| it honestly depends on the reason they like them. it's important to look at things on a case by case basis. while being a lolicon has the potential to lead to sexual abuse, it's clear that most cases don't turn out this way. lolis and real female children have a lot of physical differences. anime characters in general have a lot of physical differences from real people, so attraction to one isn't always the same as attraction to the other. i'm actually more experienced with shotacons, and from what i've experienced, most of them are attracted to the character's physique and personality rather than the fact that they appear underage. this line can get a bit blurry once you get into the 3D shota/loli porn fandom, but again, in my experience, they find the sexual abuse of real children absolutely disgusting. |

| It's a fetish that is mostly harmless. I mean most of the time the "lolis" don't even resemble actual children, more like a standard anime girl shrinked in size with no other changes. The characters that were created with a child's image in mind, (eg. the children in Ghibli, Barakamon, Mai-Mai Miracle, Yotsuba to, etc.) I've never seen anyone say they're sexually appealing. I'm not sure about the correlation between this and pedophilia. |
