Valentine episode, and everybody is preparing their chocolate. We finally have Sakurai's little bro, Yuto appear. He is a SHOTA, I repeat we have a SHOTA in this anime, and damn he's cute...yes. It's sad that Souta went jealous just because Yuto walked on a center island.
I will never understand the appeal of matcha, but for once I'll forgive it in this episode. Matcha chocolate is something that Takeda can dig in. And lastly, vodka chocolate...I want some of that.
The chief is pretty based, that's a dream boss right there.
First time I've ever heard Horie Yui voice a shota lmao, honestly adorable. I wonder if that's Yuuto's natural hair color or he's just going through a phase. Kazama's reaction to Sakurai and her little brother was gold lmao. But we got some wholesomeness when they cleared up the misunderstanding. Pretty adorable valentines episode.
Igarashi is getting a little more assertive in her actions, which I like. She takes the teasing from Natsumi and Sakurai, but still goes through with it in the end. Also, my man Kazama was fucking DEVASTATED for half the episode. I'm a little disappointed that his chocolate did seem "less" than everyone else's giri chocolate, but it was different (and I would suppose more expensive) than the others, could be more easily concealed in a bag, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, it was Sakurai's intention behind the chocolate, not so much the chocolate itself, that made it special. Good episode.
That Akihito Tsukushi end-card tho. Sakurai's little bro has become the Maruruk of this series lol.
Such a sweet episode we got this time. Futaba managed to give homemade choco to her beloved Senpai and Kazama going through a depression state was hilarious.
"Manga readers are annoying, all they do is complain or spoil the anime we discuss in an anime forum.
They should really do their whining at manga forums.

And so we get a Valentine's day episode in which Takeda-san gets homemade chocolate from Futaba and Kazama gets store bought chocolate from Sakurai after a misunderstanding seeing her with her little brother.
I got some real Riki vibes from Yui Horie's performance as Yuto, and Kaginado aside it feels like it's been ages since I've heard her voice in anything.
That aside, I'm starting to run out of ways to praise how cute and wholesome each episode of this show is being. So this time, some particular highlights include Chief playing wingman when he noticed Futaba was missing Takeda in the office, Futaba making the green tea chocolate for Takeda after picking up on his comment in the ramen shop and Sakurai cheering Kazama up with the chocolate at the end.
The contrast between Futaba's despair and happy expressions at different points in the episode was great as well, and damn did Doga Kobo bring that despair panel to life so well. Also an interesting glimpse into Sakurai's past: was that in the manga, cos I don't remember it?
Poor Kazama didn't take the sight of Sakurai walking with another guy very well at all. The way he was shocked and how he reacted afterwards was funny, but I'm glad that little misunderstanding was cleared up when Sakurai told him that she was only walking home with her younger brother.
The overall scene with the two of them talking by the stairs was really sweet as, despite not getting the fancier chocolate compared to the other colleagues, Sakurai was right to say that to Kazama that the thoughts behind giving chocolate to someone matters. Seeing how happy Futaba was when her gift to Takeda was well received is more proof of that fact. =)
Once again, we got another ambitious ending illustration, this time from the Made In Abyss creator, where Souta, Sakurai's younger brother, was shown in many interesting poses and outfits, which was a big contrast to how pure he was in the episode. XD
Poor Kazama was a walking L for the majority of the episode lmao.
The valentines setting fit very well with the series and I absolutely loved this episode. I'm really liking the series and hopefully it can continue what it does
ok manga readers, are they rushing EVERYTHING? or did the mangaka actually jump from December to February? usually that huge of a timeskip in anime doesn't happen easily. most anime draw out over tons of episodes the time in-between huge seasonal signposts. plus they usually linger upon those signposts and well... beat a dead horse into pulp... with the amount of 'screentime' those signposts get. just look at Toradora, the cultural festival arc, the christmas arc, the valentines day cookies arc, the summer vacation at that girl's beach-house arc... storyline after storyline moved through those seasonal events. whereas Senpai is Irritating seems to be playing calendar hopscotch with Olympic Long Jump spaced squares.
also... if i remember my Japanese office lady attire tropes... isn't Ms. Sakurai... a secretary? the pink sleeveless coat-vest thingy she wears over her blouse... hahah whatever it's called... a smock? ... isn't that an old corporate uniform that secretaries wore?
just an ol school American otaku enjoyin the life. don't sass me kiddies, i've been otaku probably since before you were born. leave me in peace and i won't bother you either.
Futaba put matcha in because she thought it wouldn't be too sweet for Takeda 's palate. Though I still think it's to remind him of her using an ingredient that matches her hair color.
Haha the jealousy was real. But yea from here on out.. things should escalate fast.
Behold of my awesomeness~
controversial and/or sensitive topics likely devolve into the same repetitive, derogatory, abusive, and harassing comments can no longer be posted.
But my feels.
Kazama really ate a ghost after seeing Touko with Yuuto together, a funny reminder that adults can be so lightheaded at times.
Whiskered Boss is a star of the episode, first pushing up Takeda and Igarashi meeting after work and in the end bringing a stunning homemade cake for the team.
Damn Kazama got into some depression but atleast things got cleared up by the end. That smug face of Sakurai during the clearing of misunderstanding and that end card was crazy.
I really liked this episode, I thought it was really good that the anime focused more on Kazama and Sakurai. However, I think things between them are going too fast, they could go slower.
God I love this anime so much. That emphasis on Sakurai X Kazama is too good. I love that ship so much. Kazama fr a baka smh, dude puts himself too low like damn. Sakurai for sure really wanted him to take not but dude kinda dense it is unfortunate. Kinda like Takeda with Futaba. Guys be guys?? Idk. But I love it all anyway.
Poor Kazama had to go through a lot in this episode. But, at least they corrected their misunderstandings and it was cute seeing all of them sharing their chocolates. Sakurai is really cute and so is Kazama. I wanted to see his grin. LOL
Tsukishiro; yup I found a new kink.
Yet another episode filled with wholesomeness, without any unnecessary drama.
The boss is GOATED, btw.
Kazama reminds me so much of Ishigami; glad his depression period was resolved.
This is too adorable and actually quite fun to watch. ๐
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.
Valentine's day has never been this chill and relaxing in that workplace, with Futaba sharing her own homemade chocolates, the Chief going all out with that cake and hey let's sprinkle in some slight drama between Sakurai and Kazama. The man's been completely shellshocked for the past day because he thought Sakurai was with another guy, lol. I'm glad that the misunderstanding was resolved quickly in a straightforward manner, as straight as a salaryman can be.
This episode's end card is the most 'out there' by far, as expected by Akihito Tsukushi with his unique MIA artstyle, that really took me out of the wholesome atmosphere real quick for better or worse.
The absolute state of Kazama was hilarious. Seeing Sakurai's reaction to giving chocolate to him made me grin like how Futaba described Kazama grinning.
Poor Kazama. I really sympathize with his getting in his own head about Sakurai. Though, I can't believe he drank all those energy drinks and his heart didn't explode. Oh well, all's well that ends well.
Pretty good episode.
"...Is your mother worried? Would you like us to assign someone to worry your mother?"
My man Kazama was really down this episode... but at least it was very funny. I did not think Sakurai could get this upset with him though, glad it all worked out in the end.
