| How can an anime keeps getting better each episode? Usually it'd turn stall after mid point but this anime just keep topping each other the following episode. The last time i have such experience is when I watch Shineskai Yori. |

| Fuck, (shadow) Ushio is dead-dead. Although, I have a hard time believing she's gone forever when there's the possibility of "copying her data" again or maybe there's a "savefile" Exciting reveal after exciting reveal. It's awesome how everything is coming together. |

| Pretty obvious trap, even I was like... uhh ya'lls letting your guards down a bit too much.. and shinpie hesitated which was such a beta move, he deserves all the pain he has coming. Hope ushio never comes back and even if she does hope she disappears she's to good for him. |

| OMG THIS EPISODE!!! That was absolutely epic, now we know that Shide is actually the priest and is basically the same from 300 years ago when he first met Haine since they end up having a real child together that will be a clone (since it's mixed human and shadow) and Haine can transfer his memories to his child which allows him to live forever, but of course it would be too easy if they managed to beat him directly and he didn't die even though he got cut in half by Ushio and then killed her 1st (damn!!!!!) and killed Shinpei after so in the next loop Ushio seems dead for good... I really hope it isn't the case really :'( |

| it's just annoying now. A bit of hesitation here, letting your guard down there, and it's all falling apart. And don't get me started on Shinpei wanting to be the one to confront the priest because of personal reasons. Excuse me? Your personal reasons outweigh the lives of everyone on the island now? Shut the fuck up and let the most competent person ( Ryuunosuke ) do the job. Why did everyone just go along with this? They don't deserve to win anymore. In fact, I kinda hope they lose. I can only tolerate this much incompetence. They could've erased Haine earlier, but Ushio hesitated for no reason. They could've noticed the priest just slowly walking up on them, now Ushio is taken out. They could've not let Shinpei be the one to confront the final boss in the first place, but no. Congratulations, you lose. And you deserve it. |

| I mean it does make sense for Shinpei to confront him for the "sake of taking revenge for his parents", but for someone who has already witnessed the number of times he has died and how much important Ushio's shadow is, this just seems baffling. The reveal with Karakiri was just fucked. I love my incest and all but damn, this is just going too far. |

| One of the common tropes I tend to notice about anime shows I like is how they often show a glass with a drink with ice in it, and there will be a shot of that ice shifting as it melts. I've always liked this kind of shot but there was something very different about how it was used here. When Shinpei is confronting Karikiri, the discussion arises about if a copy is the same as the original. Karikiri says he believes that is the case. As common courtesy, he pours two identical glasses of barley tea with ice and offers one to Shinpei. Later we see the glasses are still on the tray, and the shot pans out to include them both. The ice shifts only in the left glass. When it comes out that Karikiri is Shide, Ushio becomes impatient and attacks him. As Karikiri is sitting half decapitated, he is shown to be holding the left glass in which the ice shifted. There's nothing meaningful to the plot about this observation, but it does speak to me about how deeply ingrained symbolism is to the writing in this show. |
| Every episode of this show is so brutal, it's like an event. They're up against the odds on this island alright. Classic famining Japanese farmer/islanders caught up in a mischievous plague ritual. I still wonder why shadow goddess is going to finish off the island though, is she trying to go home into space? |
