And that's an awful thing...
Divine Gate is gonna look especially bad with FUNi's garbage videos, and Haruchika already looks super saturated on PVs, I don't think my eyes are gonna be able to handle FUNi...

Who streams Boku dake/Erased first anyway? Hopefully it's CR.

I hope FUNi bit off more than they could chew this season. Maybe then they'll start slacking on their streaming service. Why people even pay for it is beyond me.

Atleast Daisuki got Prince of Stride. Hopefully not a delay cast, but at least I can watch it somewhere.

Ugh. I promised myself that I wouldn't pick up any anime in 2016, and at this rate, that is not going to change.

It's depressing, really. Anime is conceptually wonderful. I love the staff that work on it, I especially love the animators, and I love MyAnimeList as a website. But aside from participating here and following industry creators on Twitter, there's nothing left in it for me. I'm very thankful that there are communities dedicated to good animation clips, because I don't want to work my way through hours of something I don't like only to see a visually spectacular minute or two.

I am disappointed that sales dictate the content of the Japanese market. The North American market (Hollywood) works similarly, of course, but there's much more room for independent and experimental filmmaking. I'd ultimately much rather people be creative and fail than be held back by promise of profit, though that's easier said than done in our economy.

All of that said, I can't blame studios just for adapting whatever sells. It's not their fault. They're taking advantage of a finicky consumerist market, and that is undeniably an admirable feat. What I can do to avoid this mess is to stick to what I like, and let the people who enjoy these kinds of things have their own fun.

So before anyone ventures into talking about how bad they think this season is, do what I did: Think twice. Take a deep breath. Let others take pride in what you might not.

Funimation's lineup looks awesome! If I'm not mistaken, at least 5 of the shows they licensed are getting a broadcast dub on their streaming app as well.

Guys, is "Daisuki" free service or do they require you to be a premium member bulshit?
Also, what's the standard time for pirates? I think they need to wait a week in comparison to JST time.

It's absolutely free. I use it and there's no problem, no ads on my part for some reason.
It's the service MAL use for their "streaming" feature.

What are you talking about? This thread has been arranged in much the same way ever since MAL switched to doing a single simulcast thread rather than individual ones for each company's acquisitions back in Summer 2012. It never had any videos on it.

Just Aniplex trying to get their shows on all legal streaming portals. Sadly they have the physical licences so the Blurays are going to be a lot of $$$$. Only two Aniplex titles that Funi has streaming right to are Durarara!! and Erased.

They've been saying this crap for months through social-media and on their forums, we can hope that they'll finally get off their asses in 2016 and start making major changes to their service, but as said by alpha_shadow, let's not get our hopes up, this is FUNi we are talking about.

I don't get ads anymore either, although I clearly remember getting them before. I know I have adblock disabled.

Since I'm not getting ads there it almost makes me want to just torrent instead, my PC is bad with streaming so I have to watch on lower quality for daisuki.

I really wish daisuki would get an application for game consoles as well, all the other streaming services do.

Agreed. Anyone who gives a crap about their viewing "quality" should be in the Funi hate camp. Very rarely do they put out something where you have to seek out problems. 9/10 the issues are so apparent it calls into question how they even charge for it.

Funimation has great video quality, if you download the 3500 kbps files and watch locally, that is. Check Youtube-dl. A 720p episode takes 700MBs or so this way and quality is really great.

The only problem is Youtube-dl doesn't recognize that bitrate, but I've made a script for it:

#!/bin/bash

format="$(youtube-dl $1 --username mail-address --password pass --get-url)"
filename="$(youtube-dl $1 --username mail-address --password pass --get-filename)"
stream="$(echo $format | eval sed -e 's/-4000K/-3500K/g')"
wget --continue --show-progress $stream --output-document="$filename"
