Meh I feel like it's the same thing happening again and again. This one was a little better than last week. I hope they add some sort of plot line soon.

The role play scene gave me a hard on

I dont know how you can think this is the same thing ever week, its been pretty different every single episode
1st episode is a guy trying to be a superhero and failing
2nd episode is him becomming more of one
3rd is him being a sensation and stopping a copycat
4th is now hes been reduced to a sidekick
5th is him coming to terms with what hes doing and breaking off
6th is a episode centered around him running away from people

They arent repeating anything and changing up the game alot with each new episode, adding ina "plot" would just disrupt the balance and ruin the comedy of the series. comedies dont need to shoe horn in a pathetic attempt of a plot to be good, its series that try to throw in a plot that kill comedies like kill la kill

My new favourite video on youtube.

Reading about other people speculation regards Goto's girlfriend made me sad :( But coupling it with the opening sequence it makes sense and now I'm double-sad :( I, for myself, was toying with the idea that maybe she's hospitalized or physically handicapped. I foreshadow a lot of feels in upcoming episodes...

I really cannot get to like this girl, but Gotou's comments in conversation with her make me like him more so her presence isn't that bad. So now Masayoshi too got new weapons. :O Well, at least he thought about the use of them first, so that's fine. And poor Ishihara at the end~ D;

I guess with ending mentioning it we will see soon who his girlfriend is. My bet is they haven't met before and that they know each other only from internet, so there is pretty big chance it is Ishihara (they saw each other at Masayoshi's place yet they could be denying they know each other by then. And there were few texts where his gf was writing about Masayoshi (see this scene at episode 2 around 5:48). I bet that for some reason Gotou was lying about his job and place where he is staying when he was with her last time.

But I know, this would be really obvious. They can easily introduce other woman that hasn't been in the show yet. Though there is pretty chance she will be close to someone other from the team. Other things are also possible. In this point of show, I don't thing we can easily guess cause we don't have enough clues to find the solution. More like I smell some fishy red herring in this.

I think the "villain" is going to be that guy trying to find out Flamenco's identity, that put out the 10mil bounty. I could see him eventually hiring thugs to catch him, and when they don't work, training real villains to send against him.

Vengeance of everyone's grudge.

Finally, a good episode.

Mari (and trio) can have her identity exposed and arrested and I could care less. :P

+2 Goto. For fighting awesomeness and loving his GF.

Flamenco gets a power-up (weapons); Goto shows off his prowess (flippin' people <3), as well as showing the inner goodness of humanity when the guy changed his mind about Flamenco after he saved him. Plus those weapons were actually really damn cool, convenient and non-lethal! They're pretty useful for subduing people; not hurting them (learn from it, Mari e.o).

Lol@GotoxFlamenco. Goto blushing about it is too cute.

Now if only the episodes keep improving from here on...

Didn't Goto have his girlfriend's umbrella around the time he visited Masayoshi and Ishihara came to pay visit? Goto and his girlfriend have likely met before as Goto has her umbrella. Also I would think Ishihara had had some reaction to the umbrella if it was hers, or Goto had had a reaction when he heard Masayoshi's manager would come over. Of course they could both have faked it, but it seems more likely to me that Goto's gf hasn't been introduced at all yet.

Are we going to see office supplies as part of Samurai Flemenco's merchandise?
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Nice episode, Hazama is becoming really awesome and Goto to the rescue :)

Why is everyone assuming that Goto's girlfriend is actually dead? He's texting to her about every day and didn't she left her umbrella at his place the last time they met? I don't think this is the kind of anime where Goto has a [childhood] trauma, imaginary friend or anything like that, it just doesn't fit with the rest of the story at all. Would it be that unlikely if she were just a normal girl he met online?...

As for Gotou's girlfriend, I'm fascinated by her dream:

quote:
>I dreamed I was being squished by a giant cat.
>Then it started making cat-paw sushi
>The hiramane was excellent.

What?

I have a feeling that was an excellent throw-away joke, but I just didn't understand the subtitles quickly enough.

Like, I guess "cat pawn sushi" means "sushi shaped like a cat's paw because we like cutely designed foods."

And the hiramane probably refers to the ingredients in the sushi.

My theory is that she's just an ordinary modern Japanese woman - she has her own job, she doesn't need a man, so she's not willing to marry Gotou.

Also Gotou is a Japanese cop. He's not likely to be highly imaginative or psychotic. Japanese cops get put through some serious background checking for psychological stability and social appropriateness.

Speaking of cops, though, Gotou's girlfriend could easily introduce a conflict that would screw up his police job, such as yakuza connections or political corruption.

Gotou sure has a weird relationship with his girlfriend - it keeps bothering me throughout the whole series. It's a long-distanced one? OK, but how were they supposed to go for a sudden date when Gotou had some time free? Or do they simply not live together and call it a "long" distance?
They sure text each other a lot, and it's hard to imagine Gotou texting himself (assuming Nachtwandler_21 is right about her being dead) in the first episode while drinking a beer at home. The reply came like next moment after he sent her the "You did..." (referring to the forgotten umbrella)... So unless he has a dual-SIM phone and texts something different then he spells to us... I can hardly believe his girlfriend is dead...
But it's weird... Totally weird... Doesn't feel like they are in love at all despite her cutely-phrased messages. Their relationship gives more of a "Yes, I have a boy/girlfriend, so I'm normal - don't bother me any further" for the society, or even for themselves. Like a psychological shielding of some sort.

I also don't really get Mari. What's with all these ball-stepping scenes? They are clearly overdoing it. It wasn't even funny this episode at all (In fact I don't see the show as comedic as many here do - I really don't get which scenes are so hilarious for others). Fetish for uniforms, especially for those of saviours, like policemen or heroes... is like applying it to her own self. And then this dominating behaviour towards men... and the kisses with Moe. It only raises questions about her complexes and/or sexuality... Let's see how the "sailor moon" develops...

I'm also getting more and more disturbed about the unrealistic elements of the show getting a bigger and bigger role - I mean all those superhero tools and the batman-like stunts - it's just meh, really. And what happens to all the bruises? I mean, come on, Masayoshi's a model! How does he manage to be so good at hiding from Ishihara and the rest of the agency/TV crew the wounds he constantly gets ?

Finally I, too, feel that there hasn't been much plot development despite Masayoshi's clearly growing as a hero and becoming stronger with each episode. It's just that there's been no arch enemy set yet. So it's kind of difficult to see in which direction the show's going and what's the point of it. Just some fights here and there. In other words, where's the story? Where's the main conflict? Is it the society which is the antagonist? Is it the High Rollers guy who's then driving the society mad against Samurai Flamenco? I really seek for a better definition here. Because without a conflict, without a main enemy, there's no real story.

Well... ball-kicking is an effective way to prevent a male from recovering quickly...

In all seriousness though, I simply figured that her behavior, ball-kicking and some others you mentioned, was indicating that she is mentally unstable. I mean, she is pretty violent (ie. producing the first blood splatters in the show) and is doing the whole hero-thing just for kicks. At least that's how it came across to me.

But I have to agree with you on the subject of scale. Considering how our protagonist received tools before the show is even halfway trough was... unexpected, to say the least. Hopefully this escalation is made well. Otherwise, disappointment shall happen.

As for the plot. From what I've gathered, the episodes we've seen so far have been setting things up. Samurai Flamenco is now known, has allies, a mentor, an origin, some tools (or abilities)... basically, something that every hero requires. A nemesis should be on this checklist eventually.

Good point. The guys were knocked out already, yet she kept on kicking, violently, like several times. I really hope the show will reflect upon her acts later on in the story. There's just too much attention put to this (not to mention how the Japanese are usually very careful with portraying violence on TV/in manga as those might get followers in reality).
In fact, I've been wondering since ep.5 how Mari herself perceives justice. It's clearly different from Masayoshi's, and she even said that herself. So her justice is not to track the actual law, but to severely punish. It's perfectly in sync with her own words: "let the evil die". This makes me really, really curious about her past. Has she ever been assaulted by men or perhaps even raped? Where does this will to punish, and punish violently, especially towards the guys, come from? I hope we'll see that sooner or later. I mean I really hope so, because this definitely holds a big potential for a good drama.

Yeah, I still kinda don't trust completely the tool provider and think that he might turn out to be a bad guy in the end... However, the post-ED part of the episode pretty much killed most of my concerns for him. We'll see...

Yes, absolutely. I see that, of course. But I don't know, it still feels somewhat wrong to spend a quarter of the story on that. Or maybe it's not even about the length... just that the episodes felt a little repetitive.. Oh well, I know, it's difficult to satisfy me these days with a show, so... let's keep on watching ^^

Wow, this was actually a pretty good episode. Those tools seem like something I would find in a cereal box... aside from the razor blade. And lol'd at Moe learning to crotch stomp. I really think Sumi is Goto's girlfriend, only because we haven't seen those two together, and her personality seems so different from the girl on the phone that it would be an awkward twist.

A uniform fetish is actually really common. I don't think it's the idea of him being a savior or anything that gets her going... more that type of uniform itself rather than a hero's like Samurai Flamenco. Because I can definitely dig a girl in uniform (i.e. UPS uniform are nice, and they're pretty similar), and I don't find anything appealing about a magical girl outfit. And she apparently likes the idea of being punished... which hopefully doesn't entail too much. :o Also, I think she's just playing with Moe, so she doesn't have to try as hard... which I think Moe realizes.

I also don't like where it's headed with the gadgets and stuff, I was worried it might start going down this road. I mean I love heroes like Batman and Green Arrow, but it feels too lighthearted for that kind of stuff and lacks any badassery. Not to mention the gadgets are kinda meh, and a bit unbelievable... dem wall-climb potholders. But we'll have to see how it goes, it could still turn out pretty cool, I have to agree Kousoku11 about it setting up the plot, because I keep expecting it to get better and better... which I think it has been slightly, this episode was the first one I actually enjoyed.

Well, there's a few ways people usually see justice, and they're generally centered around humiliation, imprisonment, or death. Honestly, I'm a male, and I don't see anything offensive with kicking them in the nuts. I mean, I took a non-traditional martial arts class for a couple of years, and we were always taught that anything goes, because an assaulter on streets isn't going to hold anything back. Which in turn lead to all the male (and a few females) students fearing me because somehow my foot always found a way to their crotch... to the point where the highest ranked, like 35 year old, dude had to start wearing a cup... so I guess that goes without saying.

The way I see it, it all depends on how far you're willing to go and what needs to be done. Not that I couldn't see it, but I don't think stomping on their balls is really drastic enough for something like rape. Personally I think aside from a little bit of sadistic enjoyment, she's just making sure to set them in their place. I think criminals, particularly ones like gangbangers and the like earn a bit of physical punishment. And really, most people wouldn't learn their lesson simply from a beating... but something humiliating like having your balls publically stomped by a small girl like Mari would definitely teach them a thing or two. It would at least make them think twice about doing it again.

Is that Pink Panther music!?! :D

I thought of that too, it's similar, but I think it's just partly because I don't know/never listen to the full Pink Panther music.

Are we going to see office supplies as part of Samurai Flemenco's merchandise?

It wasn't even funny this episode at all (In fact I don't see the show as comedic as many here do - I really don't get which scenes are so hilarious for others).

If you can't find this funny then this show is not for you. I was smiling all the way and laughed at some scenes.

Edit: I still can't get used to the balls stomping of those Flamenco Girls.. It's tripled now ~.~

Edit2: I have to say that the nunchuck, man Hazama was using it like a pro!
