I gotta admit, that's some pretty awesome speed this episode. I'm talking about Jinpachi of course. Still, the atmosphere in the air of this race got tense.

It was a decent episode though especially with his little speech imo. Nice to see Sakamachi finally up though. Go!

And as usual! I find myself shouting NOOOOOOOOOO at the end of the episode with how the cliffhanger ended T O T

"I'm gonna pass 100 riders"! GO ONODA!! Glad they didn't have to show him emo'ing and just went straight ahead to him wanting to take off.

Loved Maki and Todou's little rivalry story. Really gotta feel bad for them both with how much Maki is holding back and Todou is begging for a race :*(

But Maki's declaration was friggin BA!! 3 minutes and ur dead! He really trusts Onoda a lot :D

No Time is always odd in a sports Anime. Anyway the Onoda part could have happened before they even reached the hills.

It's kind of a missed opportunity that Manami doesn't talk or mention about Onoda missing, but maybe he's just keeping it to himself. I really like how much Naruko cares about Onoda, not just this episode, he's such a good friend. Also the part where Onoda talked with Teshima kinda fall flat compared to the manga.

But of course the highlight is Toudou's rivalry speech. Arakita's getting annoyed are fun to watch.

I was also wondering why Manami wasn't saying anything. But I guess he also trusts that Onoda will make it ^^ Or he was really emotionally effected by the rivalry XD

finally some toudou and maki-chan screen time
lol sleeping beauty

onoda hurry and catch up! >< making toudou and maki-chan sad is not good =3=
its so hard to see maki-chan holding back for the team even though he wanna race, and then there's toudou's desperateness T^T it just shows how much maki-chan cares for the team and he's got some really nice self control.

lol young maki-chan's attempt to smile is creepy cute~
go onoda!~

lol at the end, 'abs' are contagious

This must be hard for Maki... the rivalry shown was nice.
Really interested to see Onoda's high cadence to play his power.

Why must Onoda always come at an disadvantage! >.< It almost feels like Onoda is a better climber if he can catch up and win.

the only thing I hate so far.. (and this happens in every anime/cartoon/etc) is talking while they're physically active.. heck they are riding uphill for 15 minutes while talking and aren't out of breath. Meanwhile, the pack still hasn't catch up, what a bunch of scrubs.

Toudou and Makishima's rivalry was one of the best arc in the manga and they really did a good job animating Toudou's despair when he realizes that he can't compete with his one true rival one last time in the place that they promised. Also Makishima's internal conflict made me really feel for him, I could see how much he wanted to race with Toudou but he knows he can't for he is the kind of person that would never selfishly abandon the team for his own desires.

Makishima is such a good person for sacrificing his own happiness for the sake of his team. T^T

A rivalry that goes unfilled really does bring tears to my eyes (and they haven't even scratched the surface of how deep and heartfelt Toudou and Makishima's rivalry is).

All Onoda has to do is sing the Love Hime theme to himself and he'l catch up in no time!

Really glad to see the rivalry between Makishima and Toudou, I was really curious about them. It sucked that they couldn't go through with their last race in the Inter High, but hopefully when Onoda catches up they can have their race.

I love the backstories we've had but they kinda slow the pace down. But even so I love every episode.
And yeah, Manami not saying anything about Onoda I thought was really weird.

ABS are contagious... while doing bicep curls?

That "Because we're third years!" speech really got me... Maki-chan's got my full respect for sacrificing his last chance to settle his rivalry with Toudou for his team.

Onona, you'd better catch up soon!
"There's no shame in falling down... true shame is to not stand up again!"

To all: I'm a cycling geek. This post is a rant from someone who wishes to have a series which focusses not on being shonen, but on being about real cycling. So beware!

Sourire said:

I think - in this episode - the talking fairly realistic. Do you watch cycling in real life? If so, you should remember this. The ones that did all talking were the strongest climbers, who didn't ride very fast in order not to drop their tired sprinters. But I'm also aware of this problem: it was one of the things that ruined the sprint episode for me.

The bunch not catching up, however, is a good point: they really should be able to close the gap. And I can't seem to remember why that gap was there in the first place. But there are other things that irked me: why do they want to take those sprinters along with them? Those should sit back in the bunch, or if the race gets harder, in the gruppetto. There were many times during this series when I had to think about one particular quote of Luis Herrera: "When I saw riders with fat asses climbing cols like airplanes, I understood what was happening."

And from a tactical point of view, this whole series is a mess. Like depicting that the only way to draft is riding behind teammates. Seriously, take that opponent's wheel! And with all this climbing, why isn't Maki the race leader? The only reason I can think of is that we will see a flat time trail in a few episodes.

I understand why some things are done this way - like trying to keep the main characters together. But I have to say understanding is not agreeing. If I remember correctly, this is a 3 day race. They should've made three kinds of stages: one sprinting, one hilly and one mountain stage: we could have three longer arcs which could focus on different characters (the specialists on that area), while showing the others from time to time to see what their roles are in this race.

Damn you, Onoda! If you didn't panic and fall, Maki would've taken up Toudou's challenge and settle the score.. But coz of you, Onoda, he had to sacrifice that challenge and take one for the team!! Ugh, I was so frustrated that Maki had to refuse it after all that "last time to do it... 3rd year" speech.

What's with Onoda sitting there for a while waiting for his friends to arrive.. Wasted precious seconds/minutes.

ED was so cute and funny! When I go jogging, I'll continuously say (in my mind) "abs, abs, abs, abs...." lol!

THIS IS ONE GOOD FREAKIN' EPISODE FOR YOWAMUSHI PEDAL SINCE FOREVER.

When they first showed the flashback, I thought, "No way, another flashback?" but the flashback was actually quite good. So Maki-chan and Toudou met one year ago? They only knew each other for one year? Hmm that's unexpected.

When I saw Onoda still at the spot he fell looking all cool and shit, I was like.. "Dude why are you still here -.-" and the last pushing part was a little cheesy, but it actually feels really good.

I'm confused... how exactly having a climber at the front helps? They still have to follow someone's pace so how exactly does it help them to rest and why can't they do it themselves without Makishima having to be at the front?

Toudou sure seeks a final win against Makishima, i think it was nicely shown how desperate he is. He was talking to him for quite a while, the frustration on his face and the tears at the end after he realized Makishima is their only climber. The backstory was quite nice, Toudou witnessed how interesting Makishima's dancing is and became quite attached to him after several races together.
MAkishima is pretty confident by saying 3 minutes... I can't believe Onoda will catch up to them. really...
Seeing sleeping beauty in action was interesting alright.
I also liked how Kinjou is trusting in Makishima's decisions, saying he knows mountains better than him. IT shows their closeness a bit, i don't think captain would trust every random person.

Man, Onoda really had to screw over Makishima and Toudou's final battle. It's unfortunate but Makishima is not the type to abandon his team just for his own wishes. I wonder what he meant by 3 minutes.
