Well, I can not say much, since I did not watch anime. But a brief study of the information on this franchise, left me with the impression that this is another otaku-targered game with cute girls and an invited yuri's writer for fanservice adaptation.

Anime only shown the founding of one band out of five that are available in the game. Admittedly general consensus say that even though their music is good the other band is more favored.

The art style on the game arguably one of the most important thing in gacha game is godly. Just look at here.

There is also the fact that they are really band and can perform live not just ad lib.

I won't say the anime do the franchise justice since at the end of the day it is just another part of the multimedia project. The strongest main part of franchise is on game and live stage.

Also you are discrediting something that you haven't seen too much as if you cannot apply the "fake lesbian" label on the show you are also quoting.

This is several old project and a lot of love are poured into character too.

Not that much of a drop from Vol.1 to Vol.2 compared to S1, considering Vol.1/2 of S1 also had event tickets. Or Vol.1 started lower than expected since it has added on almost 20k since week 1, compared to 17k for S1. It's still a huge decline regardless. The average will still hold up though as there are event tickets from Vol.3~6.

The sales is mostly based on the Game's popularity and live concert.
The anime is very obscure or few people watched it in Japan but the Game is very popular in Japan(currently ranked 20th in mobile game ranking on google play).
The same reason why glandblue fantasy sold 30k per volume

Yes, I mean the anime is hardly talked about among even anime community and poorly received among the Bandori players.

My guess is the "disc sales" would not be very different numbers without anime discs tbh.
