What the title says. It can be your favorite or just something you think carried a lot of weight. This could be a fight scene, but consider what thematic weight the scene carries rather than how cool it looked or how well animated it is. Obviously spoilers ahead. Personally, I think its in Clannad episode 18. Ushio in the sunflower field contained multiple moments and memorable parts in one scene. I think the scene is the same as the Tomoya's father backstory, although I can't remember if there was a scene transition in the middle. Either way, there was definitely Ushio being sad about losing her toy and saying it was irreplaceable because her father bought it for her and then the places where Ushio is allowed to cry. Definitely one of the best scenes in anime, and if you disagree you shouldn't have opened up this spoiler. The reason I came up with this thread is a rewatch of 3-gatsu no lion. Scene is definitely in episode 4 of season 2 (episode 26 total) but it was too good to choose 1, so I have two scenes, one that immediately follows another. The first scene is Hina running away from the house. What makes this so good is when Rei catches her and she says he definitely doesn't regret doing what she did. The other scene is when the grandfather says he is proud of her for what she did and standing up for her friend. I love how he validates his granddaughter's courage and the warmth of the house comes back. I could make a list of these (hence the thread) but I'll end it on A place further than the universe. Even though I cried for all of them, it's a pretty easy win for episode 12. Both the culmination of Shirase's effort and the directing of the scene and the other girls supporting her makes this one of the best. I don't want to make this a blog, so I'll stop here. Feel free to list a bunch of the best single scenes in anime and please provide a description on what makes it amazing! Edit: I think the 3-gatsu scene was episode 26, episode 4 of season 2 not episode 3. |

I couldn't possibly narrow it down to a single best scene. I'd need categories, and even then I'd have a lot of contenders. ...actually, I'm going to come back to this after thinking up some categories and coming up with a shortlist, but off the top of my head here's what I might be considering: Fight Scene Sweet Feels Horror Funniest 'Oh Shit' Moment Animation Musical Number Big Twist Little Detail More details to come when I've had a think, but that might be some of the categories. |

Well, I said it could be anything, but if you are asking specifically about what I would consider a good scene, I place a lot of value in thematic importance. I think a good scene can convey a lot of information and say a lot about the author's message. You probably wouldn't care, but I could write essays on why certain scenes contribute to theme, like how a certain director or certain details exemplify themes. It's like In Yamada Naoko's A Silent Voice, Yamada utilizes the climactic moment, Ishida uncovering his ears, to exemplify how self acceptance is necessary before the forgiveness of others. I'm a literature guy so it matters to me. |

Episode 10 of 3-Gatsu no Lion, Rei Kiriyama screaming out in frustration and exhaustion. This scene always stuck with me as it was the culmination of a lot of early 3-Gatsu. Rei is stuck in this world where he needs to keep on fighting or else he has nowhere else to go, in his attempts to find a home, he feels he's ruined one family, now he feels he ruined another, and he's struggling to go to enough classes, and there's the expectation that he'll become a meijin that everyone's unintentionally putting on him, and he finally just lets it all out. Just the lead-up to this scene, the emotions shown, the music, I love it so much. I'm not going to say that that definitely is the best scene in all of anime, that's some steep competition, but it's the scene that most sticks out to me out of any show I watch and I'm pretty sure I've watched video clips of that scene more times than I care to admit. |

The scenes that come to mind are: Rock Lee taking off his weights. I guess because of how epic it was, I'm not sure but it always pumps me up. Emotional scenes that make me tear up are scenes like Goku reuniting with Grandpa Gohan, or Naruto meeting Minato. I have heaps of scenes but they're all just personal favourites. I have no idea what the actual best scene in anime is. But I guess it will always be different for each person. |

This is definitely not my all time favorite scene, but it has stuck with me a long time and was the first thing that came to mind. In original naruto when: Rock lee has to undergo surgery to have a chance at ever being a ninja again, but it could potentially kill him. Struggling with indecision Might Guy says to him “Lee, you have that surgery and follow your dream, and if you die, I will die right there with you” That was literally the first time I had cried in years, having spent the past several years trying to learn to mask my emotions. That’s also why naruto will forever be my favorite anime, for better or worse, it opened me back up to being emotional. |
Lolicons are scum. BABYMETAL is more metal than Metallica. Naruto is objectively the best anime ever. HxH 99' is decent. HxH 11' is bad. |

hmm there are several scenes that managed to greatly impress me 1 > in hunter x hunter, when knov trembled in fear and had a mental breakdown soon after he encountered a chimera ant royal guard during his mission 2 > in one piece, the moment when luffy and jimbei were sharing their blood(sorry idk the professional term for it), when their blood met together 3 > in basilisk, when the glowing butterflies died out as hotarubi(the one who controls them) dramatically died, under the misty rain |

No scene in anime is more legendary than this: Jokes aside, to me, this is possibly the best scene in anime is probably in Monster: The scene where Tenma meets the adult Johan for the first time, and Johan thanks Tenma for saving his life. You can feel Tenma's reality shattering before his eyes: how his philosophy to save all lives, ironically, killed more lives. It's haunting. Short_Circut said: My favourite scenes are mostly just amazing (imo) confession scenes which include but not limited to: Tamako Love Story I've Always Liked You Maid-sama Kokoro Connect Plastic Memories ef:Memories Tada Doesn't Fall in Love Tsuki ga Kirei Nodame Cantabile Love Elections and Chocolate I never cared for confessions in anime. Maybe it's because I can't take romance seriously when I've never experienced it, or maybe it's because it takes damn forever to get to the confession. Back when I was a fan of Re: Zero, I'd probably agree with you, but my opinion on that episode has changed: now I think it's just too hammy and in-your-face. God I live for legendary and emotional scenes in anime Hajime no Ippo The scene with Ippo and Vorg saying their goodbyes at the airport Sangatsu s2 When Rei went to find Hina alone on her field trip because he knew exactly what she was going through Clannad After Story Jeez like every scene from episode 9 to the end. Tomoya going to Nagisa on graduation, Nagisa's graduation, Tomoya's proposal, deciding Ushio's name, Episode 18 & 19, the list goes on Stardust Crusaders when Polnareff sees Avdol and Iggy ascending to heaven Steins;Gate reading Suzuha's note. First thing that came to my mind was the Clannad AS episode 18 thing, so I gotta say that's my favourite. Some other fantastic scenes that come to mind after a little thought: The Love's Sorrow performance (Kousei's mom) or the final performance. The entire 'burnt field' match completely blew me away. I swear I had to pick up my jaw at the end of it. Right after Okabe sends the text to delete the crap from SERN's database and they go back to the first worldline where Kurisu is dead. Just something about the ost combined with the triumphant speech from Okabe does something for me. |

@OP I definitely agree with you on that scene from Clannad: After Story. That was one of about three or four scenes from that show that really hit me in the feels. As for some of mine... Ano Hana When Jintan and his friends find Menma’s letters to them under the tree in the final episode. Jesus, this scene hit so hard. I’ve watched this scene about 30 times and it gets me crying every single time. Chrno Crusade Chrno and Rosette’s final moments together and when the nuns from the Order of Magdalene find them afterward. Azmaria’s reaction still haunts me to this day. The funny thing is, I thought this series was REALLY average until that ending...WOW, that ending was just phenomenal and sad. Little Busters: Refrain The Little Busters final game before the world disappears. I mean, shit, this whole damn episode felt like repeated kicks to the nuts with how often they hit you with the feels in this one. Kengo and Kyousuke’s farewells to Riki were just so hard-hitting because they were such cool, calm and collected characters throughout the whole series and even they couldn’t help but break down. Kyousuke’s walk through the empty school at the end sent chills down my spine. Ef-a tale of melodies Yuuko’s death scene. Jesus, what a ball buster. Here’s a girl who FINALLY escaped her guardian’s physical, emotional, and sexual abuse for good...only to get hit by a fucking car. I was choking up when she was singing that song underneath the tree before she passed away. Ef-a tale of memories Two scenes in this one, both revolving around Miyako and a phone of all things. The scene where Kei deletes Miyako’s voicemails off Hiro’s phone...but then there’s a scene that plays back the voicemails and you can see how emotionally traumatized Miyako is and how she starts breaking down after every voicemail. It’s just painful to listen to and it’s even more painful to know that Hiro didn’t get them because of that cun...I mean, angel Kei. Then, there’s the payphone scene where she’s leaving Hiro another voicemail and just when she’s going to admit her love for him, the minutes on her card run out...only for Hiro to show up at that very payphone. That scene gets to me as well. Angel Beats Hideki admits to Yui he would have married her if they met in life. There were quite a few emotional scenes in this anime, but this one got to me the most because I have a handicapped little sister and I wish she would meet a guy like Hideki. This guy is the ultimate good guy/best friend. I’ll also throw in the scene when Kaede disappears and leaves Yuzuru in the Afterlife/Purgatory. When she admitted that Yuzuru’s heart saved her life, I lost it, especially when we see the scene where Yuzuru circles his organ donor card before passing away. God, this is such a great finish to the anime. Violet Evergarden Violet finds out Gilbert is dead. Well, not really so much that, but rather the scenes after where she is going through the stages of grief. It’s so heart wrenching to see her go through it and the crazy thing is as the viewer, we know it’s going to happen eventually, but even when it does, it’s still painful to watch. It was still great to see her come out of it and re-find her purpose in life. Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso Arima realizing that Kaori passed away during his performance. This anime didn’t hit me as hard as others, but I will admit that this scene was a hard one to hold back on and I can only imagine what Arima is going through with that performance. |

I just finished rewatching (for the 100the time at least) the scene from Hunter X Hunter 2011 where Gon and Killua are following Nobunaga and Machi from the Phantom Troupe. When they are noticed they immediately in a split second completely out of instinct and pure fear and realization they jump to run away and get away as soon as possible. They both at the same time realize how much of a towering force above them the two Phantom Troop members have. What I truly truly truly truly love about the scene is how they show this without saying a word to explain it. And it's so clearly shown and is immediately understood by anyone who has seen it. In many other shows the characters would probably think it or say we have to run or for the really terrible anime that I've seen explain exactly what happened so the view would understand even tho it is obvious. I wanted to ask this forum post because this scene has been on my mind a lot as of late and I have watched this scene specifically alot, and when I say alot I mean alot of times. So I wanted to know what scenes like this not a full episode but moments that just seem so brilliant and inspired that you cannot stop watching it have so much love and appreciation for. Please tell me some and if you have not watched Hunter X Hunter please do. And even if you haven't or if you have seen it please watch this scene again. Although it is so minor and not a super gigantic bombastic moment I just love everything about how that small like 10 seconds was executed. Also I could probably go into how great the scene after was but my main focus is the fear that was shown and how they reacted to try to get away. |

The best scene based on straight facts has to be that scene from Black Lagoon where one of the twins takes their panties off in front of Rock and then Rock runs off crying like a little bitch. So many factors are involved in the true genius of the scene, Which twin was in the ship and which one was killed, the girl pretending to be a guy or the guy pretending to be a girl? Why did Rock run off like a pussy, was it the shock of seeing a peepee on a girl or the shock of seeing underage pussy? We will never know |

One of my absolute favourites is probably in Whisper of the Heart, where the main characters and the elderly supporting cast come together to spontaneously sing Country Roads. I couldn't find it anywhere on YouTube but it's the sweetest thing I've ever seen. Here's a few others I really like as well. 23 episodes of build-up to this scene. This fucking scene! PA Works is the only anime studio that can consistently get me to cry at their shows. This is technically supposed to be a reference to a Japanese TV drama from the 80's I think, but I thought it was fantastic even before I found that out. It's like a scene from a Hollywood musical but in anime form, letting the cast wander about, having fun while, at the same time, showing off and worldbuilding this fantastic futuristic city they built. In general, my favourite scenes in anything are just ones of characters being happy about stuff or going about their day, even better if it's about music in some way. |

One of the few most memorable one for me was that one scene in kami nomi where that girl turned around and said bye bye. Just the whole atmosphere and situation along with the lack of background instrumental made it pretty damn impactful |

The scene where Kira gives his gf a ring. It's honestly kinda charming while also being disturbing at the same time. I love it. Kuroko33 said: The scene where Nadeko snaps in the monogatari series. +1 for this. Also the scene where Kaiki confronts her. Honestly the whole arc is top tier. |

My favorite scene in anime was probably the exchange Jotaro and Dio had at the beginning of their fight. I had the meme kind of stuck in my memory for awhile before watching jojo, so when I heard "oh? You're approaching me?" I started flipping out. YES! OH MY GOD IT'S THE SCENE HOLLY FRICK! |
