Hello in this topic, list a few anime that just wasn't up to par to what you were expecting and follow up with your own reasoning why it "Wasted your time" And the number 1 offenders are for me... ] Neon Genesis Evangelion: Simply put, when I watched this show I tried liking it I really, really tried. It's just boring and plain uninteresting where we get emo characters that can't for the life of them move on. Plot holes everywhere, story going nowhere. Plain disaster in my eyes. A tornado that blew off it's course. Naruto: Over-rated, hyped etc. Too many damn flash backs. Sakura is a noob that can't do anything by herself, sasuke obsessed for no damn reason. Naruto saying "Believe it" all the time, also Sasuke obsessed (LOL) and Sasuke trying way to hard to be depressed. It has it's good points but more negative than positives for me. Angel Beats: When people are dying left and right without even building up character/backstory. Had no feelings/emotions attached to any one character. Ending was terrible. Bokura ga Ita: It started off kinda good in the first half but oh man, it just went completely downhill in the 2nd half. The characters are horrendous. The trust in this one is... well there is none. Ending was not satisfactory. Made me want to throw a book across the screen on how awful their decisions were. |

School Rumble! The main guy I can't even remember gets so close to dating the personality-less other girl so many times, and then has it spoiled by stupid things that could be easily solved if the main character actually did anything besides stand there like =O, and finally after like 3 seasons... it ends ambiguously or something and the well-endowed little sister doesn't get anything either and she was my favorite character just because she was the only one actually doing anything... |

Kuromukuro omg all the anime was like a chore always expecting it to git gud and every time something a little interesting was about to happen it just ruined it into more boring stuff. |

Fukumenkei Noise - I dropped it after the second episode in when turned out to be constant flashbacks to them singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Guilty Crown - The main girl is super cute an all but the directing was a mess, in fact, everything was a mess, that random death, that i, will never forget was one of the most forced death i've seen in fiction, period. It all served to make the edgelord MC more edgelord than it was. It served absolutely nothing. Masamune-kun's Revenge - was a massive steaming pile of mediocre level shit and I hated every episode. I have no idea why I even watched all of it, etc |

Garbage ending for sure. |

Ergo Proxy - It was my second attempt at watching it, so I was determined to see it through, but I only made it three episodes further than last time. Everything is so dull, muddy, grey and just downright boring. This sort of story could be interesting, but it needed a much better director. The only thing I like about this show is Re-l's character design, because that blue eye shadow is cool as fuck. |

Nisekoi I hate this anime At exactly ep1 MC is already in love with a girl and she also actually feel the same but for some reasons neither of them can confess to each other or when one finally decide to they're either stopped or the other one can't hear them or they somewhat fall asleep, they literally used every single cliche possible. Add to that a necklace plot devise that doesn't make any fcking sense so we can add a harem to the mix. The only reason I made it through the first season was because I liked the girl voiced by kana hanazawa and I was hoping that that finale would give me a bit of closure so I could move on (spoiler) It didn't The fact that the author was able to make over 200 chapters of that steaming pile of trash and that some people consider it one of the best romcom out there is just maddening. |

Anything I've completed and rated either a 1 or a 2. To name a few: Angel Beats!, Violet Evergarden, K-On!, NGNL, Konosuba, FLCL, OPM, Tokyo Ghoul VA, Overlord, Seraph of the End, Erased, Danmachi, Hajimete no Gal, among others. I got virtually no genuine enjoyment from all these, so they were consequently time-wasters from that standpoint. |

Fire force. At least it only wasted like an hour since I only watched three episodes. Characters with no personality, lack of choreography in fight scenes, shitty directing, but hey at least I got a good song out of the opening. School days. It had potential but they kept making Kotonoha out up with all the crap instead of getting her to grow as a character and stop socializing with those asses she called friends. Everyone screwed her over, at least the ending kind of made up for it. Naruto Shippuden. After the pain arc was about to end, suddenly it is all ok because they will revive everyone. Not all villains with sad backstories deserve a redemption. I still hate the opening for that arc too. It was a damn lie. Nothing in there Happened at all. Katekyo Hitman reborn. Female characters are annoying, most of the male cast is. Opening three was a lie and the fight of that arc was a big letdown. |

Uta no Prince-sama - I watched the 1st season, finished it and hated it. However a 2nd season came out, I have no desire to give it even it's first episode a chance. Strike Witches 501 - a spinoff series, low quality, boring and 13 minutes long, it shouldn't even exist. 30-sai no Hoken Taiiku - boring, annoying and not very clever. Fate/kaleid liner Prisma - the worst magical girl anime, made with the worst theme, feeding off like a parasite from the Fate franchise. Absolute Duo x Hundred x Juuou Mujin no Fafnir x Kuusen Madoushi Battery x Fune wo Amu - both are boring and headed nowhere, as in you wait for something to happen and it doesn't. These types of anime you watch not for how good it is but just for collectability's sake and nothing more. Last Period - a cartoonish anime that I felt tortured as I watched it and I don't know why I did that. These for now, there are more |

I don't finish anything I don't want to finish. That being said I do feel like I wasted time on One Piece and Gintama. I stopped watching One Piece because I was really far behind and Gintama because I lost interest in it and I'll never get back the time I spent on either of those. |

Wataten: jUST PLAIN WRONG Hoshi wo Or Kodomo: it's just a movie, but it still felt like forever, never watched such a big mess, at some point i had to ignore everything that was happening and just enjoy the animation |

Island. I don't even know what possessed me to watch all its episodes. Truth to tell, up to that point I'd refused to watch seasonals because I didn't like the idea of waiting so long for each episode...but sticking with this anime was such a poor decision on my part. Sayonara zetsubou sensei. My fault, again. I really really wanted to like this anime, I love half the VAs on it, I love shaft and I love comedy shows in school settings. By episode 4 I hadn't laughed more than once but I was thinking "heh well, maybe it'll get better" but it never did. I dragged my feet through all the episodes for goodness knows what reason but I wish I hadn't wasted my time like that. Byousoku 5 cm. I'm happy I watched kimi no na wa before this, because if someone had asked me "hey the b5cm director has made another movie, want to watch it?" I would have answered "over my dead body". Appallingly nonsensical pretentious bollocks is what this movie was to me. It wasn't even a long one but I still regret spending that much time on it. Death note. Kept watching it mainly because "hey everyone likes it, there must be some reason why". The same adjectives I used for b5cm apply to this show too, with the needed addition of "edgy" among the rest. Tokyo ghoul square root of jack****. I don't even remember anything of this show, quite literally. I don't remember what happened, I don't remember the bad guys or the good guys, the setting, the animation, the music, bloody nothing. I watched it basically because my sister kept badgering me about it and even she found it mediocre. I found it horrid and a huge waste of time but thankfully from that moment onwards there hasn't been any more tokyo ghoul in this house (no, I won't read the sodding manga, thanks for the suggestion). |

mochibunny2005 said: School Rumble! Agreed. I enjoyed School Rumble, but I didn't care to watch anything past season 1. The cast is likable, the show has its own unique charm, and Harima's Matrix scene will forever be a highlight of mine, but that show did not need to go as long as it did to achieve so little of what it did. I didn't watch season 2 or read the manga because I felt it would more or less be the same formulaic misunderstandings that we got in the first season, and that got pretty stagnant after awhile. |

I feel like I've wasted my time watching these shows because of the fact that I've rewatched them too many times (about 3x or more) even though I already know the story and ending. Setsuei said: I don't finish anything I don't want to finish. Jokes aside, I believe If I finished something, it's not a waste of time, because I had the patience to finish it means that I enjoyed it even a little bit. Shows that I feel like a waste of time are dropped though. |

If there is one show I wish I could have never watched is naruto (and Shippūden) because it was honestly the most disappointing thing I’ve ever seen in the sense that it went from the best thing I have ever watched to absolute trash after a while. I honestly disregard everything that happened after the 5 Kage conference as cannon.... I reckon the writer wasn’t in his right mind writing it so it feels like I’ve gotten no closure. Definitely wasted my time and emotions on that show and wtf... sasuke ending up marrying sakura when he’s obviously gay for naruto was a bit off putting lel |

Hmm, interesting question. As you mentioned in your post it all depends what we each class as "wasting our time". Did we not get the conclusion we wanted, or did the love interest not get together at the end, or get together with the wrong person in your opinion, or was the show just not what you expected. These are just some of the reasons people may quote for why an anime show "wasted their time" (like us anime fans have so many better more productive things we could be getting on with, haha). For me I might be inclined to say Domestic Girlfriend and the reason I'd say this is that I felt the anime was just a glorified advert for the manga series (which is still ongoing) and unless you want to commit to buying all the volumes (and there's quite a few), you won't get any closure for the series. I wasn't even an open ending, it was a complete cliffhanger. I enjoyed the show and it drew me in and made me empathise with the characters, and then just left me high and dry. Now if we get another season, then all well and good, if not then that was a waste of my time I would say. |

Durarara: I started watching it because people were saying it was like Bungo SD but all I got was boring story and I didn't get attached to any of the characters. Kuroko No basket: As a big fan of basket ball, this anime has nothing to do with it, and for the second time I didn't like the characters. So I didn't finish both of the shows. |

Pokemon when I was new into anime, I watched from season 1 to xyz and asked myself why Ash still don't win and why most of his pokemon never evolve? Only sinnoh region was good but then he lost again where his opponent had full team of legendary pokemon, which was so bullshit. |

One Piece. It's so painfully slow. Final boss of arc fights can last about 50 episodes. Each damn episode has 10 minutes of previous episode's rewind. There can be 10-20 episodes in a row when literally nothing happens (for example that Elephant Arc and cheering up the climbing dragon for 5 damn episodes lol). I absolutely regret watching all these 900 episodes. I could save hundreds of hours if I started to read manga instead |

I rarely ever drop an anime, there is always some quality I can muster from it,even just as a guilty pleasure but Megane-bu had nothing. 12 episodes was a nice time to come up with a decent story about troubles of those who wear glasses alongside pleasant comedic moments and a message. But it ended up being this bland mix of awkward situations, unfinished plot points and characters who were walking talking pieces of paper,no quirks, qualities whatsoever. And a shame 'cause it had potential and the art was really pretty. Watched it till the end (in hope of a miracle) and I still regret it. |

I never watched DBZ, but I read the whole manga. When I actually start watching DBZ, I find it extremely slow and sometimes (no offence DB fans), boring. But the climaxes for every arc are very awesome and iconic. But everything else is just too slow honestly. I know exactly why (anime got to slow down for the manga) but I nearly gave up when I watched the beginning of the Buu saga. 291 eps can reduced to 200, and I felt I wasted my time watching super slow episodes. And again, no offence to the fans and Dragon Ball. |

Bungou Stray Dogs: I watched the first season hoping it would get better, but nope. Same boring shit. The only character I genuinely liked was Dazai. All the others were generic. But hey, at least I got to watch that 4 episode arc at the beggining of season 2. And I loved that. That's the true Bungou Stray Dogs imo. After that every episode was generic again and the show felt like a shitty shounen. I had to drop it because it wasn't enjoyable after that amazing arc. |

I'm more than a bit puzzled here: to everyone who mentioned completing (or continuing in one piece's case) an extremely long battle shounen (quite literally hundreds of episodes), if you disliked it THAT much, why on earth didn't you drop it at some...well...earlier point? I mean, the 3 episode rule may not apply to extremely slow shows and battle shounens can be quite slow in their own way, but 20 or even 30 episodes should be way more than enough to glean that if you haven't gained any enjoyment out of it in that time, you're probably not going to get it by watching 200+ more eps? |

Disclaimer: The opinion below is my sole opinion only, I am not telling you to like it or that my opinion is the only right, if you enjoyed that anime that's alright, I am glad you could enjoy something I couldn't. Hajimete no Gal: Even on ecchi standarts it's terrific. Bad characters, dreadful story about boy, who sees every beautiful girl as a whore and wants to bang some (make it hentai not ecchi with this goal, atleast it would have been a little entertaining). When he has chance to have fun he backs down and starts getting moral that he doesn't want to cheat on his girl he sees as a whore, top notch. The worst part is that I rewatched it in order to write a review about it. I wasted good 4-5 hrs. |
