I think the new Kino's Journey stands fairly well on its own, but I very much agree with you that studio Lerche was not doing the show any favors. It looks to be the first watchable series they've produced. Honestly I would like to see more, I would be pleased to see a second season even if we have to settle for a lesser studio.

I haven't put much thought into what I'll be watching this season, my selection has be rather spontaneous lately. I will probably end up watching Violet Evergarden and Overlord II, even though I'm not too enthused about watching either one. What's on your radar this season?

i am kind of enjoying boruto more than heroaca. it surprisingly not bad at all. as of this moment it is fine show. so far i watched 10 episodes. i guess the slice of life and little details are what make this show better than naruto and heroaca i kind of want more sol eps than plot loool. i like the slow nature of the plot in boruto. it flows naturally.

The new Kino's Journey is a pleasant watch, though the episodes don't have the nuance or lasting power of the original series. It's not that they are too explicit with their themes either, I think the dialogue is mostly to blame. It's a little too cut and dry, and the character interactions could be made more interesting. I'm enjoying it overall, but it leaves you wondering why they even decided to make an alternate version.

And a Merry Christmas to you!

I always enjoy hearing your thoughts on bad anime lol. You word things very elegantly. It's refreshing to see someone point out what I thought were obvious flaws that nobody else seems to pay any mind to. Sometimes I feel like we're living in a fantasy world where nobody cares about artistic integrity anymore.

I do like to indulge in schlock from time to time, dumb fun entertainment just magically clicks sometimes. I wasn't sure what to expect form Inuyashiki, I was anticipating potential schlock goodness from this one based on my experiences with Gantz. In the case of Gantz I instantly fell in love with the concept, and for different reasons that I've ever heard anyone say. I interpreted the show more as a 'life game' than a 'death game'. I thought killing off the characters in the real world was a clever way of making the viewer not feel bad when a character dies off for good. It doesn't feel like your typical survival game in that sense. The characters have already failed at surviving, and now they are fighting for a second chance at life. Though some people tell me that I'm reading too much into it lol. I will have to at least try out Inuyashiki, maybe something in it will unintentionally resonate with me.

Mainly Asian dramas. Been watching a lot of Korean, Japanese and Chinese dramas as of late, and got some new addictions like Tribes and Empires which is my everything right now. How about yourself?

Merry Christmas! How has the new Vinland Saga chapters been treating you?
Dunky Dec 23, 2017 7:33 PM
That is an extremely spot on description of Ancient Magus Bride. I agree that it would be of great benefit to change the show to be more story-driven. It reminds me a lot of Spice and Wolf, minus the overarching storyline.

Haha, how did you know? Kekkai Sensen, among others, are an assault on the senses. Drifters, Fate/Stay Night, Kakegurui. It's like these modern anime throw everything at the screen all at once and never cease to slow down. Does everyone have ADHD?? Maybe I'm just becoming a bitter old anime critic.

What are your thoughts on Inuyashiki? I'm curious to at least check it out, but judging from my friends low scores...

i finished gantz. it was fun. tho it was a mess. it was the most conflicting story i ever seen. i couldnt decide what was my opinion of it. i like a lot of it and dislike a lot of it.

yokohama kaidashi kikou i mean
Zoce_ Dec 22, 2017 3:16 PM
does yokohana have any conflict?
i feel like the scale of conflict is really really slowfrom the 12 chapters.
i want to know if there will be any development.
even if it take much longer, thats fine by me.
