Good episode, I wonder how or why Arthur's parents disappeared though. I'm guessing they combusted? From what I've seen from them they seem like parent's who wouldn't just leave their child like that without a reason so I'm guessing they combusted.

During the flashback, Arthur's parents said that their restaurant was talked about during the news for burning down, but not before being reported for poisoning problems. I saw a lot of other ideas and think the one that made most sense was that his parents either fled away from home or went to jail for debt problems, and left Arthur at home (this isn't a spoiler btw just pure speculation, since I haven't read ahead and the idea was just from discussions with other people).

They did just seem like nice people in a shitty situation, and I hope what I described above wasn't fully correct and that they didn't abandon their kid. Hopefully the anime gives some more context on Arthur's backstory later so it is more clear.

Arthur's power up is such an asspull and a result of lazy writing.

And of course, Shinra just snaps into and out of his demon mode like that.
damn you're dumb.. didn't you read the subtitles? It literally explains everything almost instantly, there's no "demon mode" in fire force and if you think Arthur's backstory explaining his power was lazy...LMFAOOOO

By demon mode, I mean Shinra going crazy. If you didn't understand that, then it seem you may be dumb.

And how does "I like to think of myself as king" explaining a ridiculous power up not look like lazy to you?

Great episode. I can't believe that they adapted almost 6+ chapters of the manga, yet the pacing flows naturally unlike during Season 1. Those slick fight animations though, they are pleasure to my eyes.

Honestly, this episode wasn't good. It was too rushed. They should have trashed the atrocity that was last week and split this week's episode into two longer ones so we could appreciate everything that just happened. The first season was so brilliantly crafted, I'm already bored of this season and it feels like generic crap so far.

So Arthur was an abandoned child though there must be some reason for that.

Never thought Arthur would be able to hold out against Shinra even if he wasn't going all out.

The anime adaptation really brings out the creepiness even more than the manga.

Nice a new pillar has come, time to see if they can get him/her before the evangalists gets their hands on him/her.

They didn't even portray Arthur's parents as evil or neglectful in the flashback so I was pretty shocked that they'd just abandon him like that.

There has to be a bigger reason cmon, no way they showed a pair of kind ass parents secretly being a bunch of jerks that abandon their kid. They didn't have that vibe.

Arthur's backstory was one of the stupidest and unimaginative I had to ever see in anime. Poor family, Arthur's grabs his dad's hat, insert Spongebob's box of imagination. Parents gone and he's like 'That's it! I really am a knight.' for the next 10 years or so.

Shinra's battle was pretty standard for a 'MC has to face his inner conflict' battle. The character design was however pretty memorable and hellishly good looking. What was also good that it was more of a brainwashing and using his existing weaknesses instead of him just being possessed or whatever.

'Who get's the new pillar first?' Well, the evangelists could have had him/her 100%, if the author wasn't so lazy about the ways in which he progresses the plot. Talkative enemies have thus far been the saving grace for the 8th.

Shinra's meeting with the Captain of Company 4, Commander Hague/Arg, the obscene fascination about Adolla Links and his Adolla Burst that is even creepier in anime form than the manga.

Unfortunately, the Evangelists are back again to thwart Shinra's memories and being with an Adolla Link, and Ogun and Arthur interfere...and what's with that RPG elements lols, was that supposed to be a funny gag joke moment?

Arthur's backstory...is it a joke of imagination? That was just one of the most unoriginal and blatant excuses of family abandonment. I mean, Shinra's backstory is as uninspired, and Arthur's one just one-ups that lazy writing.

Shinra being of the Pillars with Haumea and Sho, who's the other person with the Adolla Burst?

A very fast-paced episode of no breaks, but still makes up for the enjoyment factor.

Omg! The story behind Arthur's 'delusional' personality is so fucking sad! How could his parents do that to him? The fight scenes between him and Devil Shinra were awesome.

It was interesting to see Shinra's inner thoughts come out (about his mother and the fact that his anger has nowhere to go now) since he doesn't express his vulnerable side so much.

Hah hah. I used a perverted old mas as a shield. This is the epitome of comedy writing

The only funny thing I found about this episode was Arthur story of abandonment, because of how dumb, simplistic and melodramatic it was portrayed in such a short time (not to mention how it was shown to all the expectators around them as if it was some Drive-in Theatre). I guess a normal character with a decent backstory is impossible in these kind of angsty teenager shows.

I expected some new characters to appear since it's a new season. And it seems it's going to be interesting. Imo, season 1 was bad at introducing some of its character. But this season might not be so bad, with the exception for that shield masochist...

anyway the episode was a lot of Shinra's innervision and he must have total control of it or else that's gonna be a handicap for him.

This episode was awesome and the animation is just beatiful! They rushed a bit the Arthur's backstory, but it's okay. They are adapting 6 chapters per episode, so if I'm correct, this season will end on the final chapters from the 20th volume of the manga (with a great cliffhanger btw). Anyway, I can't wait to reach my favorite parts!

The animation of this series i really love it, and also really excited for the next episode, cant wait to meet the new piar, y just hope she ends joining up with the 8th. Also didnt expect arthur to have such a dark past, the fight could have been better felt it was a little bit rushed, really expect this season to be better then the first one.
PD: opening of this season is amazing, although the 3 openings have been really great, i just love this one, and the first opening too.

Fire Force's Company captains can't be normal, uh? Great, now we have another weirdo and of course, he had to have some sort of sexual fetish due to his character design resembling a priest...

Leaving animation aside, it was a rather bland episode overall. Fire users now can be "possessed" by people/beings called "Hashira" and although Shinra has all the right to feel hatred, his sudden outburst as well as its whole execution still felt rather forced to me. Not to mention that having the so called Hashira straight out telling him about the Evangelist's next plans for plot purposes didn't help either.

As for the fight, it looked visually nice but Arthur entering his chuunibyou phase in the middle of it really ruined the tension for me. His backstory with his parents suddenly abandoning him one day felt extremely uninspiring as well so I hope there is more context that just wasn't explained yet.

Anyways, it seems next episode we will be introduced to another new character and the chances for me to totally dislike her are pretty high. We'll see.

Fantastic episode! We met a new character or I would say a new pillar that would lead us eventually to a new arc and especially Arthur's past life. Also we got to know more the captain of the 4th.

The fight scene between Arthur and Shinra was slendid and clean. At first I was always cringing at Arthur bragging himself that he is a Kishin but thanks to his past life now my perspective about him is unfolded and I'm sorry for him having finances problems and his family abandoning him.

I'm loving the OP more now but I still think S1's first OP both song and visuals were top-tier.

Granpa and his foot fetish better chile! He licking Shinra's feet and sniffing it like it was nobody's business.

Anyway, I loved that fight between Arthur and Shinra. Arthur's backstory was pretty sad and fucked up.

Also, one of my least favorite characters will be debuting next episode. I'm not looking forward to it. I'm going to be pissed throughout episode 3.

Also simplistic? dumb? and you call the backstory simply bad?

Have you thought that animes like fire force are not your thing? Why you do not stay to slice of life garbages you watch? Like you are way out of your league there buddy.
Personally i dislike slice of life animes they always have 1-2 standard themes and they have done to literally death.
I wouldn't even waste my 20 minutes to watch some school guy trying to express his feelings to some girl he grew up and got feelings for him and all this crap.

He’s critiquing the anime and expressing the things he didn’t like. It’s a discussion post, it’s what happens here. If you want to present a counter-argument, go for it. But, saying “why do you even watch these Shōnen shows” and then shit-talking SoL anime makes you look like an idiot.

Bro why you try to pull out a deku now? Do you think this guy is not capable of answering by his own?

Do you think he really needs support and so your hero sundrome kicks in?
I never said anything about: " why do you even watch these shonen shows" can you even read and understand properly? Do you want me to write again what i said?

Ok have it your way: here is exactly what i said: " personally i dislike slice of life animes they always have a standard theme and they have done it to literally death. i wouldn't even waste 20 minutes of that."
As you saw i never said anything about i hate shonen shows i am specifically saying i dislike slice of life genre and not shonen shows I am not even sure how you come to this conclusion reading a clear as fuck thing i said.

I do not think he criticized anything all he did saying that everything was bad there is a line between criticizing and bullshiting and i think he bullshit 99,9% and criticized 0,1%
After all how can someone who puts 10/10 on stupid slice of life shows can understand how it feels to watch something that has actually action on it?

I would really like to hear if he can even understand arthurs story.
All he did understood from watching was, that he started imagining things out of nowhere and then his parents left him.

Like i am 100% that is what he understood.
Do you know what i understood by watching arthurs backstory?

The guys financial were crappy they had a restaurant but apparently they couldn't manage well so they closed it.

They were broke as hell so his dad touch arthur to use imagination in order to enter a different world a much better reality and they left because apparently they couldn't support arthur any longer because they couldn't affort eat for 3 guys because the more you are when you have a limit supply of food that supply will end faster so they left for arthur's survival.

Want me to compare the 2 different observations?

I do not even need to compare it, to figure out who got better observation and comprehencion abilities.

The only thing i will agree on what he said was that his entire backstory was fast and that was the 0,1% of perhaps right critism he did because the rest 99,9% was him saying everything was crap.

(Here is my thoughts through the episode.)

This show is becoming fucking annoying to watch...seriously we get a character that fucking whistles majority of the time?(Yes I know it ties back to his powers, that doesn't make less stupid.). What the fuck is this shit? No wonder 14 year olds are eating up this mess. Throw in a boring internal conflict of shit we already know and you just see me shaking my head. This show fails at being serious as much as it does being funny.

Also rage....angry? What the fuck? Shinra wasn't struggling with this LOL! He was struggling with being accepted and wanting to be seen as a hero. This show is forgetting shit they setup. LOL! Anndddd now we get some stupid comedy with foot licking and whatever the those white coats are doing. More weird fire fetish shit that is suppose to be funny.

The animation is still nice. Also...we're legit trying to make some stupid turn based RPG bullshit? God this is so cringe. The fight is so well done but why is this show written by hacks who think they're funny? Also, fuck Arthur with a rusty nail. This backstory just makes him worse. He is basically living out an RP that never stops. It is so fucking cringe and stupid. This is suppose to make us care about this fucking moron. He is Patrick Star with a sword. They shove him and Shinra down our throats to desperately to make us like them. They really want them to be the new Naruto and Sasuke.....without all that cool stuff that happens to them. So to have Arthur give this little speech is so odd...it sounds disjointed and very tryhard. He is also a nonstop asshole to Shinra, so why should we the viewer care about what he says? Deku and Bakugo this figure out in my opinion.

I AM A HERO! Like we didn't know that last season Shinra. This shows loves repeating itself. This episode was fucking bad. I am happy the English Dub greatly improved at least.

Arthur's backstory just greatly improved his character and the show. It was beautifully executed, and perfectly fits the tonal development of Fire Force; it went from escapist warmth to a cold and cruel reality in a single scene

We don't know what kind of people we truly are until the moment before our deaths.
As death comes to embrace you, you will realise what you are.
That's what death is, don't you think?
