4/5 It was bit short i wish that instead of at least half of the recaps' (why? only hardcore physcological movies need recaps) time would have been spent on showing more of the village, the cave raid and introducing the paladin as a fearsome foe. My other problem was the overuse of CGI. if they could draw everyone else properly why not draw GS as well so when changing between far away and close up shot it doesnt make my eyes bleed (when he is alone or constantly cgi idm it)
Everythng else was great. Goblin slaying check, 200iq moves check, almost unnoticable little deitals check. Bit worse than the series but still great

Eh, not too bad I suppose. I actually didn't mind the recap at the start, refresh the memory a bit. Really, it just felt like a normal episode that had been dragged out into a movie. 7/10.

I appreciate a modern fantasy anime that's not an isekai. Goblin Slayer is also very unpretentious. No big speeches, no deliberate and plodding character development arcs. Just a straight and simple story. Nothing special, but fine to kill an hour. This would have better scores if the some of the content that offends some viewers wasn't present. But unlike SAO, here it is part of the story. That is what goblins do to perpetuate themselves and to hurt/break humankind.

Why was this movie so short damn and why was there a 25 min recap on top of it. Seriously this was too short.

Girls in this anime sure loves to go after goblin and then get fucked up. They underestimate em too much and every fucking time it ends up the same. This time the theme was to save a noble girl from ger trauma of goblins and Goblin slayer managed to do it to some extent. I'm sure she's still traumatised but retrieving her sword lift up a lot of the it.

As usual GS is only after goblins and doesn't notice that there's three beautiful hornt girls after him. He should seriously give all three of em some time someday soon.

Also I was thinking that this new girl might join the team but seems like not gonna happen.

I don't know somehow plot was not interesting, animation was ok but it didn't take my attention they had no problems with anything in this movie they just beat everyone without resistance or strategy how to win. I liked season 1 much more than this movie 6/10.

Pretty solid movie which did manage to capture the feel of goblin slayer.

I'm not sure if this was an original story or simply continuation of adaptation. If it was original story then they really made a good job because it truly felt like 'more goblin slayer'.

As for the recap, well this is a movie and I image that the makers simply wanted it to be a movie that could be watched without anime. As for those that did watch it... well, it's been year and a half by now, I didn't mind rewatching it.

Even more generic than the TV show, and they didn't explain anything. This still plays like a c grade rip off of Berserk and the new blonde in this was an obvious rip off of Farnese.

Series was 8/10 for me. The movie only 7/10. I went with -1 becaues of the recap and because the plot itself was not that special. Liked the noble girl and her background story and the style with the sword + lightning magic. (Though we did not get to see that much of it. I hope she'll return later ... if a S2 happens - to join slayer and his party to learn and to make up for her past mistakes where her other party got killed cause of her.)

I must be honest.

The Grimmjack Abridged series of Goblin Slayer kinda spoiled this anime to me.

The voice and personality of GS boy in the youtube is SO great, SO perfect, so Funny but at same time SO badass and the lines are sooo EPIC that it is now my standard for this series.

It is not a trash adaptation, but actually they took it seriously.

I just can imagine how amazing would be this movie also adapted.

I enjoyed it, but I really felt like this was nothing new, noteworthy or special. We got a 25 minute recap, the an hour long OVA essentially. The CGI, animation quality, art etc was basically what we’ve already seen in the show and the story never really went anywhere.

I did like blonde girl, but there was really no type of story in the film overall. You break in the fort, kill the paladin and that’s it. We got no closer to understanding the goblins’ origins, why they attack, etc. Solid 7/10, that’s about it.

Once I finish my book backlog, I’ll just read the series.

She's a major character on the LN, at the level she's a backstage helper for more important matters in GS world, the thing is that the adaptation lacks a lot of stuff to real enjoy the world of GS, and the rushed movie don't help at all on to like her

I liked that quite a bit. I had no problem with the rehash, as I'd forgotten about the fight with the hob, and I was glad to see it again.

I was very surprised they chose this arc for the movie, as it's so new, but I was glad they did. I wish they had shown a little more of how the sacrifice had been prepared, and the how the sacrifice would be performed. Same goes for the captives in the fortress, I'd like to have seen more details, or maybe a scene of meat shields being constructed.

But, even missing these crucial elements, I still give the flick a 5/5 and I'll be watching it again.

Well, this wasn't a bad watch to be honest. I was expecting some more hardship and grit from Goblin Slayer and co. like some of the battles in the tv series but it kind of turned out to be an easy win in the end.

New character in the form of the amateur adventurer/noblewoman just had that one major role in the end pretty much but understandable so considering what she had to go through just earlier. Got to say, I was a little perplexed by the lack of guards there though and a few more points along those lines.

Anyway, it was fairly nice to see some of the usual interactions within the crew and the elf in particular even though I don't happen to be the biggest fan of it.

Going to settle with a 5/10 here. Season 2 next? Why not, White Fox?

It was a good about 1 hour long movie.
First 25 minutes it was a quick recap of season 1. The real story starts later.

(28:02) the goblins were playing with the priestess. That was kinda adorable.

Not bad overall, an enjoyable but short adventure. Recap at the beginning wasn't a bad addition though, I had forgotten some events/parts.

I kinda found the pacing of Goblin's Crown kinda (too) fast but well, those are the risks brought with a movie.

yes i agree, and while the anime was much better than this movie, the manga is much better than both. The film only came to establish itself as the worst thing done in the franchise. It would be much better if they had announced a second season and adapted this film in 3 episodes, maybe the shame would be less

Yep. Kind of a shame they spend a good 30 minutes or so on recap. Didnt feel like watching a movie at all. Just a special, but it wasnt bad. Interesting lore on the Goblins part, thats for sure. They kinda butchered the Coronation scene and the Paladin seemed to not put up much of a fight, but I really enjoyed the escape scenes and the fights nonetheless.

That was okay... I guess. Visuals were a pretty massive disappointment. Was expecting some improvements because it was categorized as a movie but it was more like 2 TV episodes thrown together with a long recap shoved in then re-branded as a movie.

All that only to just be hinted that the goblins are up to something.

7/10 for me. And that is being biased in favor of it. If I wasn't a huge GS fan it'd be 5/10 or 6/10.

I'm an LN reader. Not going to go on a whinge on at length about how a lot things were missing. Some shots were beautifully done (Noble Fencer's Lightning spell and the Protection vs avalanche were very good), but overall the show suffers from a lot of bad animation, particularly the panning shots with the characters running and GS and Goblin Paladin exchanging blows. It just felt like a rushed job. Wonky character eyes are still present, same goes for the questionable CG. Final scene at the lookout didn't feel as heartwarming and wholesome as it was written. Could have made it more akin to the ending of the season show in terms of pacing. That would make it at least end in a better note.

Overall it's fine. I look forward to Season 2 happening. Very likely it'll be Volume 6 > 7 > (maybe 8 but might be a little rushed) > 3 and scatter some Volume 4 throughout as "fillers". They CANNOT completely skip Volume 3, because fan service. Volume 6 is almost the perfect arc to start off Season 2 because it's SORT OF like "going back" to Episode 1.

I see! A pretty good movie, it's just as what someone can expect from Goblin Slayer! Some nice action, many goblins slayed

Sound is as great as ever, especially that song by Mili at the end was really nice!

One thing I had hoped, is that it would have been a higher quality than the series, cause of the movie but seems this wasn't the case and at some points it actually felt worse than the main series! That and the recap was way too long.

7/10, was nice to have some new content of Goblin Slayer, but the series was far better. Now hoping a season 2 will be produced!

This one-hour movie is fitting for GS but at this point I'm no longer sure what the value of this series is. Beyond the initial shock value and the brutality, GS has fallen into a relatively set pattern that doesn't seem to come with any sense of plot progression. Yes, we've generally progressively faced tougher enemies, and there has been a growing sense of camaraderie, but this one seemed like a backslide of sorts. The battle itself was not that intense (Goblin Slayer barely dented). The strategy not that interesting (avanlache go brrrr). Yet another traumatized rape victim to be saved (I've lost count). Why is rape even a constant emphasis of this series? Can't goblins just stick to burning villages or something?

To be clear, it's not that there's anything inherently wrong with or nonsensical about the sequence of events in this movie, but if this kind of pattern is supposed to be a sign of what S2 will be, then I probably won't have much to look forward to.

Finally got around to watching this. Not particularly deep and looks like fans of the LN/manga are pissed because it wasn't a good adaptation. As an anime-only I came to see Goblin Slayer and friends kill some goblins, got what I was looking for. Wish the Goblin Paladin was more badass though, the way they built him up I felt like he would be a bigger challenge than the Lord from season 1. 7/10

That new girl was kinda annoying, she got her 3 teammates killed, one raped and killed and herself raped and cursed, didn't learn from that and then hurt herself and the priestess while almost ruining their plan and still acting like a jerk to everyone.

Fun adventure, killed a high profile goblin and everyone grew closer together, a new Mili song is always a plus.

Even though it was only 90ish minutes, it felt so long even though not much happened. I guess moral of the story is Goblin Slayer is badass for thinking on his toes, but also without his comrades he grows to be a bit predictably reckless. With the others watching his back is the only way he can conquer the goblins.......unless....one of them become a goblin? the traumatized girl makes a comeback s3/m3? On a sidenote, I feel like if Goblin Slayer died, his comrades would be more pissed off then grieved.

I am reading manga at same point this movie is happening and let's be honest, manga is more gory and detailed as ever. Movie was okay, I like this DnD slaying goblin adventure, I have minor complains about CGI characters and some clusterfrak moments when group is being close tailed but dozens and dozens of goblins, which next scene are either gone or incredibly far away. And boss fight was kinda lame. But it's okay movie or big ova episode. I hope maybe for another character joining a group, but don't know how this noble battlemage would work with rest, it was kinda meh, maybe bit yuri moments with priestess.
