welp, that's a twist. it's either some 4D chess move from Abby to push Edamura to trust his dad like that or just a fuck up. even tho Edamura's trust swings, i still think they will end Edamura's dad all these years loving his family, holding to that ring and this all was just a big ploy to bring down the mafia and all that jazz

anyways, we'll see how it goes

I knew Edamame's dad was gonna betray and wow that was fast and this guy is rotten to the core. Unless that was also part of their plan ofc.

Didn't expet that - because I forgot about the background story from the father. But when they started with this ... I remembered "hey maybe he was the lawyer of that company" ... and they pretty early announced the company name then.

Surprise to see the father back again. Let's see how this develops. Seems Laurent knew about the father - but I bet he thought they could use him. (And didn't expect that he'd lay a trap.)

I have no idea if Edamura's dad is just a rotten jackass or if this is another ploy.

Honestly saw that twist coming from a mile away. The father acted so suspiciously. I mean he appeared out of no where and joined his son's side for seemingly no reason as soon as he saw him again. Edamura was really far too quick to trust this time, although the show did make it clear as to why he was so trusting. As everyone else mentioned, I can see this being another trick by the con artists though. They do like to mess with the heads of the viewers and the bad guys.

Man, it was pretty obvious his dad was going to betray him. It seems like he was always in the business of human trafficking, long before he met Edamame's mom. He was way too willing to go along with Edamame's plans.

God Damn I saw It Coming but didn't manage to shake my anger from his dad.
I wonder where this is going to go next or if his dad really is a glorified douche or just going along with a plan of his own like Laurent did in the the first arc.

Pretty solid episode so far though.

Edamura's family background seems like a happy one...until the same occurrences would carve a stone in his personal life. Child trafficking then and now, his dad will and forever always be a traitor.

Otherwise, the mafia confrontation, the bubble's gonna burst anytime soon. But the case in point, is seeing the released dad be in the same business yet again, as the Shanghai interpreter. That is more than enough to make the abandoned son in fury, and Laurent's reason for Edamura to face his cowardice of a dad truthfully.

With it, the total escape plan in action with the abandoned kids, but of course, the fruition didn't go so well due to the scumbag of a dad. Bamboozled? Yes and no.

Can't believe I was fooled and actually believed his father would redeem himself. Turns out he really is an irredeemable bastard. Though he may be playing some 4D chess, will see, but damn I really am angry atm.

Makoto's dad man... my guy was playing 4D chess over here, ratting out his own son to Ishigami and still serving the Suzaku Group while pulling out a gun and placing it against his son's temple like that.

It was obvious that he was going to betray his son seeing how his reaction was when Makoto kicked him into the room and confronting him after many years, since he spoke too easily and went to help him out way too easy so the suspicion was there, which turns out to be true when Makoto was trying to save the kids and drive out. Now Makoto, Cynthia and Abigail and the kids too are in some pretty deep shit there.

Is Makoto's dad just a natural scumbag who was long in the child trafficking business while his son was young, or is he playing 5D chess and playing the part somehow of being with the Suzaku group for some particular reason, so far that he would rat his own son out temporarily to still not lose his allegiance with them (especially if its a Laurent ploy and he is faking the gun spot towards his son for that sake). That's the questions that come from me when thinking about what's his real motive behind all of this.

Good episode though, and I liked seeing Abigail talk to Makoto about his father, she's definitely close enough with him now to read him like an open book. Her comradery has progressed nicely with him throughout the show.

I'm not entirely sure whether Makoto's dad is a piece of shit who betrayed even his son, or if this is part of a bigger plan.

I mean you can't just spent 10+ years working for the head of the mafia without either being 100% loyal to them or being some kind of special agent.
"I was forced to do so" works for months, not years, and after that you either have a mental breakdown and end up dead or you start to think "it's not that bad" and join them.

Almost 100% sure Makoto's father betraying his son's expectations (again) is just another plan of Laurent.

Wow, must suck for Edamura, but at this point you gotta expect that this is also just part of a greater scheme.

We have 2 options: Edamame's dad betrayal is genuine or its just another Laurent's plan.

I’m hoping Makoto’s betrayal is part of the plan........HAS TO BE......I feel SO bad for him. He still believed in his dad. That was a fucking tight slap to his face, he was so upset........

I’m really liking Makoto. He’s a great guy. If the betrayal weren’t part of the grand scheme of things, I think it would really set him up for even further character development. If it were, then pretty predictable.

I was wondering if Edamura's dad was gonna show up in the series again after knowing what happen to him in the first case.

Any one find it funny that after Edamura found out the interpreter was his dad he ditched that one guy went looking for Laurent and clothelined him. That was hilarious!

It took him quite a lot of time to figure out who that man was xD His dad.. the scumbag, the real deal... They succeeded but at the end they got caught again.

AND I KNEW IT! That his dad would fucking betray him again.. You could see him with his phone against his ear, giving information and stuff.. What a loser..

Well it seems some people don't deserve a second chance. Nice happy family reunion for Edamame with a bit of betrayal there of good ol dad. Got the feeling Laurent had this all incorporated in his plan somehow.

I knew Makoto shouldn't trust in his father... As the comment above said: there are some that don't deserve a second chance.
But it's also predictable Makoto wouldn't resist to his inner feelings about it, giving a chance right after Oz's performance to him (the facade tactic is always the best choice/recommended piece in this the game, performed right from the beginning, and Makoto still didn't learn that yet... so impetuous, so heart-guided person) - And Laurent also foreshadowed Makoto's reaction (even Abbie would foreshadow it), so it's obvious this also could be part of the plan.

I dont understand why Edamama not questining him about the incident leading to his arrest in the first place.

And why Abi and the other kids not sold immediately, isnt commodity storage expense high? Not to mention the commodity going bad by being a hikikomori.
