I like the ending of the song. Even if it was only one episode and it was short, I really enjoyed it:D 8/10 from me. It's fun to watch. I don't really enjoy FLCL but I enjoyed this.
Some of the "disappointed" comments on here are hilarious.
This was a ONE MAN SHOW, an artist hustling for work. Every living legend had humble beginnings and this one here is extraordinary all things considered.
...how do people give this 9's and 10's when its so freaking short? Music was the best part of the show, the story is insanely 1/2 assed, you don't even know what this is all about.
Sure its all 'implied' but for a fantasy sci-fi OVA, it leaves absolutely nothing to be explained. Other than they have cool marshmellows that can shapeshift into practically anything and the users have radio antennas on their head. Big fat monster falls out of the sky and it takes the military a whole DAY to decide to attack it? What are they aliens? time travellers? expermients? Some sort of VR game?
To many holes to give this a great. Action was OKAY nothing fast paced... just alot of kirby-esque fighting. "I'm gunna eat you!" NO! Im gunna eat you!! NOM NOM... lot of that considering the 20 minute time frame. IT DID, however, pull me into the idea of the series, if became an actual tv series i'd give it a shot but for now, its just a:
5/10 (average)
EDIT: In my comments section for this anime, I called this OVA "Pokemon meets FLCL aimed toward a seinen crowd"
"What happens when we die?" I know that the ones who love us will miss us.
Random, fast paced, dry humor, quick fighting, and plain characters all together makes a very irreisistable OVA. I liked it. It entertained me and put a smile on my face. The simple nature of Yuki was amazing. She was being held hostage and she's just sitting there, like, "I'm hungry." lol. I found her character along with all the others to be so calm and relaxed that I was falling in love.
BUT, 7 for lack of time and story plot :)
Confusing and weird but enjoyable. There just wasn't enough explanation behind all the monsters but considering one guy did the whole thing, it was pretty damn impressive.
Impressive for a one man project. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised since I wasn't much of a fan of Makoto Shinkai's Voices from a Distant Star project.
The lack of background music was actually a plus for me. I felt like it really added to the entire apathetic atmosphere that the visuals constructed. I liked the characters too. I was always a fan of the entire apathetic couple thing, though they just met.
Maybe it's just me but the ending song felt completely out of place. I discovered Cencoroll in the middle of watching Bakemonogatari and downloading its OST. I found LOVE & ROLL there and fell in love with it. Great image song but I did not expect the singer to be anywhere near how Yuki was. Was a bit disappointed to not hear "Theme of Cencoroll" anywhere in the OVA. What a great theme.
All in all, this is interesting and definitely has some potential. I for one am very glad that a sequel is confirmed.
I liked the plot - but they didn't too much development in that short time. I would say that it's good that a sequel is coming out: I can't wait to see what happens next! They just should have made this into a show.
"Cheer up, you’re never alone! There is probably at least 1 bug in your room."
Oh I didn't know a second one has been announced. Seems like to be another of those short episodes unless I'm clueless. Cencoroll has been one of those anime that is more of 'concept for a series' than a standalone for me. The universe has potential and I would like it to fully realised.
The nonchalant attitudes of the characters led to several humourous scenes while still maintaing a realistic feeling to it. The artstyle really appealed to me as it looked very detailed and naturalistic and along with a funky soundtrack it made this movie quite an enjoyable watch for me.
it was okay; 7/10 only b/c it was done by one dude. And does no one care that the thing ate his arm, changed masters and now the girls like you can borrow him? I would be like F$$K you, killed her and then the monster who freaking at my arm.
When I first saw this I expected too much of this with everyone praising it. Then I got slightly discouraged by the time but, hey, something solid still should be able to be pulled off. So, I gave it a try. Well, I was VERY disappointed. This was bad. The only reason why I didn't rate it lower was because it's just 20 mins and the battles at least kept me interested. But otherwise this was bad. The characters had NO nature, all of them felt like they were completely alike. The only difference I saw was that there was always one person that spoke more. But during every scene that person was someone else.
Not to mention that the characters constantly acted as if they were bored. A giant monster grabbed the girl, she sounded, looked and acted bored. Giant monsters fighting, everyone sounded, looked and acted bored. Random monster pops up, everyone sounded, looked and acted bored. You get my point now.
The art felt lazy at times and faces felt off, one would think that they would try harder when it has just 20 mins. And the story... oh, the story... No one ever tried to explain anything, no one ever asked anything, everyone just went with the flow and no character ever questioned what was going on. It was as if I was watching a VERY badly played film. Everyone knows the script but they can't pull off any other role than that of a bored character.
Not to mention that I got completely lost in the last battle. At the end I had completely no idea who was controlling who and who was on which side. And don't get me started about the whole purpose of the plot. Sure, I don't mind that we never learned what those creatures are or what they are doing there or how they got there or how does one bond with them (assuming "give me control" doesn't cut it when they first meet them). But they could AT LEAST tell why the hell would they fight! Sure, they needed to feed their creatures but there should be some free running creatures so why start a big fight when you can get it easier? I mean, if one guy can bond with 2 of them, there must be plenty of them running along, so why fight? Why cause national problems? This anime felt stupid on so many levels that I actually dropped the rating as I was writing this. XD Final rating: 4/10
Good animation and music. But it should have been at least longer, but I heard it would have a part II. I like the alien things here hahaha they're kind of cute in my opinion.
First of all, nice opening scenes from the beginning and gave me this mysterious vibe. That is one strange shape-shifter like being though. Reminds me of a marshmallow or something out of a carnival
I think this anime might of involved some rotoscoping? I can't tell exactly but the animations looks fluid. The fight was nice I guess but I loved the soundtrack/OST during that scene.
Just watched it, cool movie. I liked how the character were chill even with all the strange things happening even when that guy lost his arm. I hope we get a release date on the second movie soon.
I was expecting more crazy reactions from the characters, so it somewhat surprised me when they were pretty calm. So now the guy has the ability to morph his arm. This was pretty good for a one man production.
Cencoroll is so cute.
The main characters voice sounds so lethargic, just listening to him almost put me to sleep.
The show reminds me of parasite; especially the part where he throws the pipe at cencoroll.
7/10
A lot of the art, especially during the beginning is pretty nice
Plot-wise, I really don't know.
In terms of characters, it was basically just Hanazawa and not giving a crap.
I really enjoyed that. The sort of organic way that Cenco transforms, the way not a single character gave a fuck about anything lol.
The only thing I didn't really like was the way Cenco totally just ntr'd Tetsu. He eats his freakin arm then just peaces out to Yuki....wtf bro? I thought he'd go back to him after the fight but nope, he stays with Yuki. That is not cool man.
