Kokko said: Pullman said: jesus the weather here has been so fucking random these past few weeks. two weeks ago it was sunny amazing spring weather, pretty warm but nothing unusual, like 20°C. Last week we literally had a 2,5 day blizzard ravaging the city/country. An actual blizzard. We didn't have that much snow at any point during the 'real' winter months. A few days after that it we got the hottest days of the year which lasted until yesterday when I was still able to chill outside in a Tshirt at summer temperatures and even sweat a bit while doing nothing. Today the temperatures dropped 20 degrees to like 4°C again. I fucking hate this -.- We're going to have snow in May here. Thx climate change. Tell me about it, just the other day in the morning before work just a random snow storm appeared. |

Yeah I went for the german version since they started publishing when there wasn't even an english version yet. Opus is also in german, as are all my Taniguchi Manga. It's gonna be a bit weird since all my other asano manga are in english but generally the german translations are high quality so I'm not worried too much. |

I've considered Red_Keys before but never added him. I think I'm pretty good at handling or ignoring annoying/obnoxious behavior on my own, which is probably why my ignore list is small. |

But what mainly bothered me was that while the final episodes clearly showed the the show was trying to be about the crew and their bonding/growth and the pirate lifestyle more than anything, the show still shoehorned in a main plot that ended up basically irrelevant and just ate up a lot of time with meaningless fights against faceless earth force drones that could have been spent on introducing new, cool characters or focusing more on the existing ones and the worldbuilding. The show would really have been better if it went for a more slice of life/adventure kind of approach without the politics and the weird main plot. |

| Captain earth was basically missing everything that made star driver charming, its kind of absurd how hard they missed the mark. It was like they were caught in between making a more mature mecha and a goofy kids show not meant to be taken that seriously like star driver but wound up making a tonal mess. alot of the same staff apparently went on to make concrete revelutio which got back to form but I apparently am in the minority of thinking that show was good, much to my depression. Bones really has never been the same since the founder died, it really saddens me but even with them getting way more back on track recently there does feel like there's less unconventionality than there used to be. I highly doubt we'd ever see another fma 2003, rahXephon, or wolf's rain from them. Even something like concrete that I like I wont deny could of been much better if some things were done differently. |

The only part in the entire show that confused me was episode 8 of season 2, solely cause the start was so conflicting with the previous episode's events showing raiba fighting jirou alongside 2 characters we hadnt seen in a while. The show was rather straightforward otherwise after the first ep. Especially season 2 which was a linear series of events. |

| Whew, that was a relief. Futari wa really needed that fourth episode. Futari wa's setup initially seems kind of precarious to be honest. The plot looks like it may end up being even more loose than Fresh, the cast is so small that a lot more effort will have to be put into characterization and character development, there's not a strong sense of mystery/lore/pathos like in Sailor Moon yet, and although the combat aspect is definitely entertaining, I'm not sure if what I've seen of it so far would be enough for me to watch for that alone. With so little to work with, what holds the story up will then likely have to be strong characterization/development of the protagonists along with a really convincing sense of tension with the antagonists. Episode four provided the latter. The Dark King is really impatient with his generals, so Pissard is already having to stake his life and fight the Precure directly (or in this case, in tandem with his monsters). That sense of urgency will be important in keeping the show fresh, at least as it is now. Looks like the next episode will start developing some of the character bonding this needs as well. |

Well, the heroic mecha and weekly villain/problem/battle is the base structure of the show. It does play around with it a lot (a lot of mecha do), and I think Star Drivers wider appeal (at the time) was due to its enjoyability in its hammy school-(melo)drama side, which predominates for a fair bit of the show. The fights themselves were notoriously seen as repetitive (the reu-used footage is real), and perhaps some people who disliked that aspect might downplay it with "mah bones animation!" But I think it's a very fun show if you like the quirky teen spirit and outlandish weekly supervillainry. tl;dr I think I'd be surprised if you gave it over 7, but you did like Samurai Flamenco.. hmm |

mfw Touhou 6, 9, and 10 had such lul incidents I don't even 9: Spirits are overflowing around Gensokyo. Turns out Death was just lazy to do her job right. 10: A shrine shows up in the top of a mountain and tries to convert the locales into their religion. But Touhou had some fairly srs stories before 15. This comment in particular someguy said: Touhou 7: Selfish ghost steals spring and almost causes a natural catasrophe, only to satisfy her own curiosity to find out who's buried under her giant flesh eating cherry tree. It turns out to be her own corpse. #shitwasrealinPCBalready Now what would a Tanned Cirno contribute to the Touhou lore I am very curious pls be Yuuka related, or for the best PC-98 related |

| @DEGOZAURUS I treat transformation sequences kind of like how I do OPs and EDs. Some are good, some are bad, and whether I like it or not determines whether I skip it most of the time. ...Except I hardly ever skip anything of that sort, including OPs and EDs, so it has to be preeeetty boring in my case. I could see some people not getting into it, although it's pretty hard to not love this imo. It's legit cooler (hotter?) than most of the stuff I've seen with Ace in One Piece. Edit: Sapewloth said: ...how can you not like henshin? They're the best part of everything they're featured in! Good taste. They do tend to be great. :3 |

| Tmw Cinderella becomes yuri shipping central. This show is way too much fun. |

| @TripleSRank I liked these ones, even tho after watching it now they go against some of my believes :D Not really a big spoiler: |
Oshii is probably the only director that loves dogs. He thinks he's a dog himself. That's right, its slime! It will dissolve your clothing slowly before my eyes! |

Now I only have 6 more shows by Studio Bones left and 2 of those I'll probably never watch (Captain Earth and Star Driver) :/. Holy shit Pullman, how can you not like henshin? They're the best part of everything they're featured in! Haven't seen Captain Earth, but Star Driver works as a bastard child of Ikuhara and Enokido. Enokido has worked together with Ikuhara on Utena most notably, and he has a big boner for that type of symbolic presentation. Then again, you should watch Utena first, especially since you've seen the first two shows of the ideological trilogy which also consists of RoV and Onii-sama e. |

| All this talk about transformations reminded me that I need to resume my Sailor Moon rewatch soon. Only good thing I remember about Captain Earth aside from the animation and Hana's bootiful skin is that one OST used for the docking sequence (starts at 2:12): |

I didn't realize you had already seen it since you've had the first season listed as watching for ages. 'Figured you caved after the first several episodes since they're kinda tedious. Did you ever see Sailor Stars? I watched it subbed, but if you watched it years ago I heard that the old dub never adapted that. This club needs more Sailor Moon love. |

Thanks for reminding me to watch Flip Flappers, btw. actually, only the last 20s are indicative of how the show looks like, the transformation sequences are around once per episode and usually shorter and often different. The show makes many offensive jokes so id avoid if youre sensitive or it isnt your kind of humor but overall its pretty unique and self aware FLFL was cool, the first like 6(?) episodes are 8-9/10 material |

TripleSRank said: Yeah, since I watched the show as a kid I never got around to watching this season. Just like CCS, my memory of it was getting fuzzy so I decided to start a rewatch but with new seasonals coming out, mangos and just other things to do in general, I didn't go past the first dozen of eps x'). Now that I'm in a mood for more mahou shoujo I might actually watch it after I'm done Smile and possibly Futari Wa (if you aren't too far by the time I finish Smile).DEGOZAURUS said: @TripleSRank I liked these ones, even tho after watching it now they go against some of my believes :D Not really a big spoiler: [y t]uJLedAwzj-c[/y t] [y t]Y2NN7EAzI_I[/y t] Panty & Stocking looks roughly as out there as what little I know about it led me to think. | Transformation sequences are amazing. But only if 2 conditions are met: 1. They look good visually 2. They're not shown in every fucking episode Only exception is Megaman Axess, because I like it unconditionally. |
