One of my favorite video games series is Yakuza and that now feels like a spiritual successor in some ways. Though Shenmue has way more of an old kung fu movie vibe. | Platinumed DMC5 2 days ago and finished all 3 characters for Bloody Palace in one go yesterday. I went back to continue my replay of RE series. I put it on-hold in RE3 (in the alley near the extinguisher, before getting the oil) before DMC5's release, man, Nemesis kicked my ass but I readjusted and finally put him down after 3 deaths. Only finished chapter 5 and I'm already finding it to be scarier than any Resident Evil game I've played. Facing Laura gave me a level of anxiety I haven't felt since playing the first Outlast years ago. I do think however that some of the complaints by critics are understandable, namely the inability to reload checkpoints, excessive one-hit kill mechanics, and distractingly large cinematic bars (thankfully this last one can be fixed on PC using a console command). Still, a very fun game so far. And yeah, the Humble Bundle version comes with all the DLCs. Have you played the sequel? |

Unless you didn't update, there's an option to turn off letterbox. For checkpoints, (I went and checked how I did it) use the load option and choose your autosave. The one-hit mechanics are subjectif I guess. But for me TEW1 handled them well, to be always on the lookout and be wary. That's as long as we're talking about normal difficulty. I remember trying Akumu to see how is it for when I decide to play it next time, and that's what I see as excessive lol Yeah, I played the sequel, it's good too. It dumbed down some things from TEW1 but introduced some other things to make it its own experience different from the 1st one. And the story was straigthforward. A good part of my enjoyment was because I loved TEW1. Do play the first 2 DLCs first. The 3rd one is fun too but in case you wanted to continue with the story first, you can leave it for later if you want to. |

It's a survival horror game, and as a survival horror game it's one of the best. People played it expecting some the last of us shit. The story sucks, but survival horror games are not about the story. Gameplay, and bosses are amazing. The double box head fight was amazing, not to mention in akumu mode. I think they fucked up the second game because of this, and tried to have to make a compelling story when it was cringe as f. I just want cool bosses and gameplay, and thats what evil within 1 did perfectly. Here's hoping shinji mikami directs more games. |

I really didn't like the combat in God Eater 3, it feels really spastic and almost more like a hack and slash compared to earlier games. And they nerfed the guns to the point of being useless, the guns and bullets really helped make the original 2 games stand out. I am currently going through the campaign in God Eater 2 with my roomate, though she spends more time picking outfits than crafting weapons, lol. |
