| saw this in theaters yesterday, it's the first anime film i've went to see in real life. i was happy, i was mad, i cried, and felt that rollercoaster again. i like the little similarities and callbacks sakuta had in this movie that connects to the girls. the time travel/living the same day like koga, not being able to be seen like mai, and having two of him like futaba. neat little thing there. i don't think i like shouko very much as she is, but i have mad respect for her and how she wanted everyone (except her, of course) to remain happy |

| Watched it last night and it was pretty good and on par with the TV series. Everything gets resolved a bit too easily, but I don't really mind. Although I wasn't getting emotionally attached to anything that was going on, I still enjoyed the movie since the story and the characters had me interested. Also, I know it was supposed to be a serious moment and all, but me and half of the theater's audience started dying when Sakuta in a bunny outfit was about to be hit by the vehicle. That slo mo really just added more to the moment XD 7/10 |

| It had its pacing issues and lack of exposition at times, but I was thoroughly entertained by this movie. It was emotional with its twists, entertaining with its jokes and made me appreciate Sakuta and Mai even more than I did before, since their relationship really felt genuine to me after seeing this. Shouko also got a ton of characterization, which was lovely since she was treated much better with her arc than most girls with their's. I'd rate this movie either an 8 or 9 (still undecided) but what I'm sure is that, its the 2nd best arc behind the first one with Mai. |

| Just watched it last night, first time I had the opportunity to watch an anime movie in theatres, great experience. Loved the movie, definitely a fantastic finale to the series. I'm just wondering if the movie set up a paradox... Sakuta didn't meet Shoko until the future, so how would his "present" (past) self want to donate his heart to her? Why would present/past Shoko have the motivation as a kid to have faith in surviving if she only met Sakuta in the future? I think it went a bit wonky with the time travel stuff there, I feel there is most certainly a paradox. Either way I loved the movie, I definitely had a few tears. 9/10. |

Mai ended up starring in a movie about the illness that Shoko had, they used it to spread awareness about organ donation. Which led to Shoko appearing healthy and presumably received a heart from someone else. Ye that kinda eluded me too, as I totally expected Shoko to be gone but got surprised when she was here. Maybe Mai had dreams about the whole situation leading to her doing this movie and just before Shoko got critical which is a massive a stroke of luck but I guess the puberty syndrome saved the day in this case as noone died. |

| Finally got to watch the movie today, originally was supposed to watch it last week on the same night Joker premiered. Unfortunately, someone thought it was funny to troll the theater and made some sort of threat which closed the place for the day. Anyways, I did ended up watching both Joker and AoButa on other days. Joker was a good watch and AoButa was fine. Stuck around to the end to hear the ED one last time before I never look back at this series again, besides playing against it often in Weiss Schwarz, since AoButa is very powerful and popular in that TCG. |

| I think this was the first series-related anime movie I've seen in a cinema. If it's supposed to feel like you're just watching the series, it certainly did that. Really, I enjoyed it, but I certainly enjoyed the 1st/Mai's arc first more, and to my own annoyance, I thought we were going to see a little more of her and Sakuta together. So my expectations were higher than they should have been. Still, putting that to the side, I certainly enjoyed the arc, especially when we got to the more dramatic moments; but a more fleshed out epilogue between Mai and Sakuta would have certainly put a cherry on top. So it's a 7/10 for me. Also, getting hit by a car to protect yourself, ONLY to fuse together must HURT... or does it? |

| "You know you've reached peak quality when a doujin is better than the actual source series." (Eg. To LOVE-Ru) Just to list a couple of biases. Likes: A good story, characters, writing, romance, a good plot twist or something that breaks expectations (In a good way), 'backstory' and justice. Dislikes: Bad romance, too much fanservice, the harem genre, yuri, yaoi, and bad writing. |

| I thought this movie was horrible in many levels. They had a movie budget and the animation actually looked worse than the show. Very surprised to come back and see the score is so high! Yet, I'm also very happy that people actually enjoyed their cinema experience. I really wished I would've liked it, but at least many people did! |

Spaceship said: destructo22 said: So was Shoko's illness caused by her puberty syndrome? Or vice versa? My take is that Shoko's time travel manifestation of puberty syndrome was caused by her anxiety about the future stemming from the uncertainty created by her illness. Her illness came first, in other words. I could be wrong though. This is true. In order: First: Shoko was already sick with a failing heart. We don't know when was this seen but most heart diseases in children are genetic in nature. Second: When she received that assignment in fourth grade it made her anxious because she cannot see herself living that long to fulfill these dreams. Third: This anxiety caused her Puberty Syndrome to manifest, and that is to travel between timelines and to realize her dreams. That's why her assignment sheet plays a deus-ex machina important role in her PS. Fourth: Her involvement in Sakuta's life is similar to why Kanade Tachibana (in Angel Beats) was lost in the purgatory – they wanted to meet and change the life of their donor for the better. However Shoko's intention was to let Sakuta live so Mai-san can still be happy. Only when Mai-san altered that timeline did Shoko have to intervene once more. ThiagoTGM said: Kou_Keiki said: Just saw this in the movie theater. Honestly was pretty confused by the ending... How come Sakuta still ended up going to the same high school as Mai and met Mai if Sakuta would have never went to the high school without meeting Shouko? From what I understood, While he never met her in that timeline, he had dreams of the meetings from the original timeline. Since all she had done was talk to him anyway (as in none of the help she gave involved physically doing anything), it had the same effect of making him take the specific decisions that led to the original timeline. This reminded me of a comment from someone in Reddit on why the series was titled as such – and this also applies to the title of the Aobuta movie. FaDoug writes: "So, at the end of the movie, I was wondering how Sakuta was able to remember Shoko if the timeline had basically been reset. Of course the answer is obvious: he remembered her from the dreams he had of her… If Sakuta had not met up with Mai, then he would be dreaming of her. In fact, he would be dreaming of all the events that occurred in the series when they're supposed to happen in the other timeline. So, the reason why Sakuta doesn't dream of bunny girl senpai (or any of the others) is because the events involving them happened. If they didn't happen, he would be dreaming of them." (Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/SeishunButaYarou/comments/d0q0ha/seishun_buta_yarou_wa_yumemiru_shoujo_no_yume_wo/f39t16e/) In Aobuta's world, dreams are events that happened in another timeline. Everyone's dreams mentioned there (most notably Nodoka's dream of seeing her sister die in a traffic accident – which is what happened in the "present" timeline") were manifestations of the other timelines "converging" or "being played back" into their own through their subconscious. Futaba confirms this in her explanations using relativity, quantum entanglement, and Laplace's demon, and also in her dialogues with Sakuta by the railroad crossing and after Sakuta saving himself in the accident. I propose that chaos theory and not relativity, as what Futaba theorized, can explain to as why Sakuta and Mai still get to meet up with each other, and why the final scene happened as such: since the initial starting conditions (the accident – which Shoko bases her time-travelling distance in relation to Sakuta) have been changed by Mai, the only way for everyone to be freed of their conundrum is to start all over again to the moment when the timelines diverged – Shoko being unsure of her classroom assignment. Come to think of it, this is Episode 10 and 13 of Angel Beats! all over again… Kenpls said: LlamaSan said: Kenpls said: destructo22 said: So was Shoko's illness caused by her puberty syndrome? | just completed it. thank you cloverworks, though animation quality is not that good. so, sakuta's puberty syndrome was from he lost his heart to save shoko. in the end his heart still runs in his chest, so it means he would not have had puberty syndrome from the beginning? then, since everyone's puberty syndrome is solved, why is this (original novel) series still airing? is there any problem unsolved? i give it 7.5/10 |

| Production wise could have been much better for the scale of a movie but then I realize probably the series isn't that big to put such high expectations. It still lived up to the standard of a 'for fans only' movie though so I'm rating this the same as the show. The story was great. What made me love the series is how everything is the story directing. Like the conclussion to everything is told very well as always. Now I hope there will be a 2nd season. 8/10 anyway. |

| That was another successful story from this series. Everything went great from start to end, and I loved it. Everything is fine now although I thought the ending will be more sad, still I'm more glad that it does end up being in a good one. It was nice that this is also emotional, I really felt good crying at the last half of the movie. We got to know more the characters, especially Shouko and as well as Mai which is nice and that lead them to a decision where everyone lives. Anyways, getting a depressed Sakuta instead of running Sakuta from Kimi no Sei is still great. |

The episode discussions are supposed to be for people who have already seen the episode so there's really no need for summaries. No need for spoiler tags for events that happen during the movie either, unless you want to refer to the source material past the episode. |

| not gonna lie, had barely any connection with shouko and her drama. also this whole dream stuff with resetting the timeline is such a plot convenience to end the story on a positive note. as someone mentioned above, the story is really compressed and it really feels so s1 was pretty average, so giving this movie anything higher than a 4 would be really pushing it |

| After finally seeing it, I thoroughly enjoyed it and as most people say : This story ark is 2 maybe 3 times better than all story arks, mostly due to how much bigger the budget is for the money. But damn this was great and I see why people kept suggesting this to me, not because I saw the season, but because this is one of the movies people really liked (most movies are either filler or downgrade of the original series, though this 1 was great) Really interested what comes next though, where the story goes. |

| Wow that was just amazing, it just elevated the entire series for me. Never seen an anime movie that so neatly wraps up the series it's from. Just a great story overall from the start of the series to the end, but they really saved the best for last, halfway through I thought we were just going to get the cliched obvious ending but boy was I wrong and really glad I was. |

| I'm lost for words, that's how amazing I thought it was. Seeing Mai die made me scream out because that's not something I ever want to see again, even though it was pretty obvious that she was gonna come out alive. The great thing about the ending was the fact that it was a happy ending with Shoko and Sakuta both recalling each other. Because most "tradegi" shows tend to end it one a bitter sweet note and that's why I'm so happy that we got a happy ending. All the characters shined throughout the whole movie! I also rank this as the second best arc just behind the 1st arc and toppling Kaedes arc for the number 2 spot. Now if somebody could just start translating the novels from volume 8 that'd be great! |

| Excellent movie! Absolutely incredible! What a ride for fans of the series. I’ve shed some tears multiple times and was on the edge of my chair often throughout the movie. I was gonna give this a 10/10 though I’m not so sure if I’m satisfied with the ending. Perhaps it was the right thing to happen but to have everything reset and revert.. mhm kinda hurts. But regardless this movie an ez 9/10 and on my favorites! MG I loved the setting and moods in this movie, whether it be the emotional scenes or the cozy christmas/winter backgrounds. This movie also got me thinking.. geez.. idk but I will surely remember this one and probably will rewatch it x times in the future so cute! Now that’s how it should be done. Sweet place to live! |

| Holy frickin fricks, I was expecting another one of those movies where nothing really happens like an OVA kind of thing but wow. I don’t really like doing this to movies but it deserves a 10/10, the whole series is just great. I think it had a good explanation and the suspense was great I didn’t think there was anyway they would’ve been able to overcome that situation. Great ending *clap clap*. |

But I ended up watching it all yesterday so it's okay. The series started off strong, but kinda went downhill for me during the Kaede arc. He was so upset that amnesiac Kaede "died" but really it didn't feel like she died to me, more like she just lost her memories as an amnesiac. Now the movie was really good in my opinion, but going by the logic of Kaede's syndrome, everyone died because everyone lost their memories. Other than that, the movie had an interesting plot with unexpected plot twists. It gave me a lot of Steins;Gate vibes. It was a really enjoyable series and I hope they continue with a 2nd season. Mod Edit: Merged duplicated posts; please use the edit button. Thanks....interesting ideas. Your idea helped me finally get the film...sort of. Basically, Shoko by accepting her fears whilst her fourth grade self is able to trigger a series of events which lead to the favoured ending of her getting a new heart...without Mai or Sakuta dying. The film is not understandable in my opinion without understanding Shoko's fourth grade homework as the trigger.. |

Overcoming her fear as a fourth grader...with help from Sakuta and Mai 'approving her homework' in one of the last scenes..triggered the events which led to her surviving. Lots of butterfly effect things.... |
