Got to see more of Stella and her squad this episode. I think that's probably a good thing since I find her character more appealing than Yuuki.

More despair, death, and smile shattered this episode...yeah, this show is becoming more and more depressing. I hope we find out more about Stella's past though. She can be more of a cold character than I had expected.

Well Stella seems rather emotionless in appearance at least.
And her unit seems to be pretty special tho it's a question to what will happen seeing as Yuki's country seems to be the loosing side.
Tho they seem to have some good technology.

Pretty solid episode. This might shape up to be pretty interesting. I think any other anime would use that 'saving the orphans' scene as an easy way to make us sympathize with these soldiers, but that doesn't seem to be the case here, in fact it just makes them look even more pathetic, trying to hold onto some sort of moral high ground. The icing on the cake is having those same orphans tell them to fuck off. Wouldn't mind seeing some of the team die.

Kind of looking forward to what they do with this.

Thinking about it: I hope this doesn't turn into some kind of Stockholm syndrome thing where they kidnap the Princess, and all of a sudden she wants to side with them, or something along those lines. I'd much rather they keep it morally gray and complicated.

Stella will kill you make no bones about it. I am wondering how the story arcs for and Stella and Yuki are going to cross (I am presuming that they will meet).

This show is definitely proving to be better than I expected when I started watching, they killed off the stereotypical "I can do it just with determination and justice!" male lead last episode. And now we have a female character (Stella) who actually seems like a soldier. Well done.

I will not feel bad if Stella or any of those guys die.

I'm not sure who is the bad or good guys yet, but if an body touch the Loli then the riot will be real!

Damn. I really like this series so far. I like that they seems to have both sides perspectives of this war, and also touch upon the morality of war and such. I already like the characters of this side, especially the commander and Stella (her character design, personality and of course Hayamin voice XD). Heck, I maybe rooted more for the characters on this Empire side in near future (that Princess is cute and all, but yeah, that's all so far for me)

I wish it will be really good till the end (or at least decent), and will be a series where people would call it as underrated.

So Stella will be the ice queen of the season, I think her past must have been very hard and cruel to become the person she is now.
Gail seems to be the most "human" of the squadron, since he seems to have a weak side for children, that's a guaranteed death flag.
We can say that the war is for Stella a way to forget or overcome the pain of her loss and if she does not care what the orphans told her it is clear to me that she will not hesitate to kill Yuuki, in fact she says that as long is a order she will do it.
This anime has turned out to be a surprise that has pleased me enough, I feel that each episode will be something sudden or very drastic.
I feel that showing the weak side of Gail means that they want us to become attached to Stella's squad, but I think it will be difficult to achieve, personally Gail is the most decent within the squadron, then it would be Lily who may be the youngest of the group, but with Stella it will be difficult to get attached, at least until they show us why she became the ice soldier who always smiles.

What an interesting turn this anime has done. It felt like I was watching a totally different anime. I'm still curious about what happened after episode 2 with that scream of Princess Yuki.

Liked this episode the best so far. They didn't hold anything back in the accomplishment of that night mission, which was a bit refreshing. It really is kill or be killed.

Stella definitely has a few screws loose, or has insulated herself from her emotions very well. I did not expect her to turn her gun on Lana either.

We seem to be getting more information that this war is simply one over a limited amount of resources and not out of political differences (so far). But it could still use some more information in general so that we are able to have a bit more understanding instead of just these bits and pieces when it is needed to advance to the next story event..

This anime is pretty relentless on the prospect of war, it shows you exactly what this is.

Stella is far gone it seems, there was a moment where she could bond with Lana but the cold truth set in once the order from the big guys came in. You fight a war and need to kill to protect your country's well-being. I feel bad for the kids but i'm happy that they didn't get killed due to the old man making sure they get out. Even though the kids got to realize the truth this way that these people are responsible for the deaths of their parents :/

She might snap at some point, i hope she gets to meet the princess before that. They both had their share of loss and maybe can work something out together.

Ok, so maybe my interpretation of what Stella's character was supposed to be was a bit off. That girl is fucking broken.

Also, as far as I'm concerned the rebels just seem completely irredeemable at this point.

This show has become so much darker since the first episode. Not at all what I expected.

Right now I just want Stella and her squad to die but if the OP is anything to go by then it looks like she and then princess will somehow become friends.

I really liked the last scene with the orphans when they screamed murderers at them. I felt the same thing.

This show is severely underrated wtf. People that only watched 1 episode have been unfair. I can't wait to see how Stella grows. The entire squad seems so cruel right now. I understand their angle. They're struggling to survive, but taking from others isn't right. I'm really excited to see to see where this goes. This might be the first anime in awhile that actually has a decent message to tell.

I think this episode was better and we got to see Stella who smiles a lot by the way. I wonder what's behind that smile, she seems like those characters that carry their orders no matter what but underneath they have great compassion. I'm hoping to see more of her from now on since anyways the show is based on her and Yuuki.

But those kids really despise her and the commander though, even though they saved them. I get their resentment though, would've probably reacted the same way they did.

Rather than resource, all i can see is the empire inability to research for better agriculture technology. Resulting their egoistical thinking of using military means to rob others from their resources that they worked for.

War can be stupid, imo, because it can drive people with good intentions against each other, and be viewed by each other in very tainted images.

But alas, war is usually unavoidable in the known history of civilization, both in real life and in fiction.

I like how we get to see what is happening with both sides during this war.

Destroying a major supply line of food, yeah that will definitely make a huge difference plus they got what they wanted in the process.

They are still human after all so no surprise they saved the children.

Stella is a bit broken though, I don't think it's possible to understand what's going on inside that head of hers.

It's only 1 episode featuring them and you expected they give all the reasons to like them lul.

Anyway, like I've commented above, I already like that commander guy that seems still have humanity and only doing 'bad' things because of orders from his superior. They even mentioned that he's from other units before that deal with terrorist and such but then transferred to their unit. I guess maybe he disobey some cruel orders before that he ended up being in this unit.

And for Stella, a dead inside, cold cute female character is my type afterall, and really have a room for development where she'll be more humane again, presumably after she meet that princess.

The show is surprisingly trying to be mature or let's say more subtle than one would think.

War is not a game --- > best friend dies.

You want to save children --- > but it's you or one of your comrades who killed their parents

Fighting military dictatorship --- > on the other side you have a monarchy and it's the military who took initiative without informing the princess --- > it is also a military dictatorship

The bad guys try to steal new technology --- > the good guys don't want to share their technology with the other poorest side.

the commander Gail Owens seems like a nice guy --- > he is fighting for the aggressor.

I'm really curious to see if the show will try to keep this shade of grey until the end, but it's rare to be shown the two sides of a war, above all with both sides having some kind of morals.

Well this was a suprice, form a loli princess and hers knights in Mechs to the dark side of a war in 3 episodes. This might be the biggest surprise of the season if they will keep that darker more mature part.

The old squad leader who saved the orphans get my respect. Although I think Stella might already be partially insane from everything she experienced in the war. Still, they did good saving those kids. And they are kind enough not to shoot when the kids threw insults at them.

The only one I disiliked this episode is the guy who got jealous because Soleil had better quality items. It's not the duty of your neighbor kingdom to share things to your lower technology empire.

Looking forward to next week.

Anyone also enjoyed the music. It is kinda different and I like it.

This episode was intense. For a moment, I thought 'Goblin Slayer like?', but it just introduced other side's characters. Also I liked the old-man, he looked most reasonable one. And Stella, if that girl with the baby doll could kill her one day or Stella was killed while saving the girl. I would laugh.

Wow... I just can't feel for the Empire. Yeah, they need resources so they are going to war to get them, it makes sense, but when you weight it against the previous rulers of the kingdom dying while researching technology to get more energy to create more food, those bastards just want to take the hard earned work of the kingdom.

I can understand the position the Empire soldiers are at, but with such bastards as their higher ups I just can't root for the Empire.

The empire reminds me sort of Soviet Russia. Lower tech than their opponents, but seems to be much more numerous.

I also see the empire as the bad guys here. Neighbor does not wish to share tech, so then you go war and kill them? Lazy bastards do not want to develop their own tech. However, there are good people among the empire's soldiers, that old man not letting the kids be blown up still retains some humanity.. and also Stella because she made sure the kids would be saved by scaring them with her gun.

Yeah, I would be enraged too in that situation. Although it would take some balls to shout insults at enemy soldiers who have guns. I guess the kids were not scared because they are very angry at that moment.

We don't know yet how it is to live on the empire's side and why they couldn't develop the same food technology as on soleil's side but imagine that your family is starving and you know your neighbor has a way to save your family but doesn't do anything. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't sit down and wait to die.

I wonder if they'll show us something like that actually. It's hard to believe they show us someone "nice" like the commander of the unit without giving us later a proper reason he has to fight for the empire.
