| MALs score rating is pretty much different for each individual so the scores would not represent exactly everyone's opinions. |
| I think 7s are closer to average on MAL by the way most people rate... usually 6s and below means it wasn't too great. If you think about it though, it makes sense for people to not drop shows that they think are bad or below average, and even mediocre-fine shows. I mean if you're not enjoying the content, why continue to watch it? So really, if a person is simply just good at finishing anime that they actually enjoy and drop anime that they fine mediocre or bad, then an average around 7 isn't that far-fetched to me. What I'm more curious of is people that have averages 8 or above and they also watched more than 500 anime (because its easier to have a high average rating if you just watch all of the great shows still at your disposal having not completed many anime yourself) . Does that mean they're just ultra good at picking out anime they know they will like? |

| Idk, I don't know what my ratings are based off 95% of the time, but it's usually no rating -> 5 ok 6-8 I watched it and didn't hate it 9-10 I was high on something and either ignored the whole anime, just listening to the music and voices / I liked it and was too lazy to rate it correctly. |
| Personally, I'd prefer a 1-20 scale, in order to increase the standard deviation. Because most of the marks I give are between 6 (Ok, not bad) to 9 (very good) with 7 being the center of "Gauss Curve" of my marks. If it'a below, I wouldn't bother finishing the anime. (Well in fact it's the opposite, watching anime being an enjoyable thing, I hardly can give bad marks to them) Only letting 4 marks is therefore not enough IMO |

| Because people choose to watch anime that are interesting to them and are probably above average (to them). I drop most anime that I probably would rate 5 or below (and I don't bother adding them to my list either) because I know there are better shows out there for me to use my time on. |

| I had this right in my profile, but I'll just paste it here: I rate like the American grading system. 10 is an A+, one of my absolute favorites. 7 is a C, which is unremarkable and average. 5 and below is an F, and it sucked. This system is what I'm used to, and it makes the most sense to me because if rate an anime a 5, that means I like it only 50% as much as a 10, which of course means it has to be pretty awful in comparison. And it's fine to have 5 levels of F, because *It could almost always be worse.* |

| For myself I think it goes more... 10 I absolutely loved it, I loved the animation, the music, the characters, the story, the script ..all of it. 9 It was GREAT I loved it all but....just not quite a 10 8 It was fun and wonderful, I would probably watch it again. 7 it was pretty good, I enjoyed myself watching it. 6 It was ....alright. I didn't HATE it.... 1-5 I don't usually have these scores on my list. Why? IF something is that bad I drop it. I rate on entertainment value usually alone though. I don't really care about technical stuff or anything else like that. I watch anime to be entertained, just like when I read a book or watch a movie. It is a medium to enjoy. If I don't enjoy it then I don't watch it. I also don't really look at a show's rating. Some of my favorite shows have low ratings. Some of the shows I felt were mind numbing awful I couldn't stand. I do read reviews, just to get an idea but a number means really nothing. |

Well, for me personally I usually look up any series that I'm about to watch to see if I'm interested in it, So I guess I'm ultra good at picking out anime I like. XD Yea, and about giving anime scores below 5, I rarely complete a anime that I think deserve a score below 5, I'm not a watch them all person. I don't have time to waste on trash. |
| Seeing as a show with the average ranking of 6.0 or lower in most cases can be seen as a bad show by the majority, the rankings are broken. This is because the ranking 6=Fine, which simply isn't true according to how people rate their shows. In my experience a 5 is considered quite bad. It's something you give a show that you don't like at all, but don't hate. The rating 5=Average according to the built in ranks by MAL. People tend to rate everything a bit higher than what they should according to the built in ranks. Although if a show manages to get an average of 9.0 or higher, you can rest assured that the show is quite good. |

| I think anime is a very consistent medium overall. If your into it enough to make a MAL account, it makes sense that you would probably see the good side of most of the anime you watch. |

| Well I don't usually choose an anime to watch that is rated below an 8 on MAL because I know users overrate things like sh*t. That being said a 7 should be considered good and a 8 especially is not bad. 9 and 10s should be only for your favorite animes. |

| 7 for me is like middle of the road, bog standard anime, not bad but didn't have any redeeming traits and didn't leave me feeling amazed! But held my attention throughout.... not sure about 8's because 8's I enjoyed, and had more positives than negatives! |
