Regardless of a peril Gintoki is locked in, his priorities are always flawless.

Putting live action jokes aside (I absolutely loved Sadaharu's choice of an actor), it is a fine lead-in episode. A new antagonist makes his appearance, it also seems that there is an intense fight on the horizon. Despite the wishes of the Liberation Army's new leader, he is still playing right into the hands of Utsuro.

----------------------------------------

It seems like Enshou is creating Tendoshu soldiers that are using Altana to regenerate themselves, so they can win the war. That just means that Utsuro has an even stronger army supporting him. We also get a bit of Zenzou, since we don’t get much of him since the first episode of the FS arc. It seems like the Bafuku doesn’t have a suitable army to fight the war, and with the Shinsengumi disbanded, there’s no police force helping either. Man, Gintoki went straight in to attack Utsuro It seems like Gintoki can’t get a proper fight with Utsuro with all those Altana-powered soldiers. Next episode's gonna be hype!

either you just spoiled something or you got it wrong, enshou just collected heads of tendoshu who utsuro blew up. even if they regenerate they have no fighting skills, they were just old people sitting in their chairs all day.

i feel like watching gintama weekly is a mistake, a lot of minor things are mentioned now that will be important to the plot later on, and i'm gonna be confused as hell at some point.

i really didn't expect the war beginning them running into utsuro this early. the story is both slow paced and fast, i actually expected to be a bit boring in the beginning.

animation was great, i loved it when gintoki encountered utsuro. this makes an awesome binge watch, i really should wait for it to be finished..

About the animation and staff of the episode:
[img]https://i.imgur.com/QYMObiT.png[/ img]
The director and storyboarder of the episode was Enomoto Mamoru, who debuted at Gintama in Porori-hen, in the excellent episodes 332 and 339. I am happy to see him again in Gintama, he is a genius.
Masaki Tachihara is the writer again, as well as at 342 and 343, continues with a great job.

Animation directors:
Different from previous episodes, we had two animation directors
[img]https://i.imgur.com/Dma69BG.png[/ img]
Kenichi Shima (嶋 謙 一) (Half of 276, 298, 303, 314, 317, 323, 328, 331, 336)
Issei Hasegawa (長谷川 一生) (Half of 303, 312, 319, 324, 336)
[img]https://i.imgur.com/zjzLiuo.png[/ img]
The duo that produced Episode 336, which was OK in animation, made it even better. The episode was very consistent. This is surprising, as they both did Episode 303, one of the worst in SAA animation, in addition to the episode 312 that Issei did, which was also very weak. Kenichi proved to have improved on Episode 331, which was very good, and Issei did well this time, even though the end of the episode was less consistent, the animation remained good.

On the animators, I'm happy with the return of Miki Komuro (小 室 未来), who animated the fight of Kagura vs Kamui in episode 306 (https://www.sakugabooru.com/post/show/35369) and one of the scenes of Katsura vs. Shokaku. His scene in the episode was the fight between Nobume and some of Naraku's lackeys.

His way of drawing hair is very characteristic.

Another animator was Youhei Sasaki, who is expected to appear in several episodes this season.
He encouraged Yorozuya and Nobume vs Naraku (Best cut for me)

In my opinion, it was a very consistent and well done episode, for the third week, I clap for BNP and Gintama's staff.

thank you for putting this fight here frame by frame, this is awesome.

also, why naruko changes into zombies with just a few drops? a few makes you a zombie but a decent amount turns you into die hard?

The action starting seemed to take a slight toll on the animation - it did seem a lot less focused than the first two episodes with some more of the janky zoomed out shots. Hopefully the bigger fights get more polished, something along the lines of the Four Devas arc.

I thought the zoomed out "running while fighting" scene looked really good. It was very stylish and had a good amount of movement.

Oh no, the choreography was fantastic it's just that the angle felt a little awkward for me personally. This season is still going very strong (compared to Rakuyo, for example) in the animation department.

Ah, I can see what you mean by that. Let's hope they can keep this up! I agree that they are making a great effort so far this season

Is there a gif of when Gintoki sees Utsuro and he jumps in and attacks him?

Damn the scenes in this Episode are top-notch... Especially things went worse when the "zombies" turns up and the betrayal at the end...

Also the Live-Action jokes are pretty funny, would be hillarious if Van Damme actually voiced Sadaharu next time lol...

Last episode's epic negotiation is in vain. If it's a war they want, the Yorozuya and their allies will give them war!

Besides the fact that the first wave of the war is here, along with Utsuro's sudden appearance with Naraku, those flashback scenes from Kagura, Shinpachi and Otae is really nostalgic. I still remember those old days...

I lost it at this part in the manga. and the anime did a good job of adapting the return of the Shinsengumi.

Well I started out feeling sorry for Enshou, but that didn’t last long.
Live action jokes were funny, & Nobume was awesome as always.
Loved the conversation between Shinpachi & Otae at the gravesite, & between Kagura, Tama & Catherine.
Gintoki jumping in after Utsuro as soon as he saw him - wow! No hesitation on the part of our silver samurai! BAMF

Man, I feel sorry for Enshou losing his wife and baby but look what he did in the end. :( His wife and baby would be disappointed in him.

I'm liking Shijaku more now. He will no longer just be the admiral that shat his pants for me. He seems like a genuine and good-natured person.

LOL at the actor references: Oguri Shun, Kuriyama Chiaki and I was NOT expecting Sadaharu to suggest Jean-Claude Van Damme of all people to play him. He's so cute, I love him.

This episode was pretty bloody in a non-comedic way so the action is beginning. I'm glad to see Utsuro again because that means we'll get more action with the comedy.

What can I say, the army is doing the same thing then, just using Earth and it's people as a vessel for their hatred. Didn't expect Shoyo and Gin to face each other this early on though, it's looking very interesting.

The plot thickens in this episode. Honestly didn't expect them to encounter Utsuro this early. The situation has gotten quite worse with the Naraku turned into 'zombies' and an all out war starting. Loved the nostalgic atmosphere in the middle with Otae, Shinpachi and Kagura.

It seems the serious parts are going to start now, also I love how this came full circle with Gin fighting the Amanto just like he did in the Joi War

Nobume is such a sight for sore eyes. I'm really liking that new outfit. That bit of skin exposed in the arms and legs is such a tease.

Utsuro's swastika hilt katana is so similar to Ichigo's. Did he stole that from him? lol That sword looks cool.

Enshou is sure going to be an interesting character, the immortal zombie's army thanks to the Altana is definitely OP.
And now it's already time for Gintoki to be confronted to Utsuro, wow.

Things are getting more serious and tension is keep rising!
Utsuro have created a whole army of immortals. Plus, Ensho is going to destroy Edo right now. The war is going to take place and no one can stop it right now!
This is what is want from a final arc!

I guess not everything will go smoothly. Utsuro made his appearance! Fortunately Nobume is here as well and I love it. This should be interesting, just have to wait for whenever Shinsengumi will make their appearance.

So it seems like the one who came with the plan to capture Earth was Enshou and not Shijaku. It's an interesting backstory but I have no idea why he wants to do this. And wow, that reveal was something. All of Tendoshu is already dead, kind of.

The jokes were also funny, poor Sadaharu, lol.
Come on man, where is that Noragami season 3 masterpiece. We want it, Bones!
