Damn, this was a great arc. The great thing is, Shion was my favorite character before watching this arc. And now she is my most hated. That was a great trick this show played on me, I absolutely loved how it played out and tied into the 2nd arc.

to this day the satoko scene still makes me physically sick

this is my second time watching the series but shit still traumatizes me as much as the first time, and that says a lot because I've seen all kinds of fucked up shit without batting an eye lol

still my fav arc tho

I agree. Satoko scene is hard to watch, especially when she stopped crying and was being strong, I really felt for her. Also, what really got me was when her face was drawn to express extreme pain to show that she was really trying to hold back her tears. That entire scene was done so well, it makes me sick..

I dunno who killed Kei at the end. And that shirt tearing doesn't seem to be a coincidence. I believe that the spirit actually exists, no matter what. I hope Shion finds peace. And Mion is such a liar. I can't believe her. She should wash her tongue with bleach.

New character next episode.

I think that the ED is sung in place of Shion. The lyrics all describe her.

Without change,we end up becoming the very person we hate.

I was dead until the moment I met you. I was a powerless corpse pretending to be alive. Living without power, without the ability to change my course, was bound to lead me to a slow death.

And this is the arc that solidified Shion as the best crazy girl for me. Man, just the body count itself shows how crazy she really was. I still couldn't take the Satoko scene even though I was watching the censored version I still winched a little.

Shion killed everybody for a guy that literally didn't know that she existed. Every time Satoshi spoke to Shion, he thought he was speaking to Mion. I think Shion was always psychotic. That "school" she broke out of at the beginning of the arc was actually a psychiatric facility.

Satoshi knew Shion's existence. Remember when Oishi found Shion and Satoshi together since Oishi is looking for Satoshi for interrogation then Shion admitted that she's not Mion. It is just he didn't reach to the point to know Shion better.

Sad ending, everyone except Rena ended up dead. The question of who stabbed Keichi in the hospital still remains. Shion is probably the most crazy character I've ever seen. Satoko's death was brutal. This show is like torture porn with a good plot. I think I'm actually enjoying all the violence at this point.

I'm not sure if Mion was telling the truth about Satoshi not being killed by her family or if she was just saying it to get out alive. It would be interesting if there's another killer who we don't know about and also really fucked up that Shion took so much revenge on the wrong people.

OKAY, just...WOW. Shion was completely overtaken by the demon inside her. Honestly it's terrifying how realistic the "insanity" is portrayed by this anime, it gives me an awful deja vu feeling. Everything connects now, everything makes sense. I assume it was the real Mion who was waiting for Kei in the hospital then (many episodes ago).

Damnnnn so it was all Shion !
This arc shows just how crazy someone can get over love.

Seeing that torture seen with Satoko was really painful to watch, especially with her resolve to not cry.

Still confused about the timeline resets but I like how Watanagashi-hen is all tied up now...
What an amazing arc !

I feel seriously bad for Satoko. And I was able to understand some parts of the previous episodes but does Mion really telling the truth? Does the Sonozaki family doesn't have anything to do with the dissappearance of Satoshi?

Holy fudge, what an arc this has been!

Shion + the Demon all along, that certainly adds up a lot of things. Finally covered the death of Rika-chan too. And that whole scene surrounding Satako-chan was seriously creepy, she really did well to hold back her tears but that just made it even more horrifying for the viewers...

But a few questions remain still and I’m guessing we’ll be getting across to those in time. Who really was behind Satoshi’s death? Who killed Keichii in the end there of Arc 2 then? Is it really the clinic lady? Maybe Rena-chan?

Are we going to be seeing the puzzles piece out for the other arcs too? Man, if so, it’s going to be some ride. Just this bit alone was fascinating to see unravel.

I actually was fully on Shion's side until she killed Satoko, who's the only innocent main character in this show.

So this basically explains the whole Mion arc that we saw, except for the end where Mion/Shion stabs Keiichi. I'm still not sure if this has a supernatural element or not, I hope it doesn't.

Satoko's torture was just unimaginably painful. I don't know how she was able to resist herself from crying in that situation.

Overall, this arc was really amazing. I only found a single flaw which is regarding the motorbike incident. Besides that, everything is neatly put together.

There's still a question left, though. Who stabbed Keiichi at the end of the second arc if Shion had died beforehand? Was it just his hallucination? I guess we'll find out later.

so to explain Shion stabbed keichi

before falling to her death.

if you mean who nailed his fingers while he was in bed.

it's mion as remember they changed outfits which is why mion was in shions ritual outfit.

she fell into the well and hit her head. which is why it was bleeding.

im telling you this because the anime doesn't really explain that part that well.

I was asking who nailed Keiichi's fingers while he was in bed. If it was Mion, it's kinda hard to believe that she would be able to do that in that state. And also, why would she do that? Just because she has gone insane? Nevermind, it's believable actually.

i can't tell you why she did that because it's tied to the answer arcs in season 2
though the final arc in season 1 starts to touch on it as well.

Keep watching till the sequel Kai. The series is basically about playing with unreliable narrators so you have to piece together from each arcs a little bit of clues here and there about what are the real events and what aren't.

Keiichi did not get tortured but did not get hi important wishes either. This arc was mad af!

Oh, man, what an actual mess. Mion said something that became another confusion, and the end scene too. I mean, i should had known it was Shion all over the place. But, she death too at the end. So whats happening to Keiichi at the last shit in the second arc? I might suggest two separated lines about the cliffhanger at the death of Shion and its implifacition to Keiichi ending.

First: that Keiichi actually really death after Shion stabbed him at that critic point while they were talking outside the hospital. The end scene where he talked with Oishi, and then Mion/Shion appeared at the last jumpscare was just an excuse to give the audience a hint about these episode event. There was actually no scene of it, and its ended up like there.
Second: Maybe Keiichi just hallucinating the appearance of Mion/Shion at the end scene of the second arc. Its like how Shion hallucinating the hand at her behind, then she went mad to stabbed Keiichi again as a proved to her beloved shitty Satoshi hallucination. But, actually it had no effect at all, and the end scene was just a tease to led the audience into a confusion after watching it and fell into a disbelief. There was actually no scene of it, and everything just ended up well on Keiichi. Because, yeah, he was saved there. Its explain that there were no zombie at all. Its really Shion's scheme, and her stun gun really a massive plot device for her.

But, its really couldn't explain the double of Keiichi at the third arc. I really hope more clearance at the next new arc. Really. And no comment for Satoko scene. It just a mind-blowing scene, i refuse to remembering it ...

Edit: after seeing the comment far away above me i can't believed that. If thats happening, damn, Sonozaki family was really a strong people, then! Or maybe Mion really became a zombie in the end? Or, or, its just another form of Oyashiro curse? Really an intriguing shit. Guess, i just keep watching to see wtf was real goin on, then xD.

Well, ngl, shit real goes too fast, and everything just a complete fucked up mess to me. The twist really great when everything just caught off my guard already. Ah, whatever. Lets see the last arc first, then!

What a ride this arc has been, that was really good. Seeing Shion's descent into madness. They pretty much answered almost all of Watanagashi-hen but, at the same time putting in more questions. So, if the Sonozaki's has nothing to do with the deaths then who is. Or is it really some supernatural force that's in play here. Man, I am excited to find out.

They didn't show if Shion really killed Keiichi, so I am assuming she really just died when she fell. And that Keiichi was just hallucinating when Shion stabbed him, though that must be a symbolism that he died. Damn, Higurashi is really climbing up my favorites it's so good it's pretty much the original re: zero but like more brutal.

Watching this so many years after it initially aired, i find it hard to rate as high as others. Arcs 1 and 3 seem basically filler. Kei killing rena and mion then himself in arc 1? Then the whole village getting poisoned and dying with just kei as a survivor in arc 3? Those episodes seem super irrelevant after finishing this arc. Maybe the final arc will tie everything up but so far the series is a 7/10 imo

So that more or less explained Arc 2.

Only thing I'm left wondering if about that very last scene from episode 8. Shion should be dead since she fell from the balcony, Mion wasn't rescued from the well so she should be died then too, so that would mean it was only a hallucination from Keiichi?

What an awesome episode. Everything is really starting to all fit together; I still have a few question left so I hope they get answered in the next few episodes. Shion is absolutely crazy, but I did laugh a little at some of the crazy faces that she made during this episode. I feel really bad for Satoko and Mion, both innocent victims to Shion's madness.

As someone who read the sound novel before, I feel this episode was a little rushed. It somewhat didn't capture Shion's moments of remorse well, also other characters' last moments before dying, especially Satoko's. In the novel, I could feel more how Satoko's will to get stronger, to show to her nii-nii how strong she had become. While enduring Shion's torture, Satoko was able to meet Satoshi in her heart and depart the world blissfully. In fact, I cried buckets at Satoko's last moments.

What a crazy ride this arc was. I loved seeing Shion's descent to insanity. Satoko's death was horrifying, especially knowing she was trying to be strong and stop clinging on her brother. Holy shit I felt so bad for her. Shion realizing she failed to fulfill Satoshi's only wish to take care of Satoko was really impactful as well. This arc definitely explained Mion's arc so having some answers is great. Looking forward to seeing things from other arcs be explained as well.

So Shion's suicide jump from the building was accidental? She fucked up big time before that, while torturing Satoko whom Satoshi asked her to protect before disappearance. And I don't understand why Mion retracted her testimony in being a witness of Satoshi's murder (it's either her psychic being irrevocably damaged or she lied to sister because she wanted to cheer her up before her own death fall). The only remaining question is who killed Keiichi in hospital and maybe at this point the poison gas arc stratifyes on twins arc...
