Hmm, new story arc. This time, we got a school festival at Kei's school.

I think this episode felt the most normal so far (at least in this show) and focused more on Haruki or rather her feelings towards Kei. This episode developed more relationship dynamics between Kei and Haruki which is something that is somewhat overdue now imo.

Seems Kei is in a bind and Sumire has started her game of chess.
This is turning out very interesting and i am looking forward to how things will turn out.
I wonder what Sumire is after.

Since main guy took care of dream world, that guy from the association is interested. That girl called him and calling herself the 2nd witch. She knows his plan according to her power, and wanting to prevent from calling main guy.

School festival time. Drama for the class, and he invited Yui-chan's character instead to check on the band his friend is in. He is going to do something about their threesome relations. Reset girl confessed to him that she doesn't like that girl.

So that girl met him because he investigates not for the association. She didn't expect another man, though. She doesn't stop him, though.

She's been instructing him, but she told them she doesn't tell him anything and that lady cannot tell she's lying... It's weird that they cannot reflect fast on the car accident.

Sumire is planning something and the guy from the Bureau is still fixated on his plan to wipe out abilities from Sakurada and it's personal for him. I wonder why. He did notice that Sumire was lying about not going to go against his plan. He isn't someone to be underestimated.

Finally, a bit of relationship development between Kei and Haruki. There was a bit of hint that Sumire is interested in Kei.

Poor Souma, it seriously sucks to be her, that scene where she's lying curled on the bed, apparently psychologically exhausted to the bone, made me really feel for her. It almost looks like she wants to die again out of hopelessness and despair, and it's just fucked up. And Kei keeps alternating between denial, obsession and being a jerk. Oh, and Haruki admits she's a hater bitch and wishes Souma didn't exist.

How the fuck does she send the messages? I'm quite baffled. She doesn't technically speak to Kei directly, that's why the ''lie detector'' didn't go off.

Also what was that accident? Kei couldn't turn to watch o.o

So Kagaya wants the abilities in Sakurada to disappear. Sumire wants that to happen too. It seems they are working together. He's doing it for personal reasons. Haruki admits she hates Sumire. That accident was weird. Kei and Haruki couldn't look at it.

I know right? I'm starting to feel really bad for her... knowing the future, but she knows her future is quite sad... I wonder what is going to happen... really fucked up material here

Really good and refreshing episode, compare to the last few ones.
Im also happy that we don't have that old man anymore (or at least for a while) because i really wanted to strangle him for his BS talks and reasoning and NO, im not gonna say his name!

The most interesting thing i got from this episode was the bureau guy's hand writing:

im curious, what does X and O mean?
Does O mean "fail" and X mean "success" or does O mean "not sure" and X mean "fail" or even some other combinations.

Misoras natural smile was cute and fits her better than the robot look.

Pretty nice episode, a lot is going on and I'm curious to learn what Sumire is trying to achieve with playing for both sides, but it rather seems like that she's at Keis side, since she's "lying" to the guys from the Bureau.

Kagayas ability can be used in different ways and I wonder what kind of ability prevented Misora and Kei to look at the scene of the accident or if it was due to the combination of a few abilities again.

So that dude in the fresh suit wants to get rid of all the abilities in Sakurada. I thought it was interesting how Soma said she wasn't going to interfere with his plans but then he marked it with an X, so I'm assuming that implies that Soma was lying. She seems kind of shady at the moment tbh, so I wouldn't be surprised if she has something up her sleeve. I'm also finding it suspicious how she's having Kei do all these odd jobs, clearly there's an ulterior motive.

The scene on the rooftop between Kei and Haruki was nice, and Haruki looked rather cute when she smiled.

In Japanese O typically means correct while X means incorrect. So I'm assuming the one marked with O is the truth while the one marked with X is a lie.

Alright, we've reached the point where the characters' allegiances are all over the place. The Director has a plan to eradicate all abilities from Sakurada, which he adjusts to include Soma's assistance. But wait, Soma is manipulating Kei for her own unrevealed goals, and as we all know, Kei will find a way to turn this to his advantage, possibly. Keeping track of all these plans within plans is gonna be a pain in the neck, and I don't know how will the show pull that off without losing viewer interest. Still, the premise is good enough to keep watching.

I see, tnx. Then the first one is obvious, but the 2ed getting an "incorrect" means he thinks Soma is not going to be a problem, or is she? I guess we have to w8 and see.

I'm pretty sure that him marking an X mark on the second question implies that he knows Sumire was lying and will in oppose him in the future.

He asked if she would hinder his plans, and she replied that she would not do anything, which was confirmed to be the truth by Sakuin. I believe the key in this statement is that Sumire said, "No, I won't do anything." This statement is pretty ambiguous and perfect for evading the lie detector ability, as even if she says she won't do anything to hinder his plan, that doesn't speak for Kei and Misora.

Anyhow this was a great episode, nice progression and definitely building up, but I can't really focus on any of that because I'm just so depressed about what Sumire is doing to herself. I feel so pained when watching her and I just want her to have a happy ending...

I'm pretty sure the O means that Soma answered yes to the first question and the X means that she answered no to the second (i.e. she said that she wouldn't hinder his plan).

Also, when and how did Urachi's ability change from fixing things (e.g. Kei's keychain when he first arrived in Sakurada) to memory cancellation?

Regarding how Kei receives Soma's messages, is it possible that she had Tomoki send them during a time that was erased by a reset, since he can't remember having sent them?

Misora is coming along so nicely man, I loved seeing the way she expressed herself and her emotions/thoughts in this episode and that rooftop scene was sweet

Sucks to be Kei though because honestly, I wouldn't be able to chose between both girls especially considering how it seems like Sumire is suffering all for his sake too

This new guy is hella interesting though and I'm honestly surprised that he's trying to erase abilities from the city altogether.....I kinda want to see it happen so that we can see how it'll affect Kei and Misora's relationship

So Sakurada at first is like an isolation place for all that possessed the "Ability", but now they're planning on getting it to become like any other "normal" city.
Haruki finally said what she really feel about Soma in front of Kei, been waiting that since last week.

It's probably bcoz she does truly not want to prevent the his plan as she said herself, she would love for the abilities to disappear too (coz that would an advantage for her against her love rival) and coz Sumire said "request" most likely she just wants to Kei to notice the plan and the intent would come from Kei

And dude, hints about her interest to Kei go way back from episode 1 and pretty much obvious that she likes him that time when they revived her

The messages are probably from way back even before the events of episode 1 and Kei's friend just forget about it, remember Kei and his friend playing basketball and his friend mentions Sumire's interested in Kei

Kei not being able to turn is probably the coz of the script

You guys are making it difficult and thinking to deep

O = yes
X = no

Now read the questions again with the answers

Note: remember he had the girl that determines truth and lies so them teaming up would have been impossible, Sumire can't lie to them, but since Sumire asked some "requests" the intent to prevent the guy's plan would probably come from Kei and that Sumire wants Kei to notice the plan

No, i double checked and it was definitely him. You know what i think? maybe he has a general cancellation ability, he can cancel his memories and in the past (ep10) he "canceled" the effect of breaking from the key chain.

That's likely the case but I'll stick with my views and hope.

Wow didn't even catch that that was Urachi back then. Like John_Max proposed, perhaps his ability isn't just to cancel out memories, but to cancel out things in general? So he could cancel out the breaking of the keychain? I'm not too sure on this one.

Wouldn't the reset also get rid of the messages though? People have been guessing that Sumire foresaw all of this and sent messages back before her first death. This one there are multiple possibilities at the moment and I'm not sure.

I'm getting bad vibes from this arc already.

We finally got to know that director's plan. But why those two follow him?
He's got an interesting ability. So we assume he pretty much knows what happened before all the resets.

But just one thing, wasn't his ability to fix things or something along those lines? He's the one who fixed the house keys for Kei at the station when the latter came wandering into the town during witch arc.

Sucks to be Soma :(
Haruki admits she's a bitch who hates Soma. But she doesn't how much Sumire's suffering. I wonder if she also plans to disappear once again at the end of the anime :(

Also, how did she communicate with Kei? Hope we get answer to that soon

Yeah, that's possible too

-past
-pre-reset
-future

No wonder even Kei couldn't figure it out how she sends those

And I just remembered, Kei's friend does speak before the messages, Sumire's message he doesn't. So it could also be possible for a different person since 2 people having the same ability is possible, like the 1st and 2nd witch

Also about that guy from bureau, could it be possible that his ability is neither fixing things nor memory cancellation just like he said, but rather cancelling things? If so he could cancel his memory and cancel Kei's key broken state. Just a guess though.

why the director's secretary unable to detect soma lie, isn't she the one instruct Kei to go to that scene? Soma seems to be torturing Kei I assume, forcing him to use Haruki reset ability? yes no?

Basically, Haruki finally confessed and her relationship with Kei progressed. A more calming episode than before, but it's very intriguing to watch Sumire interacting with Urachi. Is it just me, or the artwork seems sharper? Hmm.

Anyway, I should've commented about the previous episodes too (I did it in pieces in my twitter), but nah, let's let it slip away.

I want to drop my theory on why Sakuin can't detect lie on Sumire's words: It isn't that Sumire, sitting in the car seat, who sent the voice and instructions. I suspect that since she's Sumire in photo, so she doesn't actually experience deaths and all. Perhaps after the photo was taken, Sumire sent the voice for the future. So technically, she (the Sumire in the present) didn't send any instructions.

So it looks like the bureau is starting to get wise to Kei's plan then. I wonder did Souma's foresight allow her to see this turn of events and hense the need for a warning. Hmm a waiting period of a month before Souma wants to negotiate eh. To think that the bureau actually have a big plan that they are devising. Hmm this plan of the directors sure is ambitious thats for sure. Souma sure is bold in phoning the director just like that. So Kei and co at the moment are attending their schools cultural festival eh. Its nice to see Murase express concern for Kei and Haruki though. Its funny seeing Sera try and give romance advice to Haruki though. Hmm so Haruki is avoiding Kei because she thinks there's someone thats more suited to play his lover eh. Its to be expected that Souma's words about Haruki trying to break out of her shell to be closer to him would have that large of an effect on Kei. Its nice to see that Kei realizes that while Haruki has been actively trying to change their relationship he himself hasn't done anything. The message ability is always one ability that really stands out to me at how useful it is. Still im loving this new story arc though.

Its nice that Kei is finally taking the step to advance he and Haruki's relationship. Haruki isn't very good at lying or keeping secrets but its nice that she decided to come clean with her feelings towards Souma returning though. This helps in adding charm to Haruki's personality i think. While things between Kei and Haruki are progressing happily it looks like Souma's is the opposite. But its nice that Kei and Haruki have made clear their feelings though. Hmm so this plan of the directors is his own eh. Hmm so it seems that Masamune came prepared for this meeting eh. Masamune's ability sure is interesting in that it can negate both Souma and Haruki's abilities. To think that Souma actually shares the same goal as Masamune though. Hmm so this is still going according to Souma's plan eh. Looks like things are starting to move ahead into the finals then. Souma continues to intrigue me though with her moves.

  • I have seen - it's a possibility, but not necessarily the only one
  • I didn't tell him anything - subtly different from an order: as she did give no explanation

seems sumire souma the original is helping out kei from the after life hints are the messenger guy kei's best friend doesnt have memories of giving kei that message at the end of the episode and that sumire souma is helping kei despite saying she wouldnt to the villain and not wanting to help kei since she said she wants a world with no abilities

Lockman is more useful than i thought.
Bureauman is memory clearing, seemingly useless but specific against the witch.
Souma & Bureauman's personal goal aligns, but both have so much trickery & ability stacking who knows who's saying the truth. But it was surprising both revealing their abilities.
Kei did a vague confession, at least he notices Haruki & is moving forward.

watching this episode is like Soma Sumire is one of a hell genius in the series.

I was wonder why Kei and Haruki couldn't turn their head when the accident happened.

I see, so that's how the bureau knows Kei looking into the script even after Reset. it's because the notebook has been locked so Reset wouldn't affect it.

I feel bad for Sumire because of Kei action though.

Pretty interesting arc... but I just wonder - how could Soma lie about telling him to go there? Is she using some other method to contact him through his mind that can't be tracked (it had to do something with resets that's for sure). But the hell, her constant smirk on the face, I'm really intrigued, it seem like she had planned all beforehand.

I liked MC finally realized Misora feelings, although I hoped they would show their play too. Broken-hearted Soma was also harsh thing to see, let's hope she won't suicide again (although it's clear she DID suicide for them to get together).

It's only my wild hunch but there is a chance that Misora would be somehow able to reset whole city 40 years back and Soma is just preparing the situation all the time.

This series got really a lot better since the start. It's certainly not on par with Monogatari but it's good enough.

So did Souma suicide to get a "time skip" so she wouldn't have to sufferr waiting for the future to happen where she can move on?

Souma ma girl, if u never introduced Misora to Kei....

Not sure if the bureau guy is the same guy as the one in Kei's flashback, but if it was, his ability could just be a localised reset (i.e. return a particular thing to an earlier state).

My guess on her messages is that the dead Souma sent them.
The current revived Souma is counted as a different person, thus she is not doing anything to hinder the plan.

It finally feels like the show has found its pace.

The first arc was interesting and had a pretty good climax, but the second on third arcs were meh. The last arc, One Hand Eden, was the best the show had seen till now and this arc also has a very promising start. I'm hoping the long, slow and occasionally bad build-up will be all worth it. And it will, if this arc and the last one keep it up and provide a satisfying climax to the show.
