As soon as I identify the anime as bad, immediately I drop it like it's hot and move on ASAP...

there's no point in continuing, so how do you all keep watching anime you already identify as bad (in your opinion) and why?

I also to drop bad shows as quickly as possible. I don't see any point to continue watching if it annoys me too much.

I usually fastforward scenes more if a series is too bad, and if I think the whole episode failed too badly to entertain, I just drop it.  I used to be more of a completionist, but that caused me to burn out of watching much stuff until I just drop bad anime.

I don't know how people manage watching shows they hate either. The folks with no drop policy just feel mentally ill to me. I think they must have some mental urge that forces them to finish those shows.

Nowadays I'm the same. Anything I don't like I just drop. However I used to finish as many "bad" shows as I could. In my case Sword Art Online had one of the best concepts in anime, so I pushed myself to finish the first season hoping it would get better. Then when I saw season 2 wasn't going to be any better, I dropped it.

So I guess people may have similar experiences. Certain shows are worth checking out till the end to see if they can get good. It also depends on a persons attention span. If you have short attention span, then you'll likely drop anything bad immediately. Again I'm the same these days, although that wasn't the case when I first started out.

I used to never drop shows and still dislike doing so. I think I just had to know what would happen, and if I dropped it then that would mean I would never know how it ended. Which to me missing out on a piece of information no matter how minute it is really bothers me. A lot of the time I will rewind a scene over and over because something in my head tells me to.

It takes to simultaneously really bore me and annoy me to drop something, otherwise I keep going because I want to see how something finish or plays out.

Back Arrow was a terrible show, but it was so crazy I wanted to see what would happen in every episode.

Cant relate to that type of thought process
The only bad shows that I managed to finish were redo of heal & school days and it was quite an ordeal to finish

(I still don't know why I wasted so much of my time by reading that many chapters of garbage shittyass mangas like bleach and black clover)

What if the series gets better after few episodes?

Another reason is it allows me to rate it lower

How to watch a bad anime:

Step 1: Put episode on.
Step 2: Watch episode.
Step 3: Repeat until there are no more episodes.

As for why, completionism and because I want to be able to have a proper opinion about something having seen all of it, not 1/12 of it. Sometimes things get better or surprise you. We just had a show last season in Love Flops that, if you dropped at the first few episodes, you really didn't have a clue what it's about.

Simple answer: because I am stubborn af. I’m always holding on to the minuscule thread of hope that it will eventually click for me, no matter how unrealistic or intolerable it is. So far it’s only paid off once or twice after a couple dozen instances (-_-;) Maybe I’m secretly a masochist…

There have been instances where I realized how a show I had previously judged to be bad was actually pretty good after watching some truly awful shows of the same genre/theme, so I force myself to watch stuff I dislike sometimes.

"Sometimes" is the keyword here, though, I wouldn't touch Guilty Crown again even if you paid me.

I just open up a beer and watch it, if a one is not enough than another one, do that as long as the show will not begin to be interesting.

If beer doesn't help than Vodka or Slivovitz should be a good option.

In reference to watching bad anime, I pull from the wisdom of one Char Aznable. "I came here to laugh at you."

What I mean by this is start poking fun at the series for its shortcomings, take it in with a less than serious prospect of watching. That is how I get through utter garbage.

Depends, some shows are bad but make me curious to see where the hell this is going, or end up entertaining me because of how bad they are, while others don't even do that, so I drop them.
Who are you and why do you show your hostility towards a complete stranger whom you've not once spoken with before. Are you seriously asking to get blocked? Well, if that's what your intent is; to tempt me into throwing hands with someone as lowly and insignificant as you, then i may grant your wish provided you articulate yourself a bit better when trying to spite a person of my wavelength.

My method is through multitasking, I'll watch while I'm doing something else. My reason for wanting to finish them at all is that all anime have some value to get out of them.

Anime I consider "bad" are immediately dropped, with a few exceptions. If the "bad" anime has a character(s) I like, I'd continue watching to see what happens to them. Or if the premise is interesting, I'd hold on with the hope that the show would get better.

I used to watch both good and bad shows about 2 to 3 years ago. Now that I know the good from the bad and have much less time, I don't even pick up the bad ones, and it's pretty easy to do tbh

In the past I somehow finished them, as didn't want to drop. Took weeks or months to finish and watched other stuff inbetween. But now I basically watch 20% of episodes and if deem bad, drop, move on.

I'm sure youre talking about shows you personally dislike and regarding that I'm the same as you and just drop it.

On the other hand tho, there are some shows that are objectively bad or at least not good but for example isekais are my guilty pleasure, so if its not ridiculously bad, I'll watch most of them regardless.

Spite usually.

I wanna be able to explain exactly why I don't like something in case someone comes at me. Besides, it's not that bad if you only watch an episode or 2 a day/week.

Once i make it through 3 episodes, i'm in it for the long haul unless it gets super boring. Fun bad and entertaining bad can have some value but once i get bored, there's no chance i'll finish it.

If they are, I put them in my on hold list. I promise I'll come back.

If it’s something that it seems like most people think hihhly of, I try to finish it just so I can form a full opinion of it and posisbly make a review of it. I would like to know what I’m talking about when I bash something I think is bad.

most bad anime on my completed list were decent until the last few episodes. Or like a gradual decline. So I just keep watching to see if it can salvage itself.

What's wrong with rating a show before finishing it? If I have watched 50% of the episodes and they were all laughably bad then I see no issue dropping it and giving it a score of 1.

I just try to be very patient, which is something I know a lot people these days can't deal with. But I really don't like dropping shows which is enough for me to give me satisfation to complete a bad anime... unless the anime in question is a Shounen that has hundreds and hundreds of episodes then I'm fucked...

I usually just sit through them anyway, especially when I think they are a 5-6/10. For shows which I rate 3-4/10 I usually watch them as far as I can and when it gets too unbearably stupid I speed them up to 1.5x or even 2x speed and rush through them.

But one of my New Years resolutions for this Year is to be more aggressive with dropping terrible/bad shows (3-4/10). I don't really want to waste my time anymore with trashy shows.

If I have only seen a few episodes then I drop it as it doesn't make sense to waste so much time watching the remaining episodes. If I have seen 2/3 of the show then I just finish the remaining episodes by watching at 2x speed or scrubbing through the episode

Same reason as to why I used to keep practicing martial arts despite having bad colds: I consider it a challenge and therefore "won't lose" to it. So, even if I didn't have my no-drop policy, I would still refrain from dropping an anime.
Might be a bit too stubborn for my own good.
