I could give it even 10/10 if Takumi x Jun happen but since we got such ending I give 8/10 because message was such wonderful! *.* That Jun in cafe! It really hit me! >.< Animation and music was also amazing! I cried so much! But romance... I feel like Jun x Dai was forced, Really, don't liked that plot twist! Why in AnoHana they could make it? Why there is always like this! Eh -.- Jun is so precious! <3 So cute! Damn, this was such good movie, but that plot twist ruined it -.- |

all-around very good movie. Really liked Daiki in this, in fact, noone was really a jerk... well... except Jun's dad. |

Kokoro ga Sekebitagatterunda is one of the great dramatic movie that I have watched, but... the plot twist (specially to the romantic end of the story), affects the positive insight of the audience towards the movie because most of the watchers (including me) preferred Jun x Takumi romantic shipping and I am somewhat disappointed to the ending. Nevertheless, the movie has great multimedia elements and the story-line is complex because it expresses metaphoric illustrations to describe the struggles of Jun, which is the representation of the story of an egg, herself, and the prince. Those things are all about her psychological trauma about her past experience with her family because of her uncontrollable expression of thoughts that contributes on what she was experiencing. Because of those unfortunate past, it made her depressed that contributes to her selective mutism towards other people and some comorbid symptoms like experiencing stomach-ache when she would talk a lot to other people. Someone would say that her condition may be exaggerated, but it could possible because of that prolonged and unresolved trauma (started from her childhood until she reached high-school; gueh! imagine that!) that triggers her condition. It must be watched by us anime fans who likes this kind of dramatic genre. :) |

It was nice that she called out the two faced whore at the end, and Japanese baseball boys are the superior option anyways (sort of like a male Yamato nadeshiko), so everything worked out. After hyping it up so much the movie was always going to live or die by the musical scene. I think it stroke a good balance between realism and flashiness. Being dragged into the whole musical mess as one of the regular students would be some grade A bullshit though. |

Aah, that was great. Guess I've just seen movie of this year now. Both exectution and dialogues were brilliant. The moment when Naruse got back and started singing her song in the theatre was very strong and emotional one, almost unforgettable for me. Highlight and centerpiece of this movie for sure. Yes, I the last part after that could have been cut better for more emotional impact and Tasaki's confession in the end came out of nowhere as there were barely any hints of it but that doesn't change the impression this movie had on me. It's fair to say that this can't compete with AnoHana (what can, right?) but it's definitely worth the watch and I enjoyed it from beginning to the end. I was also glad they managed to avoid usual cliches and that "prince" got his other "princess", that was really nice story twist. 9/10 All-in-all, a very nice surprise at the beginning of this year and the movie I'll definitely remember. |

Can't understand who complains about the "plot twist", what a juvenile way of thinking. Should have been pretty clear that Takumi didn't liked Jun in "that way", believe in this was only a misunderstanding by Natsuki. Takumi said more than one time the he regret not gave said what he wanted to her. And at the ending Daiki"s confession was unilateral. The best thing about the romance in this movie was that they didn't ride the cliché route uniting Jun and Takumi. After all the real prince to who Jun wanted to say a lot of things was her father. |

I really enjoyed the movie. Realistic ending. For once, I didn't want a cliche happy ending where Jun would end up with Takumi. I think Dai and Jun is an acceptable pairing. I had a feeling they would someway end up together after Jun defended Dai in the family restaurant. The song where Jun entered and sang sounded exactly like "What Child Is This". Even my brother who came out of his room said, who's playing a Christmas song. LOL! 9/10 *** BTW, where can I find the movie where the subs aren't cut off/inconsistent during the singing scenes? |

Just letting you know that the original song is a folk piece called "Greensleeves" :) But yeah, I think most people (perhaps mainly America or English-speaking countries?) know the tune from "What Child is This?" I agree, but people like to see what they want to see (or don't see what they don't want to see), and I'm guilty of it sometimes as well. Even though at first I did briefly think that Jun and Takumi would be a cute couple, it was soon clear to me that he wasn't over Natsuki and that he really did only see Jun as a person you'd want to cheer for. And there was just no way Takumi would've accepted Jun's confession after what happened in the hallway. I like what you mentioned about the significance of the rejection as well. Romance wasn't really a big part of movie, but I did catch myself thinking that Jun and Dai would be cuter together (than Jun and Takumi) when Dai first blushed and also when just the two of them were walking home. Focusing on the romance too much though would be missing the point of the movie. |

I couldn't help but feel bitter at the ending. I understand the "realism" they were trying to play up at the end where things don't go Naruse's way, but the last scene felt sort of dismissive to her character. The movie centered mostly around Naruse's struggle to reclaim her words and expression again, and Naruse and Sakagami's blossoming relationship. Why not give them a cathartic scene with just Naruse, or Naruse and Sakagami together as friends? Instead, we're given a scene with Nitou and Sakagami, and then Tasaki and Naruse. The movie barely hinted towards Tasaki and Naruse as anything more than platonic. It's like they decided, oh, if Nitou and Sakagami are together... we need Tasaki and Naruse (the leftovers) to get together so everyone can be happy! Would Naruse really be happy to have Tasaki confess to her like that, right after Sakagami's rejection? I just felt betrayed by a movie that started off strong at the start, and then went downhill afterwards. While Naruse's problems were essentially "solved" there was no real time for us to reflect on it. All I needed was a shot of Naruse by herself being content with her improvement thanks to her friends, or Naruse and Sakagami reflecting on how far they've come... Or all of them, together, as a group. |

This movie is a humongous shit, so hideous even the bogeyman would be embarassed upon watching it!! So, aparently the general consensus believed that the ending was the smeliest part! The story was very promising if you take it out of the synopsis... now that you read this, be aware of mari okada, this bitch specialized herself in this kind of unsavory smell... This kind of anime with plot driven character would surely harm anyone's pulmannory capability with its unapetizing odor... Alright mate let's see... meet the sheep 1. Jun Naruse She lost her voice due to her trauma in childhood upon her naiveness broke her familiy circumstances consequentially. it is strongly hinted Bitch is highly delusional. I don't know about japanese norm and shit but her parent blamed her for their separation, this alone feels out of realism if they play it! Surely you could argue about "for the sake of plot", but c'mon, nobody is that stupid. the story revolves around her inability to speak and her neverending struggle to overcomes her trauma. now the relevancies of romance genre is to assume that one character sexually attracted to the other. in jun's case, it's sakagami... they prepared the musical together, then BAM motherfucker! right in the face! around this time the smells tolerable alright! then, she acted like a BITCH she was! running away abandoned her effort and her classmates! this is the very quality that made her character reeks UNREAL! i mean she shows determination then suddenly she fucked her life! as they play her she comes back again to finish the musical! and the classmates gracefully accept her! FUCKING CONVINIENT! 2. Sakagami Takumi Your supposedly average japanese boy with pretty face. naive boy that live as the personification of plot! 3. Tasaki Daiki A predator sportsman! he asked every women there is for a date! WTF! he's a fucking PIMP! a convinient tool for the writer for unexpected happy ending! 4. Nitou Natsuki The another bitch! convinient tool for love triangle! be there to shape up the conflict as the writer wants it! There! Characters has no striking moral, no theme, they play realism yet debilitatingly smells so foul! Do not watch this alone! watch with your lover so you'll have reason to stay stupid and says this movie was good just to not ruining the mood!!! |

as someone who doesn't talk much like the main girl in the movie, I relate to the movie. yes, I enjoyed it. the flow of the story is great. I also love the artstyle that resembles AnoHana (since I'm fan of that series too) .. the last part of the musical where Naruse made an entrance was really touching .. It would be nice if Naruse end up with prince guy, I was kinda disappointed. but I didn't expect Daiki to confess his feelings, so I think they're much better of a couple.. |

It felt way too weird for Daiki to confess, although I like the idea of them being a couple. Just due to each others nature and personality, and how out of left field they both are for each other. Either way, the movie was a great watch, and I really enjoyed all the singing and that is the last thing I normally watch. Okay my thoughts on the whole Nitou and Takumi is that Nitou claimed she was dating "Someone" when in her own mind she was still dating Takumi because she still love's him and how they parted was very rough but reading the Manga about this, it seems she wanted to protect him no matter what, which is why she won't tell anyone who she is dating and even during the chat they have after the clean-up Takumi figures that out. Still wish we got a future look at them.. |

Well there wasn't much romance development (maybe of time limit), and there is prequel manga about Takumi and Nita, but still think Takumi and Jun ending would've been much better. Seems like some people really don't like it, as for me it was very good. There are not so much romance related movies and series so i waited quite a long time for it to come out and i can say now that it was really worth waiting. |

Ohmygod, those goddamn subs were terrible. I appreciate the work they did to sub it, but just...ugh. I'm glad I understand some basic Japanese cause those subs weren't able to make out multiple people talking apparently. That out of the way... This movie wasn't cringe-worthy, imo. Was it cliche? Yeah. But most dramas are cliche. Actually, what isn't cliche now with the amount of stories we have? AnoHana is no better (for those praising the hell out of it). I might be biased here as I relate to the main characters quite a bit. I was never one of many words irl, and if I did end up losing track of what I was saying, I'd end up realizing I'm saying pointless crap no one cares about (nor listening to), or I'm saying rude things. As the main characters do, I also hold in multiple thoughts/opinions and have regretted not saying them when they needed to be said. This movie was nice to watch since it hit close to home. The only "eh" part, was the ending, like everyone else said. They didn't go much into Dai's character, so his decision to confess was really out of the blue. I mean, we did see him blush and whatnot here and there when holding a conversation with Jun, the five times...but that felt more like, "ermahgerd, what is this tiny cute thing? I must protect her from the bad in this world" kind of thing, rather than love at first sight. It was obvious after the point that Takumi's inner thought of "It's nice being able to talk to her again like this" or w/e, that he still had some lingering feelings for Natsuki. Jun never had a chance to begin with (poor girl). If they actually went into Dai a bit more, I wouldn't mind him confessing as much. I prefer the everyone is happy kind of endings anyways. It'd leave an awkward taste in my mouth if it didn't. |

Great movie although, I wished the fleshed out the characters more though, everyone(especially the Main Cast) felt like a foil for Jun. I thought the ending was nice since i liked Dai alot(were alot alike) but like i said Jun was the only character who got fleshed out properly so it was kinda meh( the lack any notable romance also hurt it). Also we also never got to see the culmination of the pairings anyway so i ultimately dont care. All in all it was good but not something ill watch again, same with AnoHana. |

This is going to be a very.. Long post. And I rarely post things about my opinion. Beware spoilers. I watched this movie with my best friend, then my boyfriend. This movie struck us in the feels and right at home because we relate to the characters. To me, it really did. In the beginning of the movie, I was confused as to why the egg was there until it dawned on me later. I don't know if anyone takes this in a symbolic way, but the egg to me was very symbolic. And I'm a sucker for symbolism and try to make it in any way possible because it helps me understand the characters more. (in some way) Through the movie, I was totally rooting for Sakagami and Jun. Like I REALLY wanted them to be together, and I understand it's cliche for the main hero and heroine to be together. However, when I think about it, it will be cliche anyway because in MOST animes like this, the main guy character is always with the long hair chick. It doesn't irritate me until an event happens in the shipping that clicks that they are meant to be. In this case..Well, I had thought JunxSakagami was the way to go until Nito and his whole shut down with the confession. First time, it broke my heart. The second time, I understood. See, I thought of it as this in my head and it made sense. Dai played the menacing egg in the musical. The egg to Jun was technically her inner self. Jun felt hurt after realizing that you know, the other two are together and still love each other. Dai, the one played as the egg, asking her out is like asking herself to give another chance to love and to love herself. Nito was the heroine all along in the play and Takumi was her prince. Shipping was then fine with me. The movie overall was great. Some parts felt iffy to me in a way I can't explain. The songs was amazing, ESPECIALLY Jun's comeback song. It was so powerful and I love it. I also agree that the characters do need some adjustments, but unfortunately, this is all we get... Unless they give us a series fufu. Even a bit vague, the egg still makes sense.. Metaphorically. |

Heh, pretty average to me. I get it revolves around teen romances but still watching some characters go overboard suddenly in emo mode, put me off. I somewhat understand Jun's mind and her personality but Taku remained ambiguous. I mean, he was still in love with Nito but was unexpectedly expressive of his emotions towards Jun. If he favoured even a fraction of his zealous attitude towards Nito, im sure he would have got his feelings across to her. But Taku remained passive spectator towards Nito in first half of movie but when past was revealed it suddenly dawned to him he liked Nito instead of Jun. |

Jun x Daiki would make a lot more sense if we have seen you know, legit interactions? The only legit one was when he said sorry then that's it... This seemed out of the blue. It broke my heart when Takumi rejected her, but then Nito was the one who waited for Takumi for years so yeah. |

That OST was really moving. Oh and that save at the musical.. Wow! I was shocked that Jun got rejected.. even though I felt it was just one-sided. They could've made for a nice pairing but I'm not rejecting Natsumi and Takumi either! Daiki/Jun was.. I don't know? That was really really weird. I guess that train scene was what made him fall for her? I'm a little in between 8 and 9 as I'm a sucker for these kinds of shows... sooo 8.5/10? |

tingy said: I read some of the comments here before going to watch it because I was curious what people thought about it, and I wasn't expecting a lot of "average." I was pretty excited about this movie when I saw the previews and the premise sounded interesting. After reading the comments, I went in with more caution...but I still ended up really enjoying the movie :) It's really sad what happened with Naruse, happily saying something she saw, yet it turned out to be not so much like a fairy tale. I had a feeling from the trailer that the egg would be something she made up, and it's interesting because she her way of coping was to blame it on a part of her, but not her whole self. In the climax, she asked, if it wasn't because she was a chatterbox, then what else was she supposed to blame what happened on? While I was frustrated for not showing up all because she learned that her "prince" liked someone else, it became clear that she's not one of those perfect heroine that you want to root for (well I don't really mean perfect), she's really flawed. She runs away from her problems when she really can't solve them, and ends up trying to blame them on something else. First, it was her tendency to speak a lot. Then, it was Taku's fault for "misleading" her and Nitou's fault because she's such a good girl. While this whole shouting scene was a classic Okada climax, I think it's fitting here more than anything. That when she was finally able to speak, she first shouted out hurtful words and to release her frustration, then she realized that blaming someone or something else got her nowhere. "And then?" Taku accepted everything, and she had nothing to say, except what she truly wanted to say, which was that she liked Taku. I'm glad she took the rejection well :) While I agree that the theme of story isn't very revolutionary, it's something that resonates with everyone, so it's easy for people to like the movie. I can see why it was well received. There's definitely room for improvement (perhaps fleshing out the characters a bit more), but I think overall it was a nice story. Naruse and Taku were a great foil for each other, as Taku spelled it out, that while Naruse couldn't speak, she was able to express herself, unlike Taku who had the ability to speak, but never felt like saying out loud. While Naruse's feeling for Taku wasn't mutual, at least they both said they were glad they met each other, that was a good resolve imo. I didn't care too much for the romance or the baseball club stuff, but I understand that they were important to further flesh out the theme of needing to say what you truly feel, as well as how words can be harmful. I agree that the baseball part was a bit overdone, particularly the shouting in the restaurant. And I'm not too fond of running while shouting/crying and falling either, but it didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the movie. I really liked the character growth the four main had. Tasaki had the most development, and I wasn't surprised that he liked Naruse, the confession at the end was cute :> I mean he blushed when Naruse happily forgave him, and that walk back home with her made me feel like he may have started liking her. And especially when he yelled at Taku, since Tasaki knew that Naruse liked Taku, which could only mean that he liked Naruse enough to notice who she liked. I liked how he mentioned that he never knew how talented or skilled the others in their class were, that they all had their hobbies or things they were good at. Aside from Tasaki, of course Naruse and Taku both were able to grow ever since they started working together. Even the whole class sort of changed, since they were at first rejecting anything that was too much work, to putting their all into it. Of course the sound aspect of the movie was great, loved the bgm, but especially the lyrics with the renditions of classics. I love Greensleeves, and it was a great choice for the ending they wanted, something happy (lyrics) but also mellow. Naruse's entrance was beautiful, it made me cry to when her mother started crying about the main character's voice being taken away in the play. Although it took a long time, Naruse was finally able to convey to her mother how she felt these past years, and how long that incident had weighed on her mind. Overall, definitely a enjoyable movie that did well to communicated its message well. The music was great and fitting, the characters grew throughout the movie. My favorite part was when Taku told Naruse that there was never an egg, and she said that she needed the egg to exist. The egg cracking was her emotions flowing out, and it was established in the beginning that that wasn't a good thing. It becoming scrambled was the mess that she'd make for saying everything on her mind. But yellow often means happiness and courage, and it turns out that breaking out the shell wasn't so bad after all, she had only limited herself to happiness. Apologies for the wall of text. I didn't mean to type so much, but I guess I had a lot to say. Yes ! Thank you for speaking my mind ♥ I really enjoyed reading your review, and I agree with you in most - if not all - of what you have said. this movie is a heartwarming and lovely experience to me,I'm glad I was able to come across it ^__^ the only problem for me was the bad English translation : I appreciate their work trying to provide a subtitles for the movie, however it was full of typos and also had some missing untranslated parts (specially when there is more than one talking,or during the musical parts) which affected my enjoyment. unfortunately I don't know the name of the translator (as I downloaded the movie from one of the re-encoding sites, and sometimes they don't mention that -_- ) , and apparently as far as I know, that was the only English sub available, so I will be patiently waiting for a better translation so I can keep the movie among my files. All in all I loved the movie, and I can totally relate to the characters *sighs* |

everything was amazing. idc what other people say. I somewhat relate with Naruse though, but what happened with her life was more tragic. I was spoiled about the ships but i didn't mind. It was a nice twist once in a while. They actually managed to save that musical! that's very impressive. We all have that egg in our hearts. The power of words. It was a memorable and a touching ride. 10/10 for me because it's mostly my guilty pleasures sucked in one film. Anohana + Glee + high school setting + MUSICAL = basically my faves also loved the little Anohana references. |

What a great movie. I like how all the characters are unique and different. Story is interesting, sad, and poetic. I also noticed a parallel between True Tears and this show. Kinda similar if you agree with me. Like how the love triangle resolves in the end, just like in True Tears. Naruse gave him inspiration, made him able to speak and play. But his place in the end was by Nito. Reminded me a lot of True Tears. The touch of reality; But in this show we actually see a glimpse of romance for Naruse and Dai ^_^ What a lovely thing. I'd give this 9/10 for now. P.s. The name Nito made me lol every time cause I'm a big Dark Souls fan, so Gravelord Nito came to mind each time! xD |

Mari Okada always left a bitter taste in my heart. Damnit.. those ending. I always felt that she likes to put the best girl in despair romantically. Look at Anohana, how I had preferred Menma to end up with Jintan but I also realized, she's a ghost, there's never a way. So even though I don't like Anohana ending, I'm still able to accept it because it is realistically acceptable. But here in Kokoro Sake, there's so much more possibilities, so why she didn't pair Naruse with Takumi? It's still make sense if they do. I don't understand, why she always put the interesting character in a not so brilliant ending. In my viewpoint, both Naruse and Takumi are interesting character. Both suffer from family problems, it's like they share the same pain, and they both did admitted that they feel mutually being 'helped' by each other's presence. I mean, it's a sweet relationship.. so why add a fucking secondary girl character that's so generic? Unless Mari also add layers to that secondary girl, but in fact no, she doesn't. The only problem that secondary girl has is her rough junior high relationship with Takumi. I mean.. that's all? And she ended up with the main guy? The main guy.. lol. Let's take a look at Kokoro Connect. Main guy ended up with secondary girl as well, but that fucking secondary girl is fucking interesting, she has layers to personality, and all the flaws she has are decently realistic that makes her likeable, or at least, acceptable. Mari just like to torture me. That's all she's ever good of. lol I have to spite this all out. Other wise I'm afraid I will end up just like Naruse with her tamago pyschological shit. |

I would've enjoyed this more if their were more interactions between daiki x jun. None the less, still pretty good. |

I believe the Anohana staff just did it again. They moved me with this epic movie. Heart-warming, non-cliche ending. 10/10 !!! |

It just makes no sense. The girl's speech got sealed by that prince but then it turned out all that are just her "imagination" for ~10 years. The creator is just trolling. The egg is a metaphor, and I'll leave it at that. |

Once the movie ended - I couldn't help but think that there could've simply been more to it. But looking back (after some contemplation) I think that it precisely carried out what it was striving for; within a film's length restriction. And while it did conclude on a tepid note - the exact same factor considerably benefitted the realistic aspect the story leaned towards. I actually appreciated the fact that they didn't go for an all out tear-jerker here, but an rather (relatively) simple narrative and character interactions - which are easier to relate to. On a sidenote - I must to admit that I felt like I was watching Koe no Katachi's adaption for a moment or two. And as for me personally - considering the fact that I was initially drawn to this movie solely for Masayoshi's character designs--I can definitely say that I got more than I bargained for. 8/10 from me. |

Loved this movie. Handful of flaws but still enjoyed it. I was fine with how everything happened and ended but I don't feel closure for some reason. A great movie that I loved but at the same there's like this void in me that wasn't filled. Satisfied? Yes, and that's all that matters. |
