As I had expected, Sensei is training the group with an intention to win. Kousaka is starting to show the cold shoulder now to Kumiko. Not sure how I feel about that though.

Kinda slow episode but I'm glad everyone is working hard. I think they've improved a bit.

Lol dat reaction:

Gotta say, that episode diddled my doodle.

GREAT episode. Also, too many funny faces with gif potential lol

Can't wait to see what they're going to be playing for the festival.

This was probably the third best episode from any show this season behind Plastic Memories ep 1 and the Grisaia no Meikyuu special - and ahead of OreGairu Zoku's ep 2 and Shokugeki ep 2.

Taki-sensei's still not pulling any punches eh.

Those training methods were a bit weird, but I guess it worked quite well this time.
I was a bit lost when they talked about some musical terms, maybe some people here could enlighten that for me.

That was a pretty good ensemble. LOL at one of the students in the courtyard when they heard the music.

Next episode would be the festival, excited to see how it will be.

I don't know. I was waiting for something noteworthy to happen until the Kumiko/Kousaka confrontation which was a little underwhelming.
Went pretty fast surprisingly in the second episode with the solving of the main problems of the group. I was expecting that they would flesh out the solving of the problems and not just brush it off in 2 minutes. First half was too slow and the second half was the exact opposite lol. I expected more from this show honestly than what it gave me at least until now.

As for the music, it sounded better indeed. Give me more music.

If there's anyone that can compete with Asuka for best girl it's definitely Kousaka...She was a joy to watch this episode and I like how straight up, and serious she is about the band

It really pissed me off to see how some of the students kept on complaining about the teacher when in actiality they're just a bunch of whiny and lazy brats -_- Seeing the teacher get on their case and made them work for their right to enter that competition was what they deserved and I enjoyed every bit of it (t was fun too and his methods were pretty awesome as well)

Kumiko got some great character development as well and I'm glad that she finally spoke to Kousaka and get everything off of her chest, that scene was really nice....i also enjoyed the scenes with best girl Asuka primarily the one when she blew her mouthpiece and made that tune which showed just how skillfull she is (What made me even happier was the fact that sensei acknowledged their sections skills too)

Overall it was a pretty good episode and seeing the band finally become an ensemble as well as seeing their reactions made me smile so hopefully things can get get better for the band from here because their music was really good.....The joke that Kumiko's childhood friend made about her being cynical was so spot on lol xD

1. Kousaka has extremely good ears if she can hear kumiko near the river…

2. At least the band director is directly helping the students & not passively. He should've demonstrated his worth first to garner everyone's respect, then they would have no trouble following him.

3. This episode improved in the 2nd half when kumiko x kousaka actually started talking to each other

The reactions she made when Kousaka called her were princeless omg.

I really love that teacher, he is really direct about things.

And mouth pieces weren't thrown at teachers this episode.

Aw this was kinda a feel good episode what with everyone actually practicing together, using their dislike of Taki-sensei as motivation. The music during their "training montage" of sorts even sounded hopeful to me. Plus Kumiko even had that nice scene with Reina. Hopefully their relationship can improve even further as we head towards SunFes.

Best girl Asuka always delivers the best dialogues! There's no one that can compete her in this show.

What if Taki-sensei is deliberately playing the "bad guy" to motivate everyone to practice together? Alongside the session he put them through and evaluated them afterwards, he's improved the students' skills a lot.

Kumiko's reactions after Reina called her out to talk were cute and hilarious! The tension between them got resolved a little too easily though.

The ensemble was much better than their previous one. Taki-sensei approving of them was nice to see. However, I can bet 10 bucks that something will go wrong in the SunFes, and most likely during the performance.

Decent episode. Megane girl in the middle looks the best in the endcard.

Really liked this ep ^^

Taki-sensei is one hell of a teacher. I really don't think I've seen any like him before in anime/manga. The way he seems really kind & nice yet so strict even giving off an asshole vibe sometimes although he's actually not one is amazing :O

I respect this guy a lot :3

Loving Kumiko more and more. Her monologues are fun and her voice is just really cute <3 The way she is starting to open up and say what's on her mind was nice.
Loved the scene she blurted out everything to Kousaka. She was so cute <3 And must have felt pretty relieving :3 Same for her asking her senpai to play with him ^^

All her reaction faces were so fun XD

The ensemble gave me a really "feel good" feel :D

Wouldn't say he's playin the bad guy rather just doing his job or being forward. I think back in the first episode the main girls even stated that the club is are hard as a sports club. Another episode said that the last years club heavily slacked off which is why a bunch of 2nd years quit. The club itself was probably too lax to begin with.

cardio, breathing exercises, long tones, lip slurs, intonation practice. Can't fault the dude, he may be blunt but he knows what he's doing. Damn kids are just too lazy and full of themselves to appreciate it.

Taki-sensei's training methods was sort of fun to see. From running to keeping tissues up in the air.

Kousaka telling off to Kumiko and Tsukamoto, it is nice to see Kousaka liking Taki-sensei's methods.

Loved how Kousaka brought Kumiko all the way there just to say one line, it really showed the type of person she is, though. Glad to see Kumiko not holding back too.

Creating the "I'll show you!" atmosphere by pissing off the students and thus motivating them, Taki-sensei's methods are admirable.

Nice to see that he approved the ensemble and with them off to the busy schedule.

It's nice to think anyway, but I get the sense that he's more of a no-nonsense, "if you don't wanna practice there's the door"...or in this case, no SunFest type. Although this is his first year right, so I dunno? He certainly woulda been nicer had they chosen not to try and make nationals in the beginning too of course.

Kumiko's facial expressions are fab.
After everyone was done performing the girl reached for her mouthpiece.

Was I the only one who was trying to do some of the exercises that Taki-sensei was making them do?

Taki-sensei isn't bad or harsh at all. He's serious in teaching them and not intimidating at all. There'll be more about him including his backstory along with the cast as the series goes by. It just kinda takes it time to progress. Kumiko took a small step to make a change. She's developing nice and slowly. I wonder how Kousaka will treat her after their talk? It was funny seeing her nervous. I also love the ensemble. Sweet music to my ears. It was nice to show how students and teachers react when they heard them. One the girls was ready throw her mouthpiece at him after the ensemble.

A really good episode.

Seems practice has changed the group but will they be able to make it to the event.

To me it seems Kousaka is just harsh with her words but she doesn't mean to be.
I wonder if we will see more of her in upcoming episodes, she seems to be importuned but we have seen little of her.
But well this anime has so many characters that's it's hard to keep track.

I would also like to note that i haven't noticed any advertising for Yamaha since the first episode...

Oh c'mon, she looks great with this style. I was actually hoping it'd come sooner when I first saw the opening compared to the ponytail she had in episode 1. But yeah, Kumiko is definitely best grill so far.

Anyway, a bit of a slow episode, but it also felt like the best episode so far. Wonder what's Kousaka's relation to Taki-sensei. Does she have some sort of deep admiration/love towards him? Is he famous for his teachings? Is he family?

Welp, guess we'll find out later.

At least everyone is working hard. The teacher is pretty harsh but he is correct... That's why kousaka respects him.

At least kumiko finally got the chance to talk to kousaka. But why did kousaka take her out and just say a sentence or two? Hmm

Teacher is a d*ck pure and simple. While he's right to train them hard, he could have done that from the start instead of treating the entire group as lazy and letting the part leaders struggle aimlessly.

Clearly, not everyone wanted to go to the nationals. The way he talked down to the flute girl makes me sick. Having played the guitar myself for some years I know for a fact that some people just don't have as much talent & simply need more time & guidance. Shit like that can destroy a persons confidence, I've seen it happen before.
I've also met my fair share of tutors/mentors in my time & the decent ones are able to bring out the students best qualities without making them feel like shit or using crappy bad-cop psychology.
Lets hope he actually says useful things from this point instead of constantly badmouthing his own students.

singing a note helps internalize the pitch. makes it easier to tell if you're playing it in tune or not :)

yessss I'm glad we saw a little more of Kousaka. not very surprising that she's a fan of Taki-sensei.
I got a feeling that there are going to be way less members in this band by the end of the show. I'm surprised there haven't already been members dropping out now that they have to work hard. that'll be interesting to see happen.

About "just intonation" (pure tone tuning temperament), see Wikipedia.

It is a traditional and very essential way of tuning that makes sounds in a good harmony.

Kyoani is doing the same over and over... At least this show is focused more in the band and the problems that they have and not eating cakes, tripping over his own shoes, and making faces. That's an improvement for me, because in my opinion full moe shows are empty. I don't dislike moe, the same that i don't dislike ecchi in a show which has another thing to show, but full moe shows or semiporn/superecchi shows are not interesting at all for me. Anyway it is yet a weak serie and i will probably drop it soon, but i want to give it some chapters more.
