My favorites parts of this episode is pretty much Mei...

One of my favorite characters up to this point as he not only shows leadership skills as a pitcher but also his ability to deliver excitement for the game. His pitches in this game aren't too effective though imo as the other team scored some runs...

Oh well, still decent game. Felt bad for Mei though.

I felt so bad for Mei and Inashiro but I kind of expected that especially this episode. I also wasn't sure that Seido and Inashiro will meet in a game again just yet. I just hope that this loss will make Inashiro stronger and reflect. The coach was a but harsh with Mei but that doesn't make him wrong. I think he was right and I'm glad he said what he said so that Mei can come back stronger. I still don't think Inashiro will win against Seido again, though.

I just noticed something which might not be relevant. After Inashiro's loss and outside the stadium, there were two school girls and one of them looked especially sad. Could it be that she's the girl Mei was talking about a few episodes ago? The one who asked him out? It could be that they started dating? However, I can't see Mei in love or in a relationship as it seems that baseball is his only concern at the moment.

I thought I was over the loss to Inashiro but I'm obviously still salty because Narumiya's tears were extremely satisfying. But damn Kunitomo is a hard cunt! probably more than Kataoka. Them losing was expected but I didn't think it would go down like that.

Looks like more drama next week...

I think Inashiro just got what they deserved.
Itsuki did his best to make Mei "shine" as a pitcher, but Mei just was too full of himself to actually listen to the catcher. Actually feel bad for Itsuki, it's too obvious that Mei doesn't trust him

Hopefully they will fix this "I am ace so know better" problem before next summer.

With an episode title like Self-Destruction I think we all pretty much expected Inashiro to lose. Mei's reasoning on the third fastball didn't make sense at all, is Mei really even known for his fastballs? Seemed like a completely bone-headed move to me.

Mei getting another place for growth, the buildup for the summer tournament.

While Mei's stubbornness can be charming when it works, but when it doesn't, it can be quite annoying (though I guess it is hypocrisy).

This episode made me glad that the battery for Seido is still the same as ever.

Guess who's crying? Me. Brilliant voice acting, Yuki Kaji.

But damn, Goro's team was pretty amazing. I'm looking forward to Seido vs them.

Still crying 4 minutes later. Fuck.

Shiiiiit man. I knew it was coming but wow Narumiya got rekt. I feel bad for him but he'll be fine, Kunitomo knows how to push his buttons.

We didn't get to see Seido playing this episode, but watching Inashiro play is always fun. Can't wait to see Seido vs Ugumori!

I felt bad for Mei for crying, yet it felt oddly satisfying.

(I guess cause I know Mei will grow from this which in turn will make the next Seido vs Inashiro match that much more exciting.)

it's not easy to trust someone new..but it's necessary to improve and win -.- Narumiya's lessons are always one of the hardest >.< since their team had some changes of members (like Seido~~T.T the third years) it made some devastations. But I guess Seido had from the beginning better relationship between the members. That's why I think that the next game will prove whose "trust" is stronger and real.

And Furuya after the game ~~ his aura at the Kantoku :D And of course the epic words of Eijun TuT AND Mister Sleazy finally starts to understand..?!

Yeah Mei self-destructed, but I think it's a good thing for his character development. He felt like he had to lead the team in place of Harada who did a great job, and Mei thought he knew better, but he needs to learn to trust in others and work with his team instead of making his own decisions. Some people just learn it the hard way. But as for his fastballs:

"In the Second DnA databook, it was revealed that Narumiya ranks second in pitch speed (148 km/h), with Furuya being the first (150 km/h). He ranks second in terms of the 'best break' of breaking balls; and again second when it comes to having the best 'guts' on the mound. He falls to fourth place in terms of control but ranks first in fielding"
-from http://diamondnoace.wikia.com/wiki/Narumiya_Mei

That being said, Mei is one of my favorite characters in Daiya so it's still really sad to see him so frustrated and even crying when he realized his mistakes. Kunitomo is harsh, but he also understands how to push Mei forward with his words.

Kind of knew that Inashiro would lose because Seido had high hopes for a rematch. Kind of felt bad for Mei, but poor teamwork = high chance of winning. The coach came strong on his lecture. Aside from that, Sawamura was so awesome when he told Mr. Goatee( seriously when are you gonna stop stroking that thing!)that he would face his fear than to let it overcome him again!

Great episode I'm so happy Inashiro lost. (Glad to see Goro come into a different baseball anime and still dominate everyone lol) Umemiya is quickly becoming my fave character. I'm really excited for their match against Seido and how they deal with being denied their "revenge" match.

I'm glad they lost. Mei needed that wake-up call.

This will be good character development for him, and when he comes back - and he's a true leader, a true ace - I'll be afraid. He'll be even more of a monster at pitching.

Honestly, I never liked Mei. Never understood why so many people like him. He annoyed me a lot. Hopefully this will be good for his character development. Gotta say though, the coach was harsh on him. Though he was just stating the truth to him. Mei needed a wake up call sooner or later. I have to say I was looking forward to the revenge match! Oh well. Another time. Looking forward to see what happens next week.

"It's still scary to pitch to the inside. But being unable to pitch like I want to and walking away is even scarier."
I freakin' love Sawamura. All those episodes where he couldn't pitch inside finally paid off. He's developed a lot as a character.

I have a love-hate relationship with Narumiya. He's immature as hell and is arrogant, but his personality can be fun as times. He's also a really great and unique character for this series.

I love this move by the mangaka to make Inashiro lose here. Now, Inashiro and Narumiya will come back as strong as ever for the Summer tournament, and the rematch between them and Seido will be even more exciting with the new first years on each team.

Now let's see how this Ugumori vs Seido game goes. Seido has to win so we can see the rematch with Yakushi! And I really don't want Coach Kataoka to retire.

Yeah, then there's me who's getting a great kick laughing at upset Narumiya. Eat it!
Every time Marumiya is on screen, I swear... I'm so happy when he suffers consequences. XD

I would love to see more of Umemiya and his team. I think after this they'll be dark horses. If Seido beats them later, even better.
Though Seido is having internal strifes? Miyuki has such a serious face in the preview. And whatever the problem was before, it's rising again.

Inashiro needed a wake-up call though, and they got it which is perfect. So now we can be introduced to some new teams.
And I have a feeling Seido will come out on top or do very well this tournament to juxtapose Inashiro. :)

Hm I don't think he's selfish (self-centered maybe), but more like he's just arrogant and believes that he has to take the over Harada's place and lead the team. I think his decisions aren't based off of showing off, well partially is, but it's mostly for his team. He wants his team to win, not just for himself. But yeah, if you're talking about his arrogance, I agree that despite it's Mei's biggest flaw, it's also funny and makes him a really interesting character to watch. I'm still up for some character development from him though, because it'll make him a better leader and pitcher.

Yeah that's what I meant by seflish. I was just using the word that they used in the anime. Arrogant/conceited fits his personality a lot better than selfish. Once Narumiya fixes up his problems he's gonna be even harder for Seido next round :D as far as rivals go he and Raichi are my favorites. Raichi's an idiot though and his personality is very simple and straightforward so Mei makes a much more interesting rival

Haha okay, glad we cleared that up. I don't remember what was said exactly in the episode since I watched it a few days ago :P And yeah, after Mei, Raichi is the other rival that has been shown more often. Still kind of sad that Inashiro is out of the fall tournament so early on. Won't really get to see them in action then, aside from possibly practice.

I really like Mei, so I felt bad seeing him so upset. It was a lesson he needed to learn, though. When he jumped up in his coach's face, for a moment I thought he was about to start a fistfight lol.

Unpopular opinion, but I don't like Goro, so Umemiya is automatically annoying to me. I'll probably get over it; Raichi annoyed me at first, too.

After watching the recent episodes, I'm going to have to agree with you. I kinda stinks they lost so early in the tournament. I was looking forward to another game between Inashiro and Seido but I guess this way Sawamura and the 2nd years have time to grow. Speaking of which, I wish Sawamura got more recognition.
Going back to earlier, I'm super excited for the next game with Yakushi. I love powerhouse players like Todoroki Raichi
