Great shonen, one of the best ive seem.

What was not perfect:

- the plot after the "return of complete Chainsaw devil" become rushed. The great revelation of what he is was become too fast, too short, and not clear about why is he like that and how it become a little devil dog, BUT sure all this material is something that can be explored in the continuation. Maybe it become unclear on purpose.

- the powers of Makima was too much asspulled. Neither the author know exactly what she can do by using other devils in a extreme OP way, that is why the battle aggainst the american Gun Devil was offscreen. There are no rules, just convenience, and then she was defeated by single chainsaw hit, lol.

- Also, what happened with the other parts of Gun Devil, it become useless after the population lose the fear of it? How it made a contract with Aki? Was forced to it by Makima?

- several moments of the story was nonsense if you read again knowing Makima intentions. For example the plot of the Yakuza attack, that was presented as something to Makima gain power... No shit, even before she already had ALL the power in Japan, all, so what was the meaning of that?

The plot was well made and all that flaws could be easily solved by one page more of explanations in certain chapters, but maybe it is asking too much from a common author who just wanted to make a FUN crazy shonen, not a Tolkien work.

That is why it deserves a big fat 10/10. In comparation with other shonen stupid brothers, Chainsaw man is gold.

This manga was a rollercoaster and now it's time to get off. I reread this because last year it was only up to chapter 40 and I wanted to savor every chapter. I'm still hurting over Aki's death though but pochita is such a good boi and Denji is a good boy too so they both deserve each other. What a wholesome ending! Everyone needs a hug sometimes

damn. that whole thing was just the whole "public safety arc". That was depressing. I reckon in the next part we won't get any of the old characters except for Kisihibe or maybe Kobeni.

I absolutely hate reincarnation endings with a burning passion. Always have. No exception in this case. It's such an unrealistic and unbelievable resolution to a character. You talk about lazy... Rather than trying to redeem someone, you just kill them off and replace them with a different version of the person? That isn't redemption, rather it's dodging any attempt to do so. No one can relate to that. It's just make believe. And, I'm not saying that from a perspective of narrative realism, since obviously nothing in anime/manga is really meant to be fully realistic, but the actual meat of the matter (intended) is lost with this type of resolution.

Speaking of narrative though, the explanation, or lack thereof also wasn't satisfying at all. It's essentially just an admission that the author wrote themselves into a corner to the point of needing to just force what he wanted through vague unknowns. Obviously, the author could of went any way to go about the ending, but ugh, do I not enjoy it. I'm sure I'm not the only one. But, it's not like there was any way the author could please everyone, which should go without saying, honestly. So, don't take my discontent with the ending as some sort of call to arms or something absurd like that.

With that said, for my own personal hope, my desire was for a resolution to be thought of that could defeat Makima's fault in perspective, an ideological or perspective victory. Something like that would have been needed to lead to a resolution via (actual) redemption. I can only imagine the author either couldn't come up with that or that he just doesn't believe Makima was redeemable or that he just wanted a new character to work with or something else. Regardless, I'm not a fan of that type of resolution.

Although, I was much more bothered by it in
But, regardless, it still comes off as the author giving up on a character I would of really liked to see actually redeemed rather than this fake reincarnation resolution BS. It just comes off as dodging the actual bullet of resolving her fault/struggle, something that takes truly hard work and heart, and just replacing them with an imitation. Which, yeah, the new character is her own person, and I'm sure she will be interesting and all, but that isn't a 1 to 1 exchange. Characters don't work like that, nor do people for that matter, but I digress.

For all intents and purposes, the actual Makima is dead, and we are forced to deal with someone new taking her place, and are expected to love her for it, or something, I presume. But, no, she will never replace Makima, and I will never endorse this kind of resolution. I will instead see this character as her own thing, and judge her completely by what she shows going forward. So, if she just ends up as someone with vague connections to Makima as her big character draw, that would just be pathetic to me. Another annoying thing is Denji thinking he became one with Makima or some BS; ugh, just accept that you killed the person you loved instead of lying to yourself. This self deception cope is so irritating to me, especially combined with this new character. It just is the tools given to Denji to not fully accept the reality of his own actions. He literally is lying to himself to deal with offing someone he loved, which to me, is messed up, even if you (the reader) didn't personally like Makima at all, it's a dumb immature way to deal with the acceptance of your (Denji's) actions.

While I said before I'm sure many aren't going to be happy with this ending, I'm also sure many will be happy with this ending too, and that's fine. It's a matter of perspective and focus which is true for just about all things with us humans. But, that of course goes all ways, and so I too will be open and honest of where I stand with this type of story resolution. As I said at the start, never could get on board with reincarnation resolutions. If it turns out I'm wrong and "Makima" ends up being this character all along through some other vague reasoning, and that this is actually an engine to resolve Makima's perspective fault through, and that the justification is that Denji, at this point in time, just isn't mentally equipped to do that, then, okay, I'll eat my words then and there. But, I'm like, 99.99% sure that it's more akin to what I was complaining about.

I still enjoyed the series overall, even though I hated the ending. Going forward, I'm just going to have a distinct bitterness in the back of my throat seeing this new character going forward, as it will remind me of the dumb reincarnation ending the author chose to go with. Oh, and, um, Power fans, looks like your hopes of Power coming back are now burned away forever. Expect another cheap imitation like Nayuta if anything. For those of you who will not self deceive themselves, well, we can suffer together and be better for it. Was fun following things with you all. Have a heart warming Christmas if you are celebrating it or some other seasonal celebration. Even if you aren't celebrating anything though, I still hope you have a good end of the year. Cheers.

While I understand your point of view regarding this sort of plot devices and how they are executed, I can't help but see this series as completely justified in having used these elements when they have introduced such concepts as possibilities ever since chapter one and built upon them progressively until the story reached that point (even because this ending is thematically fitting in a pretty metafictional way, like Fire Punch also was, though up to eleven, specially in terms of "uniqueness" even compared to this).

Whether you appreciate that kind of content resolution or not, I'd say it truly was very well thought out, foreshadowed and entirely, positively compromised within the worldbuilding, presentation and narrative nuances on themselves since the beginning, and for that, the author have my kudos for consistency and storytelling prowess.

8+/10 overall to me, really looking forward to the next part.

Idk how influenced by Zetman CSM was...but considering how both end like this.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tatsuki Fujimoto just never intends to make Part 2 (just like Zetman's author), I certainly don't think it needs a part 2, CSM's story is concluded already.

There's something about this ending that doesn't sit right with me, it feels like an ass-pull in a number of ways. This might be due to my lack of understanding, so i'd be glad if somebody could clarify the following things for me:

1) We know that when devils die in Hell, they are reborn on Earth and vice-versa. So why did Makima reincarnate back into Earth after dying there?
And if you say that she was first reborn in Hell but was killed there swiftly and then reborn again back to Earth, consider that we also know from Angel Devil that ALL the devils that appeared on Earth before were killed in Hell by Chainsaw Man. But since there's no Chainsaw Man in Hell currently, who else is doing the killing? At this point it becomes a pure specualtion.

2) If decoy Denji was Pochita he threw from the outer space, then how did his original body get back on Earth? Also, how did he survive all this time without a heart?

3) What does he mean he made chainsaw from Power's blood? Did he inherit her ability to conjure weapons out of blood or is there some other way?

also, the whole thing about cannibalism being love and having to hug that kid was probably the most unsettling thing in this manga ngl... (and not in a good way).

What's unsettling about hugging a kid though?

I will suggest you to re read it, coz chainsawman is quite fast paced, some things might be missed when you binge read it, specially the last arc. I too had to re read it, coz I did skip some points.

And about the last arc, even though chainsawman is fast paced, its pacing is good, but in the last arc pacing felt a bit chaotic and rushed.
Like we were getting some imp info, no time to explain it or digest it just Fight!, Again some info then instant fight, if anime adapts the last arc I expect them to smooth the pacing.

(1) That's misinformation, I think angel was talking abt the devils that were in public safety, and how they heard chainsaw before dying. Now it doesn't mean they were killed by chainsaw, in ch83 makima said

so they might be actually fighting for chainsawman in a battle, and makima gathered all of them.

Chainsawman isn't the executioner of hell, we already saw makima getting destroyed by darkness devil, so there is no rule like only chainsawman can kill them and makima probably got killed in hell again. There is one more theory abt makima reincarnation.

(2) Well actually what he did there was ripped-off his heart from body, and threw his heart towards the earth and his heart regenerated into a new body, the old body that was in space must be still in space or probably destroyed.

The heart is actually the main body, if the heart is still there he can regenrate his whole body. This is true for actually all the hybrids. Like if there hybrid part is still alive they can just regenrate their whole body.
And the state of denji in last arc is still not clear, like that wasn't denji's hybrid form, that might be pochita's true form, but who was in control.

(3) You might have doubt abt that denji clone state too, both of them were denji probably, but one with pochita as his heart just like how there were 2 reze in bomb arc when she was fighting division 2 and like when denji seperated his heart and threw it from space which regenerated into a completely new body.

He did mention that he vaguely remembers to be able to fight like that.

Now the power bit, In ch 90/91 we saw power and denji making a contract, that "come and find me in hell" one, and denji mentioned in ch96 that he almost ended up using all the blood that power gave him.
So, that was power's "power" like other public safety employees denji too made a contract, this contract might actually lead to finding the old power in the new blood devil.

Well this is why I suggest you to re-read chainsawman, fujimoto really dumped a whole load of info in last arc, though most of the things did come together.

I heard the Chief-editor actually lets him go wild(not like fire punch), and his own editor is going to become chief editor of SJ+ .

I remember seeing his comments after weekly chapter, he used to always talk abt food and it was always like why fujimoto talks abt food in weekly comments , and then he gave this plater on last chap. That's what he aiming towards lol.

Honestly felt like Fujimoto rushed through the ending of the arc. Felt like he wanted to quickly end it so he can move onto the 2 arc, so reading the end felt really tiring & messy. Love how everything tied in the end tho, with Denki recognizing makima from her bite.
I was fucking flabbergasted to see that that was only the first arc.

With the premise of the series you could immidiately make out a typical shounen storyline: Monster hunting universe, main character gets possessed by a monster, get the monsters powers, joins a monster hunting institution, first arcs are about monster hunting, then the story delves into hunting the main antagonist, the mega monster (the gun devil), Denji made a promise to the defeat the gun devil to makima, the girl he loves, so because of the power of friendship/love, he's going to defeat the mega monster.
Boy did that get turned on its head

Honestly this is the one of the manga that I couldn't predict when reading. It's also fucking ruthless with character deaths. I guess Power is going to get brought back, but us Aki simps will just forever sit in sadness

Who would've thought that Chainsaw Man could come from the same fucked up head that gave us the shit show that was Fire Punch.

PS: For every one that doesn't seem to understand, Makima is DEAD, devils on the other hand don't really die, they just go to Hell when they "die", then reencarnate when they get killed in Hell as well, unless they are devoured by Chainsaw Man, which Denji isn't.

Makima = Control Devil
Nayuta = Control Devil
Makima =/ Nayuta

I wonder if he can somehow give her back her old memories somehow since he made a contract with her that made her give “her body” ... since her blood alone had consciousness inside him.... then again I’m pretty sure he used up all her blood fighting makima but still.... ah I sped read this sleep deprived but all I know is

That was a very satisfying ending, at least for me, Makima is gone yet she came back, I liked that. Denji is doing his own thing as the hero Chainsaw Man I guess, I liked that too.

Overall this manga has been amazing, it was really fun and gave me the feeling this rare feeling, it's when a series is so good, you keep reading it without getting bored or anything. Loved the overall message and that hug was very wholesome. I really loved the artstyle, it reminded me alot of Dorohedoro which I absolutely loved. The atmosphere was really nice throughout the story. Some things could've been different but I still enjoyed it alot. Can't wait for the adaptation by MAPPA, excited to see how it'll turn out. I wonder if we will get a part 2 or anything like that. It's been an awesome ride reading this, until then later.

wait Devils eaten by Chainsaw Man cease to exist right? so how come the Control Devil reincarnated? i hope there is an explanation about that or maybe because Denji is a hybrid of Human and the Chainsaw Devil so that may explain why for some reason

or maybe the blood of Power which disrupts the regeneration of Makima last so long until Denji's stomach was able to digest Makima

dang chapter 53 says by the Angel Devil that when a devil is killed on earth they get reincarnated in hell and when they are killed in hell they are reincarnated on earth, so how come the Control Devil that is killed on earth was reincarnated on earth again

It's because Denji ate her, and not Pochita/the chainsaw devil which she would've wanted.

It can be inferred that the Control Devil was killed immediately (maybe by the Darkness Devil, although if she reincarnates in a child form every time maybe much weaker devils can take her out there) once she reincarnated in Hell, meaning she has already reincarnated again back on Earth.

Denji basically found a loophole and ate her in human form, since eating her technically isn't an "attack" he found a workaround for her revival ability and since it wasn't pochita eating her she wouldn't be erased. i swear only denji could think of such a weird workaround lmao

As for the reincarnation thing, as said above she basically must have been spawnkilled in hell lol, i'm sure there were plenty of demons who had beef wit her so i'm not surprised

I loved every part of this. The most enjoyable manga I've read to date, and I can only think of 2 or 3 anime that I enjoyed as much as this. The plot was great, international assassins and control devil arcs were both legitimate 10/10s, or close to it. And I have so much respect for this cast, 3 of the characters (power, makima, aki) are in my top 25, but denji is still a top tier mc and the rest of the cast is just awesome. Can't wait for p2 and anime.

Such a unique experience all throughout, very good read, enjoyed it a lot. Excited to see what part 2 does, with that being said I’m very content if this is how it did end.

This was incredible and exceeded my expectations. The characters were amazing and fights were sick. I really like how they ended this first part and I wonder where it’s gonna go from here on. Hopefully it continues being this amazing

I'd rate this so much higher if the story slowed down slightly. It kinda made me apathetic to every characters issue besides Aki and Power. This didn't feel like a WSJ story though. Was something else entirely and it was one of the highest impact reads I've digested heh
