At this point I'm definitely an "older" anime fan. I tend to watch series where the source material is complete so I wont be cockblocked waiting for years.
Subs only, dubs never.
There used to be more here, but I keep whittling it down.
I like making music and playing video games.
I consider 7 to be the average. 70% of the way there. A 5 is a fail on my list.
See my list for mini-reviews on most things I've watched.
Have a good day!

R.I.P Mr Eko ) :
I just wanted to let you know that I'm two episodes away from finishing Season 2 and holy crap, you were right about it picking up like crazy!
New character-wise, Mr Eko has been my absolute favorite addition to the series.
As for Michael, I don't hate his guts but man, I wish he did try to think things through before he decided to kill off two characters that were "alright".
I just feel super bad for Hurley who's honestly an amazing character.
The suspense has been killing me, that's for sure! I really can't wait to see how Season 2 concludes and I will let you know how I feel about it!
Also, how are you feeling about Wano so far?
I know pacing can be a bit "hard" at times, but you are binging which is honestly the best way to watch One Piece (imo).
I can't wait for you to get into the crazy stuff!
Anyway, I hope you had a great Christmas and have a Happy New Year!
That's upsetting to hear that the pacing is still terrible. People stated that after the abomination that was Dressrosa and Whole Cake Island that Wano has way, way better pacing. Like you, I wait until an arc fully ends before I pick One Piece up (with the opening and recap, each episode is like 13 minutes long. That's way too little content to wait for weekly).
I've been thinking about jumping to the manga instead. But, my OCD kicks it at the thought of me not having 1000 episodes watched in the show (only 880 right now).
Haha, is anything as bad as the Frieza arc? Even Dressrosa at its worst still didn't manage to get as ridiculous as the Frieza arc. It still shocks me to this day how that's regarded as many people's favourite part of Dragon Ball/Z.
That's fair enough, pal. Pre-timeskip One Piece has been my comfort food for years. I've rewatched parts of it so many times. Thus, I'm really excited to see a new version of it with better pacing.
And no kidding on the flashbacks from the movies/video games. I feel like I've seen that scene with Shanks and Luffy 300 times more than I really needed to, haha.
I hear you on the JRPG complaints. They even test my patience at times. Persona is especially bad with the amount of micromanagement you have to do-- and I'd imagine it'd be especially awful for somebody like you who (from my knowledge) seeks to complete games 100% for all of their achievements. Any game that requires a guide to be next to you at all times for something as simple as dialogue choices is true agony. There are VERY few JRPGs that have mastered combat/encounters-- so many of them feel a need to make you waste as much time as possible.
For somebody in high school, college or university I think they're tolerable, but, for somebody with a lover and a job, they are undeniably a massive waste of time and effort. Though, I have an equal amount of complaints for WRPGs (if not more).
Yeah, pal. I made my list private because I've been slowly migrating to another Anime website whilst abandoning this one.
Long story short, I became a website moderator on MyAnimeList for a while, and I didn't like how the admins and other moderators were handling situations with users on the website. I stepped down and "leaked" some of the information they wanted to keep private in an attempt to bring awareness to other users (to help them keep their accounts and information safe). That lead to 5 other moderators resigning, and a bunch of users jumping ship from this website (the forums are deader than they've ever been).
The website is pretty out of hand in terms of how its being ran, and I just want to leave it behind.
Thanks for the message, buddy. Take care of yourself, and be sure to let me know how you like Wano.
I can't believe it has been 5 months since we last spoke. I truly hope you're well in both your health and your wealth.
I also see you have recently picked up One Piece again (what a great thing to watch on Christmas). If you stick with it long-term (episode 950+) be sure to let me know how you like it.
Also, did you hear about the official One Piece remaking we're getting; animated by Wit Studio? I already love the early stages of One Piece, but, if they manage to better the pacing in arcs such as Skypiea, Thriller Bark and Dressrosa I'll literally start a cult worshipping the show.
Take care of yourself, pal.
I'm currently on Season 2 Episode 14 so I'm going to take a wild guess and say your 2nd favorite character is Desmond?
Also, I love Sawyer too but holy f***, what he just did last ep was wild.
The gun magician. <-- with the help of Charlie of course.
So far, the biggest complaint I've got here is that it's super understaffed that most times I'm working backwall and grill by myself and it's not super hard but it's extremely pressuring when the BIG RUSHES happen. I'm thinking of making the switch to a dominos or maybe a Little Caesars but I'm also having my eyes out for the local Gamestop around my area which has only 1 member working most times and I feel like I would enjoy that particular job more despite meaning I'll have to talk more to people which I think I can get used to. I don't know what I'm going to do yet, though. Decisions, decisions!
As for the lexapro, I'm sorry it didn't work out well for you. I would say the only BIG side effect it gives me is the wicked visual dreams that are sometimes horrifying but if that is a price to take for no anxiety and way less depression, then I can handle it for the meantime.
& yeah, I've made sure to do my research but I appreciate you for reminding me of that. I guess I really don't when I will ever take psychs again but I really hope when I do, I can find a good way of balancing it with my Lexapro. I'm currently only on 5mg's so I'm not like not on a super high dosage which I think is what can counter the acid/shroom effects. Who knows though, time will tell.
Anyways, you're gonna love wano and FYI, they're making a One Piece Remake (not a remaster like Dragon Ball Kai) that is going be created by a special studio named "Wit Studio". From the looks of it, it's going to be a seasonal anime. I'm pretty sure they're making that for the new generation of anime fans which is fine to me but OG One Piece will always be amazing to me. I think you might've noticed it too but the pre-timeskip one piece background scenes always had characters making facial expressions and just doing random stuff while you never really see that in post-timeskip. <-- The fighting got better though, of course.
As for me, I've been working for McDonald's and despite the downs, it's been a crazy wonderful experience.
As for my health or mental health issues,
I still have my infamous EAR problems which hopefully can be fixed soon but I've worked tirelessly on bettering my mental health in many ways. I don't drink or smoke weed anymore (been almost a whole month).
As for psychs, I'm gonna wait until I actually need them if I ever want a new perspective on things.
(side note: Lexapro has been a helper)
Anyways, I hope you enjoy your Wano binge! The next "big arc" will happen in January.
The new arc of One Piece has been confirmed that it'll start on ep 1086 (December 3rd).
So safe to say, Wano Island is officially over in two eps.
The action was definitely not comparable to the anime but that's an unfair comparison tbh lol
As for Arlong, that's a tough one because I'm 100% sure I would prefer the CGI look for fish-men but I do understand why they couldn't go that route since I'm guessing that would be way too expensive to make, especially for the whole season/series. Arlong doesn't look horrible but he doesn't look like the big Arlong we all know and love from the anime. I do think the actor that's playing Arlong is doing great though. He might be a secret gem, we never know. As for the rest, it seems like they are the right casting choices...so Oda really is trying to make this work and I really hope it does too. It needs to be for the sake of Oda's happiness, & if anything... it will encourage more people to watch the anime or read the manga.
I still understand though, if you're skeptical but I really do think you'll love the devil fruit action! Also, all the original choices, this show does make, Oda approves it.
Like there's no way this can be better than the anime but it 100% can be the best adaptation of a anime, yet and that would be a win for all One Piece fans.
I might be overestimating this, but what else can I do? I really want this to work, especially for Oda.
As for my health issues, I'm still dealing with them. To be precise, I've been dealing with a lot of issues with both of my ears. One ear for 2 years while the other one barely got the symptoms as of this year. I've gone to a couple of doctors and eventually got a ear specialist. Been with him for a year, now. To no avail though. He originally thought it was Lupus so that gave me a health scare, to be frank with you so I've been dealing with that pressure on my shoulders. Did blood tests and everything came out clean so my ear doctor (who's very old btw) is shocked and confused. So, now he thinks it's something else and gave me certain antibiotics to treat it. If these don't work, I'm going to get a 2nd opinion. I just want this to end lol.
Anyways, that's why my energy levels are kind of all over the place but it's life & I know I will push through no matter what.
Hope you're doing alright, Wolf!
Interesting. I had no idea a Schnitzel was actually meat. I always thought it was just bread (similar to a pretzel). It's one of the reason I avoided it, because it didn't seem like my thing. Now that I know it's meat (and due to me being a massive carnivore) I'll add those to my list to try. Do you know if there's any good German snacks (potato chips, chocolate, cookies, etc) that're worth eyeing up?
I'm interested in trying blood sausage, honestly. I hear it's a real marmite situation (you either detest it or love it) and foods like that always excite me. We have something similar in the U.K called 'black pudding', so, I can't imagine it being much worse.
Haha, I wasn't going to judge you for German blood anyway. I respect the Germans, and always have done (I hate people who hold today's people accountable for their ancestor's actions).
A lot of people from the U.K are mixed between Scottish, English, Irish and Scandinavian. I'm 60% English > 25% Scandinavian > 10% Irish mostly, with a few more random blood lines thrown in from around the globe in small percentages (hence an extra 5% in random areas).
And yeah, the food of the U.K isn't great at all. I really do like our snacks (potato chips, chocolate, cookies, etc), but, our cuisine is lacking (though, at least it's not completely disgusting... like some places).
I used to hate French food, but, as I've gotten older, I'm really enjoying it now. Their food is very, very rich and fattening, but, nutritional info aside, it's delicious.
I definitely like the look of Hamburg the most. I've heard from a few people (Germans included) that Berlin is somewhat of a mess. I'm not certain on the specifics, but, like most capitals, it's overpopulated, especially with the worst kinds of people (London and Paris are much the same way).
From what I can see, there are a few towns near the Black Forest that host cuckoo clocks. Either way, a good shout. I absolutely adore cuckoo clocks, so, that immediately is right up my alley (it's also easy to get to for me). I'll add it to my notepad.
That makes me feel better about your mental wellbeing, haha. If you had spent 66 days straight clicking on a cookie, I'd be worried for you, pal. I really would.
I'll definitely add you whenever I can recover my damn Steam account. I added an authenticator to my account (which uses the mobile Steam app), but, then the damn app signed me out automatically, which meant I can no longer access the authenticator code to log in.
I'm sure there's an easy fix for it somehow, but, I've just been really lazy trying to recover it.
Also, that's one cool chill zone. There's so much to look at in your room that my eyes would never get bored.
I never even knew you could hang plushies up (I actually like that idea). And, I kid you not, every plushie you have is something I myself would have (One Piece, Danganronpa, Death Note, Natsume Yuujinchou, Dragon Ball, Pokemon) so, flipping good taste there, pal.
One thing I do find funny is just how many Choppers you have in comparison to other plushies. He outnumbers the other characters by 4x1 (I really like the human form one, below Nami and above Shanks. Also, the one below the Danganronpa plushies. Not sure why).
I also really love the little Goku on your desk, haha. His design always cracks me up.
It's weirdly sublime to see the place where you watch Anime/type comments to me... not sure why. I appreciate you sending that image my way.
Take good care of yourself, buddy.
PS: Thanks for your info on Germany as well.
Ahh, I think I understand what you mean about Overlord. The first season felt like a great introduction to the characters, with the second season feeling like it was developing the world and the races that dwell within... then season 3 happened and it felt like the show wasn't really going anywhere. All I remember about season 3 was the characters saying "tomb of nazarick" "tomb of nazarick" "tomb of nazarick" over and over again, with very little else of relevance taking place. It's why I thought season 3 was an absolute snoozefest. I was hoping season 4 was going to be a step up.
That's understandable. I also have a massive backlog of games I want to play. I suppose you can be patient when you have so much other shit to do.
Also, you wanting to rewatch those shows specifically is quite humorous. Aren't all of those shows really flipping long? I guess I'll say sayonara to you now then and talk to you in 10 years (joking, of course).
I've been on a bit of a rewatch spree myself. Been enjoying Golden Kamuy (as you know) and also the original Dragon Ball again. I forgot how much I love the OG Dragon Ball characters. I'd definitely put Goku and Krillin on my favorites list if the MyAnimeList picture of them wasn't the garbage adult versions that I don't like even half as much.
Also, on the topic of Golden Kamuy, the final season recently got announced, thank God. At least I now know that franchise will be fully adapted at the end of the next season.
Everything is great on my end, pal. Sorry to hear things have been busy on your end. Still, it's great to hear you're spending some time playing games.
Speaking of, I'm surprised you bit the bullet with Persona 5. I thought it might be too long (then again, from what I recall looking through your Steam page, you had like... 3000 hours on Cookie Clicker, haha). I hope you're enjoying it, and I'd be really happy to hear your utmost harshest of opinions on the game (I can take it).
Since I know you haven't finished it yet, I won't spoil anything. However, for me, I thought the characters were alright, but, could of been better (I much preferred Persona 4's cast). And whilst the palaces/dungeons were decent, I was still slightly disappointed by most of them.
In regards to the combat, I do agree with your take. You either exploit an enemy's weakness which makes them absolutely laughable to obliterate, or you use whatever spells you want and it takes 3 times as long to kill them. There's not much room to pick and choose how to want to fight enemies (if you want to be efficient), as one way is far too easy and boring, and the other way takes too long.
Talk to you later, my friend. And, just to mention this again, feel zero need to reply. I know you're busy. Take care!
France is a phenomenal country... which may sound hilariously weird coming from a British person. Every time I thought to myself "let's visit this random-ass town I've never even heard of" I was blown away by its beautiful, old architecture. In England, we also have such architecture, but, it's surrounded by shithole cities, bad scenery, or ruined by graffiti and other such human interventions.
In France, they preserve their history perfectly-- combined with a step-up in scenery above our own. I never used to appreciate France, but, now I can't wait to go back. Definitely a country I recommend visiting, however, do try to explore outside of Paris.
I certainly get the whole 'OCD with skipping episodes' thing. I skipped a lot of Naruto filler. However, I'd DETEST having to put Naruto in the 'dropped' section of my list (considering that I did actually finish all of the canon content). I just mention in the comments/tags that I skipped the filler so people know.
Having anything on my dropped/on-hold list is triggering for me, so, I'm planning to clean it up entirely soon. I'm dreading having to watch some of the old shows I hated and dropped...
I have a feeling your "I'm having fun with Overlord comment" is now outdated, haha-- considering you rated season 3 a 6/10 and season 4 a 4/10. It's sad how they milk decent shows into the point of LITERAL oblivion (It happened to Slime for me and Re:Zero, both of which are now pretty garbage shows).
No kidding on the "everything is an Isekai" comment. I can't escape the damn things. That's one of the reasons I watch ancient shows that people no longer know about nor care about. Strangely, the concept of Isekais have been around for decades, but, they're only now taking off. I suppose that's another reason to hate Gen Z (this coming from a Gen Z).
I comprehend your notion of wanting to wait for stories to fully finish before you watch them, however, how in God's name do you do it, my friend? The way I see it is: if I'm interested in a show, I'll watch it before the story fully finishes. They'd be no worse feeling for me than waiting for a story I'm interested in to fully complete, only for me to then dive in and be deeply, deeply disappointed.
I have a feeling you'll be disappointed with a show like Made in Abyss anyway-- I know I have been. Just when I think it can't get any worse it tops it.
I appreciate you being magnanimous towards my Golden Kamuy recommendation. I also would more than appreciate your utmost brutal honesty about the show when you do get around to watching it (I have a feeling the HORRENDOUS CGI bears in the early episodes will be something that tickles you the wrong way, haha).
Due to the mentions of Golden Kamuy in our recent comments, I went back and watched the first 2 seasons of it (along with some OVAs), and it's still as excellent as I remember it being (perhaps more so). It has so much personality, an interesting mystery, great comedy, and entertaining characters. It has the absolute perfect balance between taking itself seriously and chilling itself out for a brief moment to have a good laugh. I'm tempted to rate the show higher than it current is on my list-- as it's easily one of the best Anime shows to me.
Also, to hopefully not burden you with too much extra content, I highly recommend you include the OVAs in your watch of the series, as they're both vital and canon. Thus:
Golden Kamuy Season 1 > Golden Kamuy OVA > Golden Kamuy Season 2 > Golden Kamuy Season 2 OVA.
I've never met anyone who likes blue steak, like myself. Everybody always seems to find it revolting. The only time I'm ok with well-done meat is if its done on a BBQ (burnt meat tastes nice off of a BBQ for some reason).
Haha, apologies, but, I won't be able to make use of your potato recipe. The most I can cook is either a packet of instant ramen or a frozen pizza. Even a baked potato might be a step too advanced for me.
To add extra onto the discussion: Did you see the One Piece live-action trailer? Holy smokes. It looks absolutely amazing! I love it so much. Of course, I am pulling your leg (though, no offence if you liked the look of it). To me, it looks worse than something a YouTuber would make. None of the characters look or feel even remotely like their Anime counterpart (though, from the little I've seen of Sanji, he's probably the least terrible).
I appreciate them trying to get similar looking nationalities/races to what Oda stated his characters are (Luffy = Brazilian, Zoro = Japanese, Usopp = South African, with Nami and Sanji being from white countries, such as Sweden and France). However, despite that, they still don't look like their Anime counterparts. Zoro and Nami are especially a travesty (most likely due to the silly colored hair).
This is likely going to be yet another Anime series butchered by the shitty west. When will Netflix learn?
Talk to you some other time, my friend! Take care.
