what the latter half will bring, both in terms of story and, of course, the food that Senshi and the others will potentially cook up! =D

What a massive asspull.

This is writing 101, don't pull out stunts in the heat of the moment. Making Marcille an expert in black magic is just another level of cheapness. Kinda reminds me of the cheap writing in Kanata no Astra with glasses-kun being able to build and repair anything in a spaceship out stranded in the middle of another galaxy.

I know for sure more than one will say "bUt sHe hAs bE3n StUdInyIng bLack maGikS wItHoUt teLlIn anYoNe" and with that line of thought she could also be studying rocket science and people should buy it just because the author said so. The icying on the cheap narrative is that she also knows human anatomy just as good or even better than an actual physician. Also quite convenient that the dungeon only keeps humanoid souls trapped but any other creature they are free to go (don't want to resurrect your waifu with half dog soul, don't ya?)

And of course, the fanservice also has to be part of the narrative, because how else can you keep interested on the horny kids that watch this show just for the waifus.

Well Falin is back and I think everyone is happy about that, because that was the main goal all along. She was psyched that they had been eating monsters all along and wanted to know which ones and how they tasted 😂 leaving that dark magic circle open was a mistake because we saw the elf from the paintings which I guess her name is Thistle only know that from looking through cast list. I wasn’t expecting Marcille to be a genius on bone anatomy or to be practicing dark magic in secret, but it is what it is 😛

@Kimurah Do you even pay attention to the shows you watch?

It was established in a previous episode that Marcille studies dungeon magic and researches dungeons. Further, it's established that dungeons are a complex ecosystem which requires a strong knowledge of life and death. Maybe pay attention to the "cycle of life" narrative and theme instead of complaining it was explained to you. And before you say anything, yes, dungeon magic does have relation to resurrections. Again, this was established in earlier episodes. It's not hard to make the connection, but I suppose you need it spelt out to you.

Kimurah said:

Actual physicians know anatomy quite well. It's a reasonable connection that one needs this knowledge for healing magic which forces your body back together, which again, was established. Try again.

Also "the icying" lol.

Dungeon Meshi has to be one of the least "waifu-bait shows" out there. It's hilarious you say this given your rating history is ogling male-gaze centered romcoms and magical girl schlock. I guess it only counts when you want to pretend the writing is bad?

Anyways, please go on and cry about fan boys and karens. Or how I took a peek at your public post and rating history. It's really funny.

@Kimurah Blud really looks for anything to hate, I honestly respect the grind.

I'm not going to say this show is the best achievement of writing ever, but this is a narrative tool to set up bigger stakes, plus there were earlier signs of Marcille knowing more than she should, like her knowing what Golems are made of even tho she said dealing with those is forbidden.

With Falin's bone remains left in pieces, Laios wants each and every piece together, though Marcille cautions the link between body and soul, not to mention...twice the calories with dragon meat to restore her, which she is actually capable of but less spoken of. It's a very advanced ancient skill, and Laios take the plunge to sort out between her remains and Warg remains, which is easier said than done, and piecing each and every correct human bone to complete the skeleton. So then, with the skeleton all in place, Marcille's forbidden revival magic is conducted, and Falin...manages to get revived in perfect order. Of course, it's a good time to cook up a celebratory meal, and Marcille is relieved that she's fine, with her mana and all. It sure took a lot of pain to get her revived, and it should be the least of her worries as the group now needs to backtrack their way up to the surface.

Senshi going back to the red dragon and trying to start a fire....they forgot about its fuel organ which easily ignites, and Falin's chants become instantaneous to protect them from harm. Instead of using the meat, using its fire as a gas chamber, it's an exotic meal of dragon meat and pizza. This is something new to Falin s her brother gets obsessed with dungeon food to tell her stories about it. the most prominent being the Living Armour weapon embodied with the sword.

At the very least, Falin now completes the gang together once again, and can rest easy. The thing is, Marcille's forbidden magic circle isn't quite erased...and that attracts another elf's attention: the elf from the painting. Yikes...

Easily favorite anime of the season for me.

Also lmao at the fact that both Laios and Falin seem to have a desire to try and eat monsters. You can definitely tell they’re siblings.

Another great moment was with the young girl ghost, just showing how natural Falin is with “ghost” magic, and I love how comfortable Laios is with it. It’s only been an episode and I can already tell how much they care for each other.

Ending conversation with Laios and Falin was my favorite part of the show.
