That was an okay movie for me but the car racing was on another level especially in the redline, with explosions and bullets flying and Jp and sonoshee winning and kissing. The visual were disgusting for me.

Tbh the "adrenaline rush" this movie gives you, carries the movie. When i watched it the first time i was amazed, but after rewatching it i've found that outside of the rush and visuals it wasen't that special.
Still a good movie tho.

From the beginning until the end... The music, art style, and the pure chaos that this movie presented is OVERWHELMING!!! This movie is so fast-paced I have to concentrate looking at it! Each frame is looking beautiful!

There are so many things to say to this EPIC movie! There is a few flashback to tell the whole story but that's just now enough. However, everything else makes up for it!

Madhouse never ceases to impress me...

This is what seven years of dedicated work looks like. The first word that comes to mind to describe the animation in Redline is "insane." This level of detail is normally reserved for manga and graphic novels as sustaining such detail in animation is considered too tedious and time consuming. But that didn't stop No-Fucks-Given Madhouse from taking on such an ambitious project. Every shot overindulges in style, a really complex movement, or a special effects animation that must've taken weeks to fine-tune. The action scenes in the first 10 minutes, and the last 30 minutes, are some of the most incredibly choreographed set pieces I've seen in any medium. Judging on art—and art alone—this movie gets a 10/10. Redline should be considered required viewing for any animation enthusiast.

And still, Bill will live on.
He will befriend the next inhabitants of the earth, beings of light who revere him as a god.
And Bill will outlive them all... for millions and millions of years...exploring, learning, living,
until the earth is swallowed beneath his feet.
Until the sun is long since gone.
Until time loses all meaning and the moment comes that he knows only the positions of the stars
and sees them whether his eyes are closed or open.
Until he forgets his name and the place where he'd once come from.
He lives and he lives until all of the lights go out.

The art style was really smooth, I'll give you that. I wouldn't expect any less from Mad House when it comes to the animation. But the rest of the movie is pretty much shit. The characters are unoriginal, the script is full of unnecessary dialogues and curse words, the shit story is told in a shitty way so it becomes an even more of a shit story. You don't even understand wtf is going on half the time. Also that was one of the cheesiest endings I've ever seen. I thought it was left back in the 80's to end a movie with a kissing scene that comes immediately after the main character reaching his goal.

Super fun movie, crazy action with amazing art style and nice animation that helps you get hooked in it from the start.

I loved it, this is one of those anime when you watch them you realize why you like anime medium, this thing can't be found in other mediums. It is super unique and creative with its animation and art.

No need for story, i can enjoy this movie just by looking at the visuals, as i think this was its main strong point, MadHouse is definitely my favorite anime studio.

The first time I saw this film I found it quite average with amazing visuals. I hadn't seen many animated films yet back then and I was merely looking for some fun action. I knew it was good film but didn't realise that it would become a pinnacle of animation for me that I would look so much up to.

After visiting this movie multiple times I think I finally learned appreciate this feat. The ammount of details in each frame and perfectly fitting artstyle have left me an everlasting impact. It's not a perfect movie but it looks so damn perfect.

With the extremely trippy character designs of the background characters, it was pretty challenging to digest what I was watching immediately in its first few minutes but I became totally enamored towards the whole movie way quicker than I had expected.

The exhilarating races had me watching silently in awe, concentrated at following every single detail in each scene so I wouldn't get left in the dust. It was awesome to watch the Red Racers sabotage Roboworld's officials at every turn up until the beginning of the race and it was even more exciting to see them all try their best to avoid the hundreds of soldiers charging right at them.

Both Sonoshee and JP betters are super lucky because both of them had managed to win at the same time. That bloodpumping experience had brought them together and they have won the best prize of them all ♡

Animation porn at its finest, honestly. Love the amount of work and detail that went into this one, along with the ability for it to stay consistent throughout. It's weak lore-wise for sure, but I just don't care much about that in a film like this to be honest. Looking forward to watching some other Madhouse works if this is the kind of animation quality I can expect.

fantastic animation, it was breathtaking
overall the movie fell fairly flat though
fantastic animation kicks it up to a nice solid 7/10

The Yellow Line with which the Movie started out was by far the most entertaining part of this Movie.
Then we have weak Plot and weak Characterization throughout and the Red Line turned into a biomutant godzilla fight, too weird for me.
I just expected the red line to be more of a race.

Every frame a painting. I remember the first time I watched this and it still looks and feels just as amazing.
Though I thought the battle was longer, felt longer in my memory.

Cherry Boy Hunter Sonoshee is waifu material. When she was so dedicated to get back on track in the flashback I would have fallen for her as well.

I remembered this as "god tier animation saves every plot" but the plot itself was actually decent. Other movies dont have much more. And this looks amazing on top.
I wish there would be a part 2, Blackline or something.

Insane adrenaline kick. I cant sleep now.

In my opinion, this would be better if they focused more on races while removing all that army people who attacked racers all the time, including that bio weapon. I expected racers to use weapon not other people. I disappointed in this film in this aspect.

How did this go under my radar for the past 10 years? Every moment was hands drawn, the aesthetic and creativity always keep me entertained, the thrills were at every moment in the races. It's one hell of a ride!

It's sad to know that this film flop at launch. Redline deserves a better fate than this.

This is what I call a tasteful manchild movie.

There are indeed some interesting messages & social criticisms in this movie but all of those things are most likely clouded by the fanciness, funkiness & grooviness of the visuals, the characters & the musics.

There are also some nice references to previous pop-culture products, which the manchild in me found quite pleasing.

Now, this is a MASTERPIECE :)

The story (chaotic setting) might not be all that great ; but
1. I am impressed by the ANIMATION.
2. The Cool & Dedicated protagonist JP risking his life for the thrill & cares for the one he loves SONOSHEE. This reason is enough to give it 9 (great)
3. It took 7 years to turn it into an ANIME (saw it on google).

First of all “M A D HOUSE" killed it with the animation. The first 7mins were the best of the whole anime. Man that race, that tension, I was like im part of that race. Everything thing is perfect with that animation.

Plot is ok I would buy it.

This was absolutely incredible! I've never seen anything more chaotic than this film.
I really liked the overall aesthetic of this world, especially the character designs. It all kinda reminded me of F-Zero, though I've only played one game from that franchise. There were some parts that I wasn't the biggest fan of and would have preferred more racing scenes instead but that's just me.

They really wanted to show Sonoshee topless, uh? Honestly hilarious how that's the only reason as for why this film is rated R+ when I actually thought she and Sweet JP would hook up or something at some point xD

Okay, let's see... visually speaking, this movie was absolutely outstanding but that said, I really wish the story would have been only related to the Redline race instead of including so many poorly executed sub-plots. Military secrets; barely explained political issues with other planets/civilizations; a suddenly hidden fetus-like biological weapon the government can't even control; another creature-like weapon to fight said fetus; Frisbee having his own problems with some mafia dudes; etc... seriously, this movie would have been far more entertaining if it were just about the races and JP's developing relationship with Sonoshee. In cases like this, adding more into the mix isn't always good.

And as for the Redline race itself, I honestly found the Yellow Line pre-stage far more exciting. Sorry but there was way too much chaos, bullets and explosions to fully understand what was happening and the constant focus changes between the race and what was happening with the President and his generals completely avoided the thrilling atmosphere from reaching peak intensity. Not to mention also that the decision of concluding the movie in such abrupt way without giving resolution to that exhausting list of uninteresting side-plots was... rather disappointing to say the least. I mean, why adding so many ramifications to your story if you don't even give them proper closure?

6/10 - Not gonna lie, I enjoyed both races a lot and the production values for this movie can easily remain in animation history for a long time but if this project took 7 years of production... man, I wish the studio would have put a bit more effort into the overall story execution as well.

They really didn't have to go so over the top for 40 minutes for that adrenaline rush. I think it could've had the same impact on the viewer with less stuff going on and a shortened race. Then again, I don't think a mediocre romantic subplot to fill the space left behind by the action would be much better.

They really nailed the dialogue, humor, and character interactions though. I can't believe this was made in Japan because the tone is so American.

I still think Speed Racer (2008) provides a good balance of exhilaration and emotion. It's not nearly as over the top, but its races are still just as enthralling. In that film there was a beauty to the way the cars moved- actual racing- so it didn't need to rely on crazy over the top nitro boosts.

This is my usual long-ass commentary:

Overall, its still hold on my 8/10 scores, tho. Idk why. Its because of my averaging style? Sure. Why not? Lol. Nothing much i can say about it. Its purely based on my own satisfaction. Its basically good. I may turned this at my 10. However, i shall give some note to stated my complain over their success for making a brilliant approaching that happened on this movie. So, yeah, no 10 for this. More or less, at my another note, Redline just your basic racing show, that somehow really lead you with a different route, depend on your own tastes. It can turn out to be good if you like their nuances. Or you might hate it because of its clicheness, a huge noise that disturb your earing, or even the unnecessarity romance happened at its end. Thats it all for me.
