Not that bad of an episode, but still, the last episode was better.

I found this episode to be pretty interesting - it showed a new side to Mugen.

why didn't Jin want to fight this guy too? he has the same motivation as Mugen if the first episode is anything to go by.

Because Jin wielding chi would be way more boring than Mugen's lazy but characteristically devious use of it ;)

This episode was awesome! Wonder if we'll see Mugen use the chi in any future episodes, I think he hurt the guy with it since his hands were bleeding and all.

I liked this episode more than the last one. XD I dunno, I just thought it was awesome. I also really liked seeing a Mugen that tries to do something with all his strength -- determined Mugen.

A more serious episode, with perfect pacing and set-up. Loved the feeling and the atmosphere, I think Samurai Champloo is finally growing on me.

I wish there were some more clues of the sunflower samurai. We still know nothing about him nor why Fuu is looking for him.

I expected the fight between those two to last short, but... not that short. Seriously, just a few swipes and a final thrust? Nah.

Nice one :) It was touching when Jin reminded Mugen that he is the one who is going to kill him... - Lol, that sentence sounds so wrong :D
So, Mugen can use chi now?
Altrough I like Jin more, I am glad I got to see new side of Mugen.

That was a good episode. Still, Mugen would have lost that match if that hidden knife wasn't with him.

Woah! I thought that Shouryuu (whateverhisnameis) was an opponent that would need both Mugen and Jin together to take down. I figured that the scene a coupla eps ago when they cut the apples on Fuu's head was an indicator that those two have been sparing together and learning each others moves a bit so they can fight together more effectively.

Well, anyways awesome fight, and I loved the monk when he caught the wood block

'Ooh, that's a lively piece of wood'

Man, I love it in Kung Fu/Samurai/Ninja stuff when a random old guy just displays incredible speed and you're all like 'Oh ho, somebodies an ancient master ey?'

Ah, my favourite seiyuu, Shō Hayami :D I think he was really fitting as Shouryuu's voice.

The episode was cool, finally someone that Mugen wasn't sure of being able to defeat :D

It was awesome seeing Mugen training like that, he went Zoro mode there for a second lol.

Great build up, fight, and conclusion.

Jin and Fuu caring about Mugen's well being was the real highlight for me. Though now that Mugen has a range attack, Jin needs a power up too.

Great fight.
It featured a character development for Mugen.

All of this.
AND I would love for Fuu to put her own sword into action one day... but it's probably not going to happen. :/

one of my favorite episodes. I don't know why some anime viewers need an overall plot to enjoy an anime. In my opinion this anime is about the characters and their crazy situations. Its life or death for mugen and jin every episode and thats what makes it great. Plus the great animation and soundtrack is a bonus.

Mugen trained for a fight, that was interesting.

Also, I knew after Mugen saw the waterfall meditation method, even I said at the EXACT moment Mugen said "Screw that."

That's been a quite serious one. Not used to samurai champloo being not about comedy but about martial arts and fight that's been better animated and executed than 50% of every other martial art anime out there. Enjoyed this one.

i liked the scene where it wasn’t explicitly shown that he had used some sort of chi. it is up to the viewer to decide and figure it out. however, the sudden knowledge of him acquiring such skill doesn’t sit well with me. you’d think that mugen, who heard of this chi on the whim from the old man, suddenly pulled the technique off at the level of ukon. ah, it is but a fictional show :)
