| Shuuji Itou is more in the spotlight this time and engaged in battle. Emotions were high and there's some pieces of background storytelling. Itou's personal demons seems to take a toll on her mentally but imo, this battle is one of the best in the series so far. Great soundtrack too. |

| It was funny learning that Amate wants to be a jellyfish because her mother always told her she could be anything she wanted—that’s one way to interpret it, lol. Amate has also grown curious and started to show interest in Shuuji, especially since he wants to go to Earth. It’s interesting to find out that Shuuji can hear—or maybe even talk to—the Gundam. I’m really curious why the Gundam is searching for a rose, and what kind it could be. Poor Shuuji—what did he do to deserve a bloodthirsty witch on his tail? Can’t the guy just pilot his red Gundam in peace? I’m not sure how to feel about Shiiko’s death. She had a kind face, but that old scar and deep hatred for newtypes painted a different story. One thing’s for sure—I feel bad for her husband and son, who lost a wife and mother because she was too far gone in her obsession. |

| Finally can join in on the weekly watching and discussing now that we’re on post-movie content and wow this episode was worth the wait. Went through a range of emotions in this culminating in having my jaw on the floor there at the end. I feel so bad for the “witch” she had a kid and family waiting on her.. she deserved better. Production values in general are still amazing, wow was wondering if they’d just be that good for the movie or if it would translate to the tv anime.. certainly looks like it. The scene of Machu with the dog in the alley had no business being that well animated lol. Loving the casual machu loungewear shots too she’s so pretty. The mystery continues to build around Shuji. There’s a ton of Eva references throughout this episode from character positions to tropes and I can’t help but see the similarities between he and Kaworu. In line with that, Char’s soul is likely merged with the Red Gundam. But that still doesn’t explain what Shuji is and what Char saw the day he disappeared. I feel like he may have gained access to 4D space and thus was able to perceive time like in interstellar.🤔 The space battle today was so good man. I like how they have the mobile suits move in such inhuman ways reminding you these are giant killing machines not just big humans. The witch’s stigma attack was so cool and against anyone else she’d have had a dub. Unfortunately ran up against a demon, RIP. At least she’ll be with her Mav now 😔 Next ep please! |

| @DeidaraSanji Plenty of female pilots survived though. In ZZ alone you've got Roux and Elle, then you have stuff like Cecily in F91, OVAs like War in the Pocket's Christina and 08th MS' Aina. For 79, Sayla counts as well. |
The flower petal-y effects for the Newtype sparkles are just so ...stunning. Machu's probably gonna be wishing she actually did go down the path of a jellyfish down the line (if she isn't already) |
| I'm not a hater, but I feel that this show is losing me. I was quite interested in episode 1 despite the odd choice for chara-design. But episode 3 & 4 have been pretty underwhelming for me in it's presentation and character development. Probably my biggest gripe is Shuuji, I've never been a fan for these "soulless" characters that all they have is their cool edgy aura with abstract dialogues. There's also the fact that episode 2 was a big recap of what happened in the OG Gundam (lucky for me at least I watched the first 3 episodes long time ago to see the time tangent). It was a nice homage for OG fans, but for me it felt like an awkward pause in the story and made me lose momentum and a bit of interest. Now we have Tomino's signature move of introducing characters and just killing them for the sake of it. I'll watch a few more episodes and decide if I should keep watching or just drop it and finally resume IBO. |

She had a family, fuck them these damn newtypes just want revenge, their souls are tied down by Earth's gravity thirsty for revenge. This episode was fucking nuts, and was a also a visual spectacle. I wonder who her son was, RIP NOT MIRAI. Kill them all Shuji, that's what the Gundam wants. Also Machu's going to die by the end probably, and Amuro's soul is in Haro with the gangsta beanie.  |

| Obsessions and hatred fuel recklessness and dangerous battles... A lot of emotions in this episode, with Shiiko and the Red Gundam that killed her first Mav. It goes to show the cruelty of the setting of this show. Shuji's character is rather interesting to me so far, in that we know almost nothing about him, but there's some symbolism there with what he says the Gundam says to him, with the flowers as well as the colourful petals whenever the Red Gundam's powers activate. What it means is still up in the air, but what I do know is was that battle between Shiiko and Shuji was relentless, with so much hatred fuelling the battle. The soundtrack continues to be very impressive as well, and probably my favourite aspect of this series so far. Where will we go from here? |
| Shūji and Machu are racking up victory after victory for the Pommerians. Her gambling classmates got small change compared to what she's earning. Shūj/The Red Gundam wants to go to Earth? I had suspected he was from there last episode. The people of Side 6 have many grievances with Zeon. Gihren and Kycilia are still alive so what's brewing now is a potential Zeon civil war with rumors a surviving Char could be a third player. lol when Nyaan suggests Shuji may have stolen the Red Gundam and Machu got all giddy. She likes bad boys. Ex Feddie who moved to Palda, Side 6 and got married.... is this Shiiko Sugai an alias for Mirai Yashima who married Cameron Bloom in this timeline? I wondered if her Mav who got killed by Char was Sleggar Law but based on the rapid change in character design, she's more likely to be a new character. huh, that face...Mosk Han? Newtype is propaganda. It was Mosk Han! I fucking called it! In a timeline where the Gundam was stolen, the Federation used inferior Guncannon tech and the 01 Gundam's remains to make their mass production GM. Whereas Zeon incorporated Gundam tech into their mass produced Gelgoog line. It's this fight that shows how far the skill difference between Shūji and Machu is, this was essentially a 1 on 1 fight. She wants to catch up to him. Shiiko is so confident in her stigma technique and in denial about the existence of Newtypes to cope with the death of mav who was killed by one (Char). That recklessness is her own demise. Machu knows what she needs to do to catch up to Shūji. |

| So I guess Lalah was involved in the war too and got killed, but this time not by Amouro... By Sayla maybe? This show consistently uses "cinematic shots" for non-essential scenes, this is how you know that some animation veterans are involved. PS Imagine becoming NewType, but not accepting it and pretending not being one even before yourself. That Witch person was totally insane. | This was the most this series has felt like gundam, really going all in on the mysticism of newtypes that frankly only 079 really leaned into which is funny cause they are a concept Tomino pulled out his ass in the final 3rd of the show. Past that the idea of disgruntled federation veterans unable to let go of the war and destroy the new life they build is what really made this feel like gundam, we saw this all the time in the UC sequels but its cool to see it inverted with a feddie. I am curious how Machu and Shuuji's relationship will be affected by this considering there really isnt much of a relationship there at all so far but how Machu is gonna see him is what im super curious about. |

| Very interesting episode. Wonder if the Rose Shûji is talking about is supposed to be Sayla, and if the singing we hear is related to Lalah. Interesting to see were Nyaa character is going, she seems to want money to follow Machu and Shûji in their goal of getting to earth ( at least that how I understood it, maybe she has other objectives ) but the proposition she receive to get more money is to give info on the Red Gundam and therefore betraying Shûji and Machu. The story of the witch was interesting, she kinda was a character that exists only with the purpose of dying but the execution is interesting and I still need to see how this will impact Machu. Also a lot of bits of world-building here and there, the current leader of Zeon, the milice secretly making military weapons, there seems to be a bigger story taking place behind what we can see and I hardly see the anime touching on those topics with only 12 episodes. |

There's... literally an episode in the original series where Amuro's mother admonishes him for killing Zeon soldiers because the could've had families, so "You shouldn't kill people" is kinda of one of the points of Gundam, really. |
| I'm sorry, is that THE Tetsurou Araki on SB, KA (WHAT THE FUCK THIS DUDE NEVER KAs)... AND ED??? What the ACTUAL FUCK. The last time this dude ED something was for AOT S3.... SIX FUCKING YEARS AGO. And holy shit, WHAT A RETURN. His loud, in-your-face directing really lands thanks to Shuichi Iseki giving the animation a more human, softer vibe. Machu’s first pose already means something... sure, but the way she hops and looks back is super cute and kinda silly, it gives her a fun and relatable feel. Anyway, quick story talk, the witch is a cool addition to the whole "moving on but can’t" thing. She almost made it out, almost had a good, loving family life… but nope. She got hooked on those Newtype-style highs and now she's right back in the danger zone. |

She barely managed to defeat Bernie, who was using a Zaku II, literally a fodder suit, and let him damage Gundam ALEX beyond repair. Gundam ALEX's specs overpower Zaku II so hard that you can compare it to a fight between a Leopard tank VS a medieval knight with a bazooka. She should have one-shot Bernie, and I am pretty sure any other Federation ACE could. I am pretty sure she didn't get to see an actual battlefield either. If she performed so badly in the strongest mobile suit ever made up to that point, imagine her piloting a GM on the battlefield. Fa, on the other hand, actively fought in almost every major battle of the Gryps War (In a glorified Core Fighter in most of the battles btw.) despite being just a regular Chinese girl who had no military experience beforehand, survived one of the bloodiest battlefieds ever seen in U.C. (Battle of Gryps) where only a handful of named characters survived AND she got Kamille at the end on top of everything xd |

They sent her to Earth due to her fighting capabilities, so whether or not you deem her as a good pilot doesn't mean feddies didn't send her into battle. In fact, they definitely did because of how much promise she showed up till that point. Regardless, all we know is that she survived the OYW and probably had a hell of a time hearing about Bernie's fate from Alf once she returned. Also you can't just bully Chris like that! The main thing I commend Fa for is still sticking Kamille and wiping his ass for him after her got blitzed from Scirocco. AND STILL staying with him even after that.  |

My one gripe with this series thus far, is that it hasn't really done much to develop Machu's attachment to Shuji. We just met him last episode where-in he proceeded to sniff her hair and since then she's been gaga over him. They've got their whole mav thing going on but that's basically it. I can't quite believe that their bond is strong enough that Machu would be willing to kill for him. Nyaan has a similar issue, the characters just haven't spent much time on-screen together. I guess a consequence of the series only being 12 episodes long.

And that he's a mysterious gundam nerd with an edge to him, so I guess she just likes that sorta guy and wants some newtype spice in her life. |
