| Yet another oxcart, and from it, releases a handkerchief so alluring that she's a playful character releasing a skeleton "monster". Of course, she's none other than Shutaro's pretty little lil' sis Ryoko requiring a red carpet for her arrival for just about anything, even delivering a lunchbox that's 4 days old but bizarre and rotten. But given Ataru's womanizing personality, he would rather still eat, even if it's trash. But damn, the prank-filled sis sure has her moments of taking advantage of her brother, and Ataru would be happy with just about any other girl. So then, it's a trip to the Mendo estate for Ataru for the New Year's party, not forgetting Lum, Benten and Oyuki, even Rei. Shutaro's house is massive, but Ryoko's playful tricks that not even the young master himself knows, this is a strange party full of twists and turns at every corner, filled with the most bizarre of events that's like traversing through The Game of Life. Oh well, what a fitting episode as Urusei Yatsura takes a break for the New Year and returning 2 weeks later. rassilon said: Nope, it's taking a break for the New Year, then continuing from there.Is this a split cour? | Ryoko Mendo, the original Kodachi Kuno is finally here! And I'm all for it! Marina Inoue did a good job voicing her. She also voiced the main character of RINNE Sakura Mamiya which is another Rumiko Takahashi anime. Hope we'll see Ryoko in action more. I think some of the jokes worked better in the original anime (episodes 50 and 185 for those who are interested) but meh. I loved the 2nd part. It's a bunch of random insanity which is what Urusei Yatsura is known for. It added characters like Sakura, Benten, Oyuki, and Rei who weren't in the original manga or anime and that's what made this episode for me. Though why wasn't Ran invited? :( WOO. Episode 12 will FINALLY introduce Jariten... Does anyone know who'll voice him yet? There will be no Urusei Yatsura episode next week which sucks but I can wait. Thankfully the wait isn't too long. |

| Ryoko is my favorite UY girl, although she doesn't appear much. I just love how she can keep this surface polite lady-like personality in spite of being a huge troll. I like the purple accent to her hair here too. Anyway, the additions to the second story were neat. Oyuki and Benten are listed as part of the main cast for this anime even though they don't appear much in the manga, so I expect they will get a few extra appearances like this one. |

| Mendo's little sister Ryoko is one amusing girl. Things got a lot livelier since her arrival. They even played a board game with everyone as the pieces and the entire house as ths board lol. The girls looked cute in yukata. |

| Man, I was hoping Mendo's father would have Kamiya Akira as his seiyu, in the same way Ataru and Lum had their old seiyu. Guess he's too expensive nowadays. Voice actors lines cut off occasionally, which was weird. Otherwise, pretty enjoyable episode. |

| At first I thought it was Mendou's mom again in the Oxcart, but it was Mendou's sister Ryoko who has come to school to play pranks on his brother. Then she invited everyone to the Mendou household for New Year's only for it to turn out that they were apart of one huge board game. |

| I haven’t made it far enough in the original to have seen a lot of Ryoko but the few times she’s appeared have been great, and I loved her here in the remake. Her introduction was just as hilarious, I love how she’s such a trickster all the time, I feel she could become one of my favorites given enough time, she already kinda is lol. Also respect to Ataru for eating moldy food if it’s fed to him by a beautiful babe lol. And I haven’t seen this particular New Years bit in the OG yet but I really enjoyed it, another prime example of Ryoko being a crafty mastermind, this time with the help of her family minus Mendou lol. The real life board game is a really fun idea, and the Mendou family are probably the only ones that could pull it off. I was also happy to see Oyuki and Benten again, tho sadly Benten was kicked out of the game for breaking the rules and Oyuki got pissed because she was fooled regarding something as special as money lol. I also just enjoyed seeing the ladies in kimonos, always a nice New Years staple in anime, and the fireworks saying “very happy new year” was a great way to end the last episode before next year. And since this is the last episode this year, I wanna say I’ve been absolutely loving this remake so far, it’s been interesting watching it as I slowly make my way through the original as well. I’m not sure if this OP and ED will change but they’re both absolute jams and I wouldn’t be upset if they’re the same in the next half of this part. And I’m also surprised to see Ten is coming next episode, I was convinced he was cut out of the remake since he hasn’t appeared yet and he’s in what we’ve seen so far in the OG, but I’m happy we’re finally getting him soon! |

| Ah yes the end of year sale always a hectic time for shoppers. Mendo's mother's disdain for tech really put her in a bind when it comes to needing to travel huh. The lunch rush is packed as ever. But Ryoko's entry sure proved to be eye catching. The contrast between the nature of the siblings though sure were striking. Looks like finding amusement is the core of her nature. New years day sure provided quite a lot of stimulation for us in the form of the girls in kimono. The mendo family home sure was vast. But proved to be the perfect venue for Ryoko's games. Didn't expect his parents to be like that as well though. But to think that all this planning was a result of a board game though amusing. But wow what a visit this turned out to be for Ataru and his friends. Not something easily forgettable thats for sure. |

| I can't believe Mendos grandfather is frozen in a block of ice. Now he knows that you Do not mess with Oyuki and money! On the other hand Ryoko is such a trickster. | The cow is walking in 4fps is considered incognito. The queen of chaos and trolling's introduction is alright. I'm little disappointed with Lum only bites on Ataru's arm instead of his butt lol. They need to show more of her little fangs when she opens her mouth, it's kinda missing in some episodes. The second half is a pure chaos and insanity that I missed from UY. After the rewatch for the exact New Year episode from the original, I can say that the OG's one is way funnier than the new one even though I really like some welcomed addition like Sakura and Rei put into an eating mochi contest and Oyuki liitle showcase of her "wrath" just from being tricked by the grandfather. And that bamboo rocket is a substitute for christmas tree rocket since they are making it a Happy New Year theme instead of christmas, pretty cool. Next two week we are getting the fire-breathing cousin, Ten! If they try to adapt it closely, I hope they adapt the watching XXX movie scenes XD, it would be great. |

| Super fun episode, especially coming off of last week's episode which was insanely dull. Ryoko's a super fun character so far. I really do love characters who act all innocent and such, but is actually a complete troll. Especially love how the second half was set up as some sort of Takeshi's Castle sort of deal. Urusei Yatsura's humor is always the best when it involves the characters getting into the most bizarre of situations, so I'm glad we have another episode taking advantage of that. Not really much more to say, just a solid episode. I'll wait for Ten to make his first appearance next year. |

| this was such an enjoyable episode. the mendo new year party was so fun to watch! i'd give this show an 8 or 9 tbh. i love comedies like these. a great way to have a few laughs at the end of the day |

| One of the best parts of seasons ends and seasons starts, you run out of shows to watch and deep dive what you havent given a chance. And damn, cant believe I missed this beauty. Just binged what all eps. Fantastic. Best Christmas gift ever! |
