it's almost 10K IIRC.. but they only realease blue-ray box, not separated volume...

I'm quite concerned that UBW beat Fate/Zero (especially Second Season). The less we say about SAO beating it too, the better. I need my sanity in tact.

Stay/Night is far more popular in Japan. Despite being an average adaptation, I wasn't the least surprised it managed to beat its prequel. Zero is more like a cute little sidestory for them.

Huh didn't know Tiger and Bunny was that popular. One of my favs as well, but I'm pretty surprised.

Nice to see Code Geass and Madoka Magica there as well.

A "cute little sidestory" that sold more and made more money than the original VN adaptation?

Where did you find the separate tables? I see only some japanese TV people's own choices on the page.

I'm not sure if this is visible on the Crunchyroll page "thingy" since I can't access Crunchyroll from my country so I took a look at the Japanese source - where you can pick a female & male poll result beside the normal one.

Isn't Osomatsu-san rank a bit weird? I would have expect some older title from this franchise to be higher than the last iteration.

Osomatsu-san gained a huge female audience that wasn't necessarily interested in the older titles. And these girls are completely crazy about it, I went to Japan this autumn and all the anime shops were filled with Osomatsu-san merch, more than any other mainstream or moe anime.

@Yarrowia Ooh, in other words what the first episode "predicted" eventually happened.

@cure_potato Thank you, after several random clicks, I discovered them behind the ani-report link. It makes me realize that most of the top ranked titles (Joker, etc) only got through thanks to what I presume to be a massive female participation. Actually, most of the titles who make the list more "diverse" are only due to female voters, making this result a bit less positive.

- Sequel effect (even though it's not technically a sequel)
- DEEN poisoning
- The price is just much higher compared to Zero
- A story divided into 3 routes. Should I buy UBW for $400 or just wait for my favorite route HF to come out and spend on it?
- Overall Miura's shitty directing screwed it over

F/SN is far more popular in Japan.

I'm not surprised, Char is husbando material.

Cardcaptor was an obvious winner, I thought that it would be this NHK anime at the first place. Tiger and Bunny is pretty, I don't know... limited in term of audience or target, no?

Joker Game? So recent and yet so high? Is the novels trilogy this relevant in Japan?
Fujo support for the shows ranking high on this list is extremely strong: Tiger Bunny, Joker Game and Osomatsu-san were all very successful with this part of the anime fandom and it shows in rankings dominated by women (fujos being the primary targets of most shows aimed at women). Osomatsu in particular sold incredibly well, averaging no less than 65k+ disc sales per volume.

As for the Tomino bit, I have to wonder why his female characters are so despicable when he claims his work has feminine sensibilities (especially considering how filled with dated machismo Zeta and 0079 were). I wonder what this quote truly meant. I would agree that a certain mask-wearing blond character would have all the ladies at his feet if he existed in real life, though.

In that case, Fate/Zero should have sold even less than the DEEN adaptation since it came after it.
- DEEN poisoning

What is that even supposed to mean?
- The price is just much higher compared to Zero

By only 1k yen.

Fate/Zero BD box 1: ¥ 41,040
https://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%80%8EFate-Zero%E3%80%8F-Blu-ray-Disc-Box/dp/B005ZOPANI

Fate/Stay Night UBW BD box 1: ¥ 42,120
https://www.amazon.co.jp/night-Unlimited-Blade-Blu-ray-I/dp/B00OUQWA76
- A story divided into 3 routes. Should I buy UBW for $400 or just wait for my favorite route HF to come out and spend on it?

Is that why the "cute little side story" sold more than both Deen and Ufotable's verson of the UBW?
- Overall Miura's shitty directing screwed it over

I didn't see any VN readers complain about the first cour but it still didn't sell as much as F/Z.

@NipunSinha99 NHK, not NHL ! It's the main (only?) public national broadcaster in japanese television.

Sorry about the stray here but:

@Sapewloth But... what about Sayla ? even though she gained a lot in Yasuhiko's version, she was already quite something for the year of the first gundam TV broadcast. (Mirai only happened to succumb to stress for a short moment but she was good overall)
What about Lalah ? Emma ? What about Reccoa ? Zut, strike this one. I know a few more - cuff, Ple, kuff - up to 0153 that are far from despicable. And to anyone bringing Miss Paraya on the table, she was in "this age"... and she was misguided (+ her male "equivalent" on the other side was not shinier than her).
And even among the unlikable or indifferent ones, there were several who ended up quite interesting.
(characters don't have to be liked to do their things)

Also, I don't remember reading Tomino saying his works have feminine sensibilities (at least up to where I am). Not that I feel obligated to defend the man. ^^"

edit @Sapewloth : ok, you won. Beltorchika - 2
I must admit I wanted to erase her existence less than a few episodes in. Though, seeing the "future" Beltorchika in Beltorchika's Children, I wonder how much of how she appeared to be in Zeta was due to Tomino's "anime idiocy" (or inability to convey certain things) and how much was due to external forces.
Well, now that you're in Victory, I bet you will be able to add more names on your list (besides Shakti).

Alright alright, it wasn't all that bad, I admit. BUT, those that were were so bad I can't seem to get them off my mind (Reccoa, Rosamia, freaking Beltorchika, Quess, Shakti, even Fa to a certain extent etc.). I would also argue that PIe or Lalah aren't exactly the best example either, but I can let that one pass. It's almost like Tomino's women became worse with time when I think about it, since 0079 wasn't so bad in that regard despite the sexism.

I'm afraid I might have misinterpreted the quote though, sorry about that.

surprising, good stuff like Tiger & Bunny at #1 & not forgotten. Nice to know one of the most western designs in the list is like by jp also.
Shirobako #28 male list, good, but expected a workplace female empowering show to also be in female list...not even there, while kill la kill is only in female list.
Macross (F) only in female list too.
Main list is heavily female weighted & some iffy rankings, but overall quite some good shows.
