Mm, an episode dealing with a rare species of plants. How interesting. Also, it looks like William decided to be a teacher at an university.

Meanwhile, we see that there's a grudge again among the families in this show. Gotta say, they're pretty good at expressing this anime's family relationships.

Great episode again, this is very good.

That viscount deserved what was coming to him, I was curious if the grapefruit would react with his medicine and that did end up being a case.

Crimes that are done to save people huh? Interesting.

I guess you could say that the nobleman got a "taste of his own medicine". Hahaha, pun totally intended.

But on the serious side, this was a great episode. I was right in thinking that there was something William put on the food that the nobleman ate, but what took me by surprise is how it was executed. Another great show this season, and with Production I.G. having three shows for this season, it looks like this and Haikyuu are the community's favorites so far.

It was obvious how they were gonna commit the murder but it was still quite exciting.

Hopefully the couple will live a happy life and have more kids in the future.

Yeah... They got away cause that's what the story required, but here it loses some points with me.

I mean, The Viscount was sick, and it was easy to assume it was natural death, but are we just to accept that his own doctor, who not only prescribed, but also was knowlegdeble enough to make the medicine, would not examine his client's body nor know the crossed effects of the grapefruit?

And then employees, who had a good reason and were known to hold a grudge against the Viscount, not only were present at the moment of death, but fleed immediately after with a reccomendation from the only other three witnesses. Of which, by the way, one of them had been seen talking openly about that on a bar where he standed out as a sore thumb.

I'm still enjoying the show, but if this is really supposed to be a perfect crime, I guess my expectations were too high.

No real plot twist this episode, was quite obvious that the murder was going to happen from minute 1, and once the connection between the gardener, rare plants, and the man's quinine medicine was formed, it was pretty simple.

Sure am curious how they got away with it though. That's something that I'd like for them to touch upon more, especially with the case in Episode 1 and here.

Another lowborn folk needed for the rescue of Moriarty, and growing fruits for the "noble" cause...yep, society rules again for the reckless nobles, in this case, the typical viscount to a powerless husband and a traumatic wife and her young son.

Quite a massive change of content from the manga a.k.a Chapter 2, but don't get me wrong, it's still as great, and the symbolism staying the same. "The One Grapefruit Pie" for a death moniker, I'd thought that Moriarty would ask the couple to poison the drink, but it did MORE THAN THAT by subverting Michelle's pressure to kill first, and then laying the foundation for a deadly combination of grapefruits and drugs.

Damn was this yet another great episode.

This show is so satisfying. It's like a badass squad of noble hitmen lol. But ya I can get what some are saying about this being pretty suspicious. At the same time I'd wonder if ppl would ever accuse powerful nobles of such a thing. And they could always spin it as "oh we tried to warn him not to drink his medicine" or "we didn't know it would have negative side effects with grapefruit and just freaked out etc." If there was literally no other witnesses then they can just say he had an irregular heart thing out of no where and immediately chugged the medicine. When you have word from 3 other well liked nobles, I don't think ppl would look into it much further.

The viscount did not help the families child and that came back to haunt him when he was near death.

This episode was entertaining from start to finish. I think what stood out was how relatable the gardeners life was to the childhoods of William and Louis. Just a horrible life with nobles abusing their power and being treated unfairly because he has a lower status.

Well viscount got what he deserved.

Good episode :)

Another noble problem solved. I wonder how they managed to get away with the crime tho. The gardener and his wife suddenly quit on the very same day the viscount died from the grapefruit they fed him? Moriarty and his bros can say that they didn't know and save their own asses but didn't the viscount's family think the other two were sus...

And as usual, the episode ended with bleeding ears caused by the worst ED song of the year.

...and for this episode, tbh I prefer the storyline in the manga. It's like ... makes more logic? and flows...although, perhaps it will be fit for 2 episodes.
This one looks like they are trying to summarize the story but the result was too rush 🙇 I hope that the next episode won't be like this ... or the introduction to Moran and Fred will be less than good.

As some have already pointed it out, this show is very sastifying.
Also, the progression of the episode was well-done. Even though it was obvious they would kill the viscount the way they did it was cool. The man got what he deserved.

I don't think the viscount deserved to die for that. The only bad thing he did was decline the services of his doctor. It was a dick move but ultimately, it was his choice. There wasn't any corruption or evil. He simply didn't care about the commoners. From what I've seen so far, this group's focus seems to be getting revenge on nobles. Serving justice is just an inadvertent consequence. This show might just be a niche for people who hate aristocrats or like seeing people get payback.

I dunno, I would also look for a job if my employer died in unfortunate circumstances.... like who could predict that this fruit would had this side effect while ingesting with quinine? I mean no one had an education in medicine in this room, so who could predict this?... if only his doctor was there... :'(

Not a bad episode. It was pretty heavy handed in setting the reason up for the crime.... but it's all drama. I did look up the medical interactions of grapefruit and certain drugs. It appears to be a real problem in that grapefruit can allow certain families of drugs to be absorbed too much and thus be too effective. Viscount's heart medicine lowered his blood pressure too much with grapefruit juice in his system. Not a bad plot twist based in reality.

Yeah, Moriarty did an amazing job to step up the problems and gave them a suggest to killed that nobleman. Such a shame the nobleman had no clue he was inside the trap until the very end. And no after credit scene made me wonder, how everyone not questioning much about the whole situations? Where was Sherlock on these time? Lol.

Left aside my silly question, its nice to see how Moriarty effort to learnt well on his little situations, a little chance, to gave a perfect crime conditions to execute. He even needed to check on everything at the library to had a very details knowledge with the basic of some ingredient. As a result, yeah, a perfect chain happened which was so effective to kill him in an instant without any contact needed. He indeed just gave a little advice, while every step executed as a plan by that unfortunate couples. Well, i hope its resolved their grudges and wishes no one ever smelt the scheme, ever.

Okay, next method, please, Moriarty!

The theme of "just desserts" continues. Moriarty's form of justice is in a morally grey area which makes the show intriguing but also allows the viewer to ponder on what is right and wrong.

As soon as the viscount mentioned medicine, I knew it would be the key to his demise. Seeing how broken Michelle was, I can't help but enjoy the crime this time. I'm glad to hear that she and her husband have a better life waiting for them in London. It was a nice little bow to finish this episode.

In the Internet age it is well-known, but the interaction of grapefruit juice with certain drugs including quinine was first described in 1989 and the mechanism of action was established around 1998. So unless Moriarty's research visit to the British Museum's Reading Room included the use of H.G. Wells' Time Machine, there is no way he could have known about the adverse drug interaction between grapefruit and quinine back in the 1880s-1890s.

But what I am the most worried about is that it feels so episodic already, with the side characters of the week probably never to be seen again. I could be wrong, but that is the vibe I am getting. (I have yet to read the source material or anything.)

I think you have a very valid opinion, but there's a lot of symbolism that reveals the class differences in society that are applicable irl like the growing gap between the rich and poor; when there's enough billionaires making so much money and a lot of working class ppl getting by paycheck to paycheck, it doesn't feel right.

I won't ask you to like the show or anything, but try comparing certain scenes to real life/stuff you see on the news and maybe you'll have a change of heart/mind.

I really wish the script wasn't so on-the-nose with the way the aristocrats talk down to the poor. Makes it really unbelievable. Even if those are their internal thoughts, no one would be that blunt out loud. They'd talk in circles, make excuses, or just ignore them. Apathy is far more likely than outright malice. If you really considered someone to be beneath you, you wouldn't bother opening the door just to yell at them.

Having that couple bang on the door for help, but no one comes to answer despite there being lights on and movement inside, would have been more believable. Then switch to a scene to the interior where you see the Viscount enjoying dessert or something, while telling his wait staff to ignore the couple, despite clearly hearing them beg for their sons life. Or have the Viscount send a butler to the door to lie that the doctor isn't there. Instead this show has the Viscount himself standing in the doorway and basically yelling "I don't care if your son dies because you are low class!" .....Give me a break.

Clearly the writer wants us to hate these aristocrats so we enjoy their deaths and hand-wave away the morality of their murders due them being such obvious assholes. But good lord I wish it was executed with more subtlety.

I did like how this time the murder was built upon the Viscount's pre-existing health condition and his particular fascination with rare plants. This way it seems like an accident from the get go and they didn't need to do much cover-up of physical evidence. However, it's still extremely suspicious that the Viscount would die so soon after new visitors come to town. I wanted to see Moriarty's manipulative tactics at work as he lies through his teeth to the wait staff and police that go investigate. Skipping over that juicy stuff for a farewell at the train station isn't nearly as satisfying.

I also liked how Moriarty mentioned that the shared burden of the crime strengthened the couple's bound, with how that mirrors the 3 brother's own lives.
