A pretty good episode. I really liked how they handled the change of the atmosphere. It is a solid adaptation so far, but I am worried about the possibility of rushing it towards the end in order to cover more chapters.

I actually counted the chapters and the remaining episodes we have left.
We have 7 more episodes and 14 more chapters. They can fit all of them in easy.

Though I think I would like it more if they adapt chapter 19 into one whole episode

Oh I see. I hope the rest of the adaptation is just as good and they don't ruin it somehow. And I definitely agree with you about chapter 19.

Naho is seriously pissing me off. I hate her character so much. She has no backbone at all.

Kakeru: For me... Among the three of you, I'd want to ask you out, Naho.
Naho: By the way, who was the person you were interested in?
Kakeru: Right now "I'm not interested" in her. I've managed to get a bit farther... Now I'm "in love" with her.
Naho: I see. He's in love.

*Facepalm* For God's sake Naho, put two and two together.

Ending wasn't really surprising at all.

Dang that this turned psychological real quick. Man, I still find it absurd that the future Naho wouldn't clearly tell her past self the consequences of Kakeru walking back with them on the first day. I am trying to overlook it, but it sticks out like a thorn.

WHAT? That end oO Did Suwa get a letter from his future self, too? Don't tell me they all got one >.> I mean it would explain a few things(not like anything didn't make sense but if they knew about it then it's obvious why their timing was this good. For example when Suwa stopped Naho at the stairs and sent her after Kakeru or when they stopped that bitch at the pool).

That was my exact thought xD What is she even thinking. It is a surprise her future self didn't mention it in the letter considering the entire group is trying to set them up anyway.

edit: DAMN! Now I kinda regret watching it xD I can't wait an entire week to find out what happens next D: I should have stopped after I watched ep5 today >.> I really didn't expect a turnaround like that after those previous 5 episodes(never thought there might happen anything that gets me hyped for the next ep so much).

Best episode so far. What a plot.

So Suwa got a letter too. Possibilities to forestall Kakerus' destiny increase. Even though why did not future Naho tell to her self-past the true reasons behind the first day and not asking him out?

Wondering also if everyone received a letter in their past world.

And I also want Hagita and the blonde friend of the group getting together.

This anime just gets better and better. Suwa is such a great character. Shocking to hear Kakeru's mom killed herself, I expected it with Kakeru though. Wonder how the story will turn now after that ending.

Excellent episode again, 2 chapters adapted and looks like they'll keep this pace for the rest of the season...

Orange was originally a 25 episode anime adaptation, but just as I was checking off episode 6 on my anime list I noticed that the total number of episodes have been cut down to half. At first, it pissed me off coz the manga finishes with 25 chapters, but if each episode is going to animate 2 chapters, then the ending should be as it was in the manga and not be a big disappointment :)

Great episode. Orange has the potential to be become one of my favourite shoujos. btw was really surprised to hear that Suwa got letters. But that means if Suwa has letters from future!Suwa then the others must too. Cool.

P.S: I wish Taka and Azu had a little more screentime tho. Like, more than being the background best friends, because they're so cute individually >.<

Orange is actually 22 chapters long and I don't remember them announcing it as a 2 cour anime in the beginning. In fact I expected it to be only 1 cour since there are only 22 chapters and even if they adapt 1 chapter/1 episode pacing we'd only have 22 episodes. Also if you count up 2 chapters for each episode from now on, You'll find episode 13 ends exactly at chapter 22 so the ending should be the same as the manga, No worries there. :D
Probably the only issue might be that they have to skip out some dialogues in the chapters since they have to fit 2 chapters in 1 episode as each Orange chapter is like 40+ pages.

I began to have suspicions that Suwa was receiving some guidance somehow since last episode. His tears for Naho's thanks and appreciation for what he's done so far really did seal the deal. It felt like he was giving up with the greatest sadness on something that he knew would happen in the future (his future with Naho) for the sake of the greater good (that Kakeru would be with them in a future with no regrets).

This and last episode pretty much cemented that Suwa was already in love with Naho before he decided to give her up, and that Kakeru had been holding back because he actually knew about this. The way Suwa was pushing for Kakeru to make the moves on Naho against his own desires really shone through, and raised my suspicions that he too knew something was amiss in the future. No one in their right mind would choose to give up on their first love just because a mysterious letter tells them to. Not unless you're a true Bro.

You really gotta applaud him for it.

That said I have to wonder just how much of the future Suwa revealed to his past self. You gotta wonder if he would do the same if the letter told him specifically that he would be married and have a kid with his love interest in the future. Still, as of this moment his selfless actions have my approval.

Well, that was quite a plot twist I believe, and I think it came just in time, the story was too focused on Naho, so having another character to help her in this bizarre incident is quite logical I believe.

The feels are strong now, quite heartbreaking to see why Kakeru's feeling guilty, it's very sad... but I like sad stories.

My big salutes for Hagita!

I guess this is why I hate shoujo anime/manga at times. Main heroines never have fucking common sense.

-doesn't even look at the content of the boxes
-the bullies aren't even following her, so why actually bring them to w/e the fuck she was going? Be goddamn selfish for things like these. She could have just gone back to where she left them if she really did care about moving the boxes.
-still doesn't understand the fact that her own actions will change the damn future and not stay 100% aligned with the letter.
-also, all the damn heroines are always so blind to obvious romantic feelings from their crush. SO DAMN OBVIOUS.

Like, ugh. W/e. Obvious plot of the other getting letters is revealed. The question is if the other 3 will reveal too. It'd certainly make everything easier on them if they all knew about the contents of important events of each letter. /though I'd understand them wanting to hide their own letter's contents cause of romance shit

F*cking Ueda and pals. I'd like to see Taka-chan give her the fists.

Suicide runs in the family, I suppose.

Suwa has a letter too?! I didn't consider that factor at all...

So Suwa got a letter too? From his future self? I...don't care for the implications to this, but I'll reserve judgement until we get more details.

That aside, best-character Suwa continued his streak this week, first half Naho was obnoxiously meek against Ueda, and the lack of specifically mentioning Kakeru's mom's suicide in Future Naho's letter to herself, until AFTER it happens, continues to make absolutely no sense. But it's required for things to play out like this...weak writing. Oh, and the future scenes still aren't working for me.

you think if you received a letter from your future self that you wouldn't read it all the way through right away?

Good episode. Naho was really trying to help Kakeru this episode and even hit his soft spot about his mom and all, but it in the end it only makes him more guilty/and or even sadder. All she wants is to lift his burden- the poor girl. Really excited with the cliffhanger and Suwa having the notes and all. Kakeru seems to be his same self except he almost can't hide his emotions well enough; he's sad and hurt, but smiles to the end. I honestly can't say that I appreciated the use of still frames during the festival montage.. It kinda felt lazily animated. Roll the ed and cue the music cause it's time for some teenage angst/sadness. Next episode should be good. Oh.. I can't wait until we see the trigger that made Kakeru die, as it'll be very important. Romance was deep this episode and yes, yes everyone should adore the pool scene.

Naho pisses me off so much not because of her dense act towards romance, but because she's extremely intrusive. That's NOT how you deal with someone who's emotionally unstable, no wonder he just wanted to be left alone after that.

This was such a game changer, I did not expect for anyone else to get letters!
Now I wonder if the rest of the gang have or will receive one. Thou from everyone's actions, Suwa seems to be the only one.
To think that in the original story line he followed his heart to get the girl and once all grown up he would give it all up to save a friend.. makes me think, does he know that a change in the past would mean no future baby? Or because of parallel worlds his baby would be ok, but would be asking to sacrifice his other self's baby... I wonder if present/past Suwa knows what kind of future he's giving up...

And since Naho decided to get help, and Suwa was already in play to save him... it feels more likely that they will save him. If so, just makes me wonder what the new future would be like. I really want a happy ending for Suwa as well as the rest.

New episode is available right now since I waited a week to watch this one c:

God, that "who would you prefer to be confessed by" thing is so bold given their personalities, ESPECIALLY Naho's, I'm still amazed by it xD And they still can't believe that they like each other, SIGH.

Well, another thing is that I'm not able to understand how can you even prefer Kakeru instead of Suwa ;( He finally needs some attention, seriously.

So Kakeru is so close to his mom and one day he missed going to the hospital because of Naho & friends, then who to blame? if Naho and friends didn't persuade Kakeru on joining them on the entrance ceremony, would things go to a different direction?

Great episode! The ending left me quite in shock. This changes about everything. Now I understand why Suwa and everyone is were so helpful towards them. All those implications.

There is also this thing when she thinks it's her fault to not go by the letter during their first day but if she did it would also mean they won't be the friends with him at all. And his mother would probably killed herself some time later. He won't be more happy with this outcome.

I bet Naho won't throw her future child away as few people here are suggesting (well, that's also one of the point of the story - realization that she has happy life in the future, happy life she should protect, even thought she had to go through many hardships to make it to that point).

In the end, those letters serves just for erasing THEIR regrets, to make sure the did everything they could and it still wasn't enough but at least they tried.

Well, they may as well as to realize that erasing bad points in his life won't make him stronger, quite contrary as people learn valuable life lessons from their hardship and mistakes. The only thing they has to do is for him to accept that even though by the name Orange (bitter-sweet) this may be quite impossible in this series as the end won't probably change.
