This case about the past and culprit they're looking into is actually kinda interesting.

I mean, the ghost of an idol...that's something you don't hear often. It's kinda cool that Saki gets a chance to fight that ghost idol although she definitely needed help from Kotoko. Lol, can't wait to see more interactions between Saki and Kotoko considering their relationships with the MC.

Well... so the explanation for the mystery was a lie at the end?

Sure times flies... They skipped two years, and now they are formally a couple (or so it seems. unless she lies to herself to this very day). Why did they skip so much, I wonder... for Saki to have enough time since the breakup...?

I think it also has to do with his frightening calmness when the yokai appeared. And his eyes looked weird to at the time. At the yokai's words didn't help any of that.

People who expect some great romantic development between Kotoko and Kurou will be disappointed.

Because that two-year gap is also there in the source manga. In the manga Steel Man is in fact the first major arc while Guardian Serpent is merely a short stand-alone.

Bascially:
Manga: Kurou & Saki break-up -> Kurou & Kotoko in a relationship -> 2-year gap -> Steel Man arc -> Guardian Serpent
Anime: Kurou & Saki break-up -> Kurou & Kotoko in a relationship -> Guardian Serpent --> 2-year gap -> Steel Man arc

Guardian Serpent had been moved forward to let the audience familiarize with the world-settings, but the 2-year gap is there anyway. Saki joined the police only after she broke up with Kurou, so that time skip is kind of necessary.

If the above short explanation isn't enough, well, source materials of the source manga is a stand-alone novel on Steel Man. Everything happened after the Steel Man arc is manga-original, while everything before Steel Man is sort of like a short prelude in the novel introducing the characters & explaining how they first met each other. I presume you are aware that time skip between prelude & the main story arc is typical in novels.

Great episode!

Talk with the lake guardian continues and they finally came to a conclusion, these theories are sure interesting yet a bit disturbing but I don't mind that. Also that Kotoko and Kuro moment at the end was cute!

A two year timeskip, that's a bit of a surprise, the police officer Yumihara was actually Kurou's girlfriend. Can't ssay I saw that coming. So she saw things happening to Kuro that scared her away from him. Lucky for her she runs into Kotoko... Kotoko with her solid first impression though XD

She even introduced herself as Kuro's current girlfriend with a smile on her face that got wiped pretty darn quick XD Solid introduction to Kuro's EX!

Don’t worry people. The two year time skip is something you can stop worrying about. It was part of the manga so you can calm down about missing any important information because you didn’t.

We are now heading for the steel lady nanase arc which is the main arc of this season. Please keep In mind when I say this.. PAY ATTENTION TO ALL THE DIALOGUE. You will now encounter. The most dialogue you ever seen in your life in this arc, if you didn’t listen or wasn’t focusing, you will miss out on crucial information and lose interest because of your short attention span. It is a mystery after all so it will naturally require you to pay attention. Also for those that don’t like the idea of heavy dialogue, I suggest you avoid this title because I can guarantee that dialogue will take over 90% of the anime based off of reading from the manga.

Other. Than that, I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did.
Have a great day 😁👍

Alas we reach the big tiddy idol / 4chan arc. One thing I'm glad though is that the animation didn't hinder during that action bit, glad to see it was still pretty consistent.

And as expected Kotoko and Saki nailed it together. Kotoko's lowkey jealousy is always fun to watch

It was more because she realized that she didn't even know what Kuro was (i.e., human or monster). Like the Kappa ran away because he was scared of Kuro's image (like in the 1st ep they showed what youkai view him as) and Saki like she said "ran away" as well. Not trying to justify her decision but to an extent it makes sense

Don’t worry that was just a filler episode to introduce the concept of mystery to the people watching because the first episode was mainly a introduction episode to help you get to know the characters.

Please note that mystery is the main genre of Kyokou suiri, expect a ton of dialogue because I’ll tell you 80% of every episode will be dialogue and maybe you’ll get some action depending on the case. Some of them will be just talking and some will have action like the Pinocchio case but I don’t think that will happen this season considering how long the Steel lady nanase arc is.

Other than that, I hope you enjoy Kyokou suiri as much as I did.
Have a wonderful day 😄

thanks for the heads up. i don't dislike heavy dialogue as long as the story is captivating or the characters are enjoyable. the serpent story didn't hit me as being interesting, but i assume further mysteries would have better development or so i hope. anyways, just the Kuro and Kotoko duo is enough to keep me entertained, so am not planning dropping this any time soon

This show just gets better and better.Had to binge the manga and so far, apart from the shuffling round, the anime has got it spot on.more or less.
And of course,in the manga you don't get that fine OP song, and that absolutely stellar ED song(and animation).
And you also don't get to hear Kotoko. She is my favourite character in a long time.
So cute.
I just wish they'd do some of the bonus manga chapters,as the one with the marriage licence ceremony is hilarious.

Wait, was there actually a 2 years time skip? Why skipping so much? And here I was expecting some development for Kurou and Kotoko's relationship :/

Ok so... I now have to assume both Kurou and Kotoko are 24 and 19 respectively, right?

Anyways, nice episode again. So in the end, the swamp case wasn't that complex. It was most likely used as a way to portray Kotoko's role as the "God of Wisdom" by bringing peace to all the creatures/spirits' conflicts and questions. Even if it includes lying or using made up theories.

This said, this new arc seems quite interesting so I'm really looking forward to seeing how it will be handled.
And regarding Saki... I still don't know what to think about her if I'm honest. Guess I will need a few eps. to say if I like her character or not. She's absolutely gorgeous tho.

Well, it seems like they're mainly doing one chapter per episode, and if they keep going with this flow, they'll end up at 11 episodes to finish this entire arc, or if they extend it a bit longer like they did with the snake, we'll end up with 12 episodes.

I agree with other people that the snake arc should have been concluded in one episode only. It feels kinda weird for that part to have a one-week wait before we got her conclusion. But people who will watch all 12 episodes in one go won't have a problem I guess.

I'm rereading the 2nd chapter of the manga, which is what the second half of this episode is based on. At least the time skip in the anime is shorter, cause in the manga, it said 2 and a half years later. Also, if they didn't cut off some of the parts from the manga (which aren't really that important), this chapter could have been implemented into one whole episode. Hopefully, the next episodes will only focus on one chapter each, it would be better that way.

Also, a reminder to you all, like other people said, the next episodes will heavily rely on dialogue. Almost every second of the anime has information that will help lead up to the conclusion (from what I remember from the manga), and (kind of a) spoiler:

Actually I read it as well and you can notice some subtle romance developing. It’s hard to notice but you can tell that Kuro does care for Kotoko. He does prioritize her safely and in one of the chapter (forgot which one but it was the one with the 3 sister who would be wed to a god), Kuro said he would pick Kotoko. Could he be joking or does he mean it? We may never know. There was also the chapter where the main antagonist returns (I’m not gonna spoil who), I believe that’s was 21, near the end there is a panal where you can see romance developing. Though it’s one sided, I can see this happening.

This is just what I think. We may know in the future chapters tho so that’s something I look forward to

True.... I read the manga, and I am a person who doesn't complex thing that is obvious... Kotoko and Kuro has something in their relationship and that's it... Why would anyone go as far as "Oww they don't have any relationship and I know it" when the author freakin just made it obvious that THERE IS SOMETHING GOING ON IN THEIR RELATIONSHIPPPP... Something IS there... I don't understand why some fans still making it complicated😩... It's freakin still ongoing 🤦🏽‍♀️ Just accept the things there are now 😆

Give Kuro some chance to love someone who doesn't scared of him 😆😆😆
