Very interesting episode. Futaba wanted to suicide personally so I don't know how to feel about Hitoe for the assist. I don't hate her, I just feel disgusted. Stuff like this makes me wonder who is the worst. Imo its Futaba. Good thing she is dead. After that, Hitoe and Minami are both equally dislikable. They are all humane though, this is what the show is great at.

And I still don't give a damn about Shoutarou. Sensei is a little too emotional about his students, he has some minor mental issues. Poor guy.

-Claymore- said:
So why is everyone calling him Shoutarou? I thought his name was Soutarou and Sakurako just calls him Shoutarou either because she doesn't want to say his name or its the name of the mysterious little boy that was apparently close to her.

Because it's his name? And that mysterious little boy was Sakurako's brother, and his name is Soutarou.

Ok so I had it backwards. But when did we learn that he was her brother?

The best episode so far in this series.

I'm glad this time they didn't relied too much in tons of boring exposition as in the previous episodes, and finally we know who that mysterious man is.

Now she's done it! Sakurako is real freak digging bones of the girl and showing them to her friends. She's literally taking pleasure in suffering of others. I hate this side of hers and the way this anime is glorifying that fact is just disgusting, nothing else.
And even other characters' reactions feels so unnatural sometimes.

Hm, and the end... that's exactly what you get when you deliberately provoke mentally unstable people.
This time Sakurako boasting and self-esteem made her responsible for everything. Too bad Shoutarou got stabbed instead of her.

btw - during the ending sequence.. that Sakurako's usage of famous Nietzsche's phrase totally missed its point.

Very true but the quote is usually misunderstood as it is, to the point it has now become the norm.

The only one I felt sorry for in this episode was the teacher. His breakdown was really emotional, kudos to Ishida-sensei.

This Hanabusa fellow seems to be poor cousin of Johan Libert, still has a way to go if he ever wishes to match him.

Oh boy ... very interesting episode! So Futaba actually wanted to die, and "forced" (in a way) Hitoe to assist her ... so it's debatable whether that's really suicide or if Hitoe just killed her I guess. Minami's definitely obsessed with Hanabusa, I guess that's how he operates - but in the flashback he has long black hair doesn't he? So what's this about him not having any hair anywhere? It seems like Sakurako's uncle was tracking him as well and he steals bones ... hmm, very interesting. Unfortunately the last bit was pretty dumb - the whole "stay away from me so you don't get hurt" thing is so overused. I guess she means well but that never works, and it just hurts her relationship with Shoutarou - I guess she didn't react well to him being stabbed, and I guess with her brother dying it's understandable
I wonder how they're going to wrap this up though? Are they gonna go after Hanabusa? I mean obviously Shoutarou's fine and it seems like the case was wrapped up too. There's only one episode left and at first I thought this arc would go until the last episode but I guess not ... well in any case, I hope they end strong :O

Also can anyone answer the question as to why she won't call him by his name? He seemed to understand when he said "so that's why you won't call me by my name" and Saurako said something along the lines of "that's right", right at the end there. But idk if the viewer was supposed to understand at that point or if that was supposed to be part of the cliffhanger for the next episode. Any reply/ discussion would be great.

She just explained that they had to cut ties. Shoutarou was saying "So that's why you won't call me by name" means that he thinks she was keeping him at a distance (emotionally) because she expected to cut ties with him eventually. However, even though she said "that's right", it was just so that Shoutarou would think so and not be hopeful. Her reaction afterwards shows that she actually did have attachment to him and she forced the words.

Everyone was high on adrenaline this episode...

Sakurako wasn't very smart this episode, provoking the girl... wasn't really surprised when someone got stabbed.

This probably won't get a second season. It would be dope as shit to find out Shoutarou is hanabusa or his son and hes been hanging around just to torment her. This last episode needs to be a head twister if there's no second season.

It still seems odd that from the moment she met him, she expected to cut ties with him eventually for some reason and so she decided not to call him by his name. That just doesn't quite add up for me especially since he's the only getting that special treatment. But now that i'm thinking about it, I think the reason might just be that his name is too close to Soutarou and maybe it causes unpleasant memories to resurface. Also was there ever any confirmation that the little boy (Soutarou) was her little brother?

Edit: nvm she said it was her brother in ep 3

Daaaaammnn that went off the deep end real fast, in a good way. The really sad and twisted story of the girls, Sakurako laughing at them (she's a dick, lol), Shoutarou getting stabbed, Minami going mental and getting committed.

Didn't think I'd be saying this because of a few of the past episodes, but I'm excited for the finale.

Come on, show. We all know they'll be reunited in the last episode. Fake drama.

We know every main character in almost every vanilla love stories ever would end up with the main girl, all those love triangles are fake drama.

We know Conan would eventually destroy the black organization, all those tensions with their underlings are fake drama.

We knew Harry Potter would eventually defeat Voldemort. All those trials and deaths along the way are fake drama.

We also knew the One Ring would be destroyed and Sauron defeated so really, what's the point of watching 10 hours worth of conflict over the ring?

Wow these girls are just crazy!!! It was a little too much on the drama side for me but overall it was pretty interesting, I'm liking this mini arc better than the somewhat stand alone episodes from before, Hanabusa is an interesting villain so I'm looking forward to see what happens. I do wish however that they won't focus on what happened in the ending here.

OK!! Normally I don't post anything because I busy (lazy), but I really need to because I am flipping my shit like crazy and I need to let my emotions out.

So I'm sitting here munching on Pringles (sour cream if you must know) and the regular stuff is happening. Shoutarou is being basic, Hector is being OP, Itsuki is unstable and Sakurako is getting turned on by bones. Until this turns into some dark ass schoolgirl slaughter (I know I exaggerate). Now this sparked no reaction out of me because I've seen Another, School Days, and most of Neon Genesis Evangelion so I'm immortal when shit goes down. There's just one thing you can't do: kill the protagonist. Not only did it seem like they were going to kill bae (Sakurako) but they connected with the main protagonist's abdomen. Let me explain why I thought he died:

1. He had severe bags under his eyes. Like not just normal bags. The were the "I was procrasinating and fucking around all semester and I have finals so I'm gonna pull an all nighter and study for like 10 hours straight" bags (#CollegeStruggle)

2. He was pouring out blood so much that the every single one of the Cullens from Twilight would've orgasmed at the exact same time just from the sight of all of that blood (Sorry for the Twilight reference but it was necessary.)

So I was like no... please no. And then they showed him at the hospital smiling like an idiot and Iwas like "Phew!"

I haven't been this excited for a new episode in a long, long time.

man couldn't we continue this as a simple mystery anime? where did all this drama come from suddenly >.< Not that I didn't enjoy the past two episodes but story of the three girls seemed so forced and sometimes was really obvious (I mean come on. how do you get those marks on your hands when you try to save someone from hanging himself. you wouldn't really touch the rope in that situation but try to lift the body high enough).

I'm curious how they are going to make the connection between this murderer and the previous cases (which she mentioned at the end). This also came a little bit sudden but if it is done well I could go with it. And who seriously beliefs those two will cut ties now. This is really standard. There is no way they won't see each other at least once in the final episode.

And what's up with those three friends. LOL, who wants to kill themselves when they are happy. And who ask to be strangled or I will strangle you. These three girls really needs help. Especially the one with red hair. Anyone that mess with my sensei get stabbed. Don't offend sensei!!

You're all missing the point here. Sakurako does not take pleasure in other people's misery, she just "likes bones" and is simply ignorant that those same bones cause suffering to others. Similarly her act was not "intimidating and careless", it was simply void of any tact. She was completely unaware of this, hence she turned her back on the girl so easily. She doesn't understand at all how her "act" was perceived.

I really hate it when anime do this thing where someone important is about to take a lethal hit, then scrawny boy jumps in the middle and takes the hit for them. It would have been much more interesting were it that Sakurako was stabbed.

That is my only complaint about this episode, because the rest was fascinating, intense, and bloody morbid. Proooobably not my favorite episode, but it's certainly one of them. I kind of get the feeling I should rewatch this, or at least skim the early episodes, to understand the connection between Hanabusa and the other cases, because I only remember the connection between him and the guy who thought his family was cursed.

And once again I must echo the thoughts that there's positively no way this will get a satisfying conclusion with only one episode left. There better dang well be another season.

Edit: It just came to my attention the source novel is still publishing, which pretty much confirms this won't be wrapped up in the finale. Unfortunately, I can't see this being the type of anime to get a second season either. #rip

Good to see the recent girl who disappeared be alive, but pretty fucked up that she killed her, and the other best friend tried to literally cover it up. That's a legitimate crime right there. In fact, they're all damn criminals. I wanted to punch all the girls in the face for being so stupid, especially the moment that girl started babbling about Hanabusa being an angel, even more so when she became an attempted murderer trying to stab Sakurako. And no hair? Human instinct should tell you people with no eyebrows are the least trust-worthy people by nature! Just look up pictures of anyone with no eyebrows or celebrities with eyebrows photoshopeed out, and it should look creepy as fuck. "Cleansed" her? I'm going to assume that sick sonuvabitch Hanabusa fucked the dumb bitch as well. That painter guy is guilty of brainwashing, mutilation (of both alive and dead people), drugging girls (and several other people) for the sole purpose of having them die for him so he can rob the sphenoids from their dead bodies. Everyone of them deserved to rot in jail, but looks like only Minami is in some kind of psych ward.

One more episode...I hope when Shoutarou gets out of hospital, he finds the mastermind piece of shit, and puts him in the ground before anyone else does. With a show like this, I don't think it's going to get a second season, so I'd like to see it more or less have some closure next episode.

Depending on the last episode this might contend with Death Parade for show of the year, what a brilliantly chilling episode. Excellently well done series, even if some things are a bit predictable the ride it takes you on to get there certainly is not, the brilliant twists bringing you along and the stellar execution of even what you find inevitable are so wonderfully well executed its almost like you didn't expected at all. Really want a season 2 and to start reading this series after.
Are you serious? I'm afraid of what type of shows they're airing thesebdays if shitshows like Sakurako are consided best of the year material.
The twists are garbage. They're just making it up along the way.

last episode: Sakurako is in trouble and her fiance saves her (hopefully not next season)?

This episode reminded of the movie Suicide Club and those suicide pacts that were very common in both Japan and South Korea a long time ago. I'm not sure if people still have suicide clubs or pacts but I'm pretty sure it still exists.

Isozaki really cares about his students and is regretful that he couldn't help them. Not many teachers care that much.

Sakurako-san has a mouth that runs off and will get her eventually stabbed, if Shoutarou wasn't there she would've been dead.

Sakurako... the dog whisperer. Gotta love Hector. And he's soooooo pretty :).

This episode was definitely darker than the others. A bit too cliché for me though.

However I really liked the image where the "3 sisters" were having fun with fireworks and then one of them suggested to immortalize the moment by taking their lives.

In a sense, I thought there was something beautiful about it, but in a sad & chilling way.

As for sensei, I was really baffled by his reaction in regard to the girls' fragile states. I liked, how in a former episode he thought & believed the woman in yukata (with the ring) at the festival, was free to choose about her divine right to live or die.

He was very cool, rather detached and rational about it. Yet, when it came to his pupils, he was very, very emotional (in a rather freakish way, like a totally different person).

Am I the only one who thought that was awkward? I expected some remorse from him for not stepping in sooner, but I found his reaction rather out of character for him (?)

And as for the Sphenoider... urgh. The way he carved one of the girls backs... omg. I guess he left her a little memento. Meh. Pretty disturbing. That girl's scarred for life.

And darn that Sakurako. She was so blunt & a tad bit arrogant this episode! (not that I mind, just an observation).

No wonder she almost got stabbed. That's what happens when you push an emotionally unstable girl by telling her the truth in such a harsh way.

And of course Shotaro stepped in *sigh*. I'm glad he survived. I like that character :).

Well let's see how it ends! Perhaps there'll be another season? There has to be. I'd like to see more of the Sphenoider.

I had completely forgotten about that! I agree! I felt bad for the dog. That was so chilling, the way he lied there next to her on the bed.

Had I been the one lying on the bed, I would've rolled off in a shocked state (upon seeing the lifeless dog, that is).

Everyone in this episode was all kinds of fucked up. The truth behind this serial killer was pretty haunting, to think the butterfly was a reference to the bones he was collecting from damaged people. The way he utilizes his victims reminds me of Red John from The Mentalist. I got the feeling he intentionally left that tool on the ground for Minami the moment she stumbled onto it.
