Three points in the anime I found not to my liking:

- Migi's return to Shinichi could've been better explained or thought-out.
- Shinichi's sudden decision to kill Gotou. I'd prefer it if he let him to his chances of survival instead and if Gotou died as a result of that.
- Migi going to hibernation likely forever. It's too bad we don't get to see the main characters coexist in the end.

Despite that, this show was very enjoyable and interesting. The production was pretty neat and the story was certainly given thought. I found myself feeling eager to watch every episode, thrilled during many parts of the show and simply feeling good throughout it. I hope they find more jewels like this to animate in the near future.

Props to the anime team and the author.

Awesome soundtrack is the best thing about this show. First half of it was great, but the last was pretty average. The main thing I disliked is how amazingly preachy the show became in the later episodes. Overall 6 or 7/10 for OST.

I really love shows that are rather thought provoking, the last show i watched that gave me such chills about a provoking subject was Shinsekai yori, in fact up until about episode 12 i was prepared to give this one a 10 as well....I just don't get what went wrong....this episode for example, when he failed to catch Murano, I haven't had a "holy fucking shit this just happened" moment since like the first half....and that truly is disappointing...and then it got voided anyway by him miraculously saving her....

I also don't understand the amount of screen time Murano got, considering she influences absolutely nothing in the plot. Her character was just limited to saying the three words: You have changed, practically the whole show. For a supporting character, whom if you went off screen time alone, could be considered the main supporting character.... to be included into so many scenes, like the one with Reiko getting shot and then dies, I just thought wow....another scene in which she's included, make it seem like she's gonna actually do something to justify having her be in that park in the first place but in the end, doesn't do anything...take her out, and nothing changes at all. It just made zero sense to me.

I think you can infer from the show alot of the "would be plotholes", so I don't really mind it.

Hell i don't really mind the Murano part, I'm just standing here like, the first half was just amazing, why did the second half just have to disappoint me? Loved the Parasite factor the show had, ah well...sometime tonight I'm sure I'll come to the conclusion on just what to give the show....

Migi = True Hero

Except Migi isn't a hero.

The Murano rescue scene just distills what the characters have been doing all along:

Migi is again only acting in his own self interest by rescuing Murano and keeping Shinichi emotionally healthy and therefore he keeps his own self healthy.

Shinichi anthropomorphizes Migi's actions, i.e. imposes human motivations on Migi which aren't really there, and thinks that Migi has helped him because he likes him.

Which he doesn't because the only thing that Migi "likes" is his own survival.
The migi you met in the beginning is not the same migi you meet at the end of the series, if he really cared about his own survival then he wouldn't have attempted to sacrifice himself when he fought Gotou, and said all those things prior to his near-death experience.

The Uragami situation would have been much better served as an event that took place before the finale. I get what they were trying to do, but making this the "final stage" was just so laughably disengaging. The only plus I see from this is how it shows that even with the absence of the parasites, the blood baths continue and nothing really changes whether they're present or not.

I don't dislike Murano, but I really felt nothing from her speech and dilemma this episode. There just wasn't enough of her character present throughout the series to make her opinion...well...worthwhile. I'm just glad they didn't kill her, because that would have taken an already forced situation and turned it into complete nonsense. I didn't mind this otherwise uneventful episode though. It did bring up some interesting points about life as a global community on Earth, but once again some of the ideas felt out of place and there wasn't really a clear connection between the events that took place and the preachy messages.

Well at this point there's really nothing else I can say that I haven't already mentioned before. Parasyte had a fantastic start but really plummeted after the first half of the show. The second portion wasted the potential that the first built up and lost sight of the direction it was taking itself in. It felt as though they started focusing on the parasites' perspective too much and it lost the psychological suspense that came with Shinichi's descent into madness. There were also many moments where the characters started to feel inconsistent, particularly Migi's friendship speech and Murano randomly deciding to attend the booty call. Rather than disappointing, it's just a shame that it lost so much of its flare and never really recovered.

Sitting at a stable 8/10, it's a bit sad that the show I was looking forward to each week has me sighing with relief now that it's over.

There's so many questions about the Parasyte that IMO went unanswered.

And there are definitely some Deus Ex Machina moments, especially with Gotou and here at the very finale.

STILL, this was VERY entertaining.

This anime is the definition of 8/10

I'll definitely miss Migi.

In the end, we still don't know anything about parasites. Don't tell me "they are just lifeforms and they don't need a reason to exist" bullshit. Lifeforms have reproductive capabilities that these parasites don't have. Without it thousands of individuals of the same form cannot exist at the same time. Are they evolved at the same time? It's bullshit. Look at the real world, how many living beings are there that can't reproduce ? You may think of this as a plothole but I think the creator has really thought they were created by some human and just didn't mention it in the manga like some people said here.

For me this show has too many flaws. Humans acting irrational (Gotou car hit scene for example) and Deus Ex Machina Gotou fight. I still rate it 6/10 because I enjoyed watching some parts of it and can't say it's completely garbage. But it could be much better tbh.

Man, it sure feels great to finish this after going through the hot pile of garbage that was the Tokyo Ghoul series. While Parasyte can certainly be rough around the edges here and there, it still baffles me how well the story holds up today despite being written way back in the late 80's. Of course, I'm mainly talking about manga/anime works but even nowadays, there are plenty of mangakas out there that are trying to imitate this formula yet fails to capture its essence of what makes a good and satisfying thriller. Hats off to you, Mr. Iwaaki, as well as Madhouse for the adaptation.

All the episodes of this series felt very short to me. Maybe because I was enjoying it a lot or that it was directed well. It's sad to see this show go.

I personally liked the look of Murano at the beginning of the show. Always blushing, sweet voice and cute hair.

Migi! What can be said. True hero. Though I think it developed way too quick towards the end. Parasites magically disappeared and Migi also feeling hes not useful or something anymore.

The ending didn't feel like one. Though I'm glad Migi and Shinichi saved Murano.

A faithful adaptation of the manga...which means the ending also left me unsatisfied. I have always wanted to know more about the origin of parasytes, which I initially thought would be a major plot point.

It started off better than it ended but overall this is a well executed show with neat action and a great OST. I enjoyed it a lot :)

8/10.

8/10

I hope they never decide to cash in on its success and decide to make 2nd season with some subpar plot, this ending is good enough.
When I saw the plot of the series I thought it's going to be something childish or classic hero-fights-bad-guys, but boy was I wrong. Really glad I decided to watch it.

Last episode 9/10- There was some things that I wanted to know such as more about the killer and the parasites themselves. A bitter sweet ending, it reminds me of how I felt when Hunter x Hunter ended.
Series 10/10- I feel like it's a 9, but out of enjoyment and entertainment I'll give it a 10. I really enjoyed the writing and the characters.
To be honest Murano was very annoying at some points, but I would have been so heart broken if she died at that moment. I don't think it would have had the same effect on me if she was killed by a parasite because many were killed by parasites already. My thoughts were "She died from falling off a building. OF ALL THINGS. Migi fell asleep and he couldn't grab her, how convenient". I feel relieved; I'm pretty satisfied with the ending. Already one of my favorites.

Ouch, didn't like the ending.
Also I didn't get it, wasn't Shinichi still like 30% superman due to Migi's dormant cells? How the fuck did he get tired from running up the stairs?
Unless of course he lost the cells when Migi went into hybernation, which is highly unlikely considering Migi has no control over them, and Shinichi still had the cells after Migi "died" in the forest. Did he like, forget he's a fucking x-man?

At least this episode had more money spent on it than most of the rest and didn't look as low budget gaudy as 23 did, but my god: the entire first half of the episode played out in Shinichi's head. Half a conversation that could have occurred just as easily outside of dreamworld. The other half preachy obviousness about life. SAVE ME FROM INTERNAL MONOLOGUES, ARRRGGHHH. By the end of the series, the self-talky obviousness drove me mad. Some things are best left unsaid or open to interpretation. This show broke the rule of 'show; don't tell', then shoved the rule up my arse for good measure.

That aside, there was no ending. None whatsoever. Migi decided to go to sleep, just like I wanted to, and parasites are a normal part of life and should be left to do their own thing. Or something. WHAT WAS THE POINT OF ALL THAT FIGHTING THEN!? The series may as well have ended when it started. Same result, just less time wasted.

...OH WELL. This series had Migi, if nothing else. I like Migi. He was the best part of the manga and, shockingly, also the best part of the anime. Better yet, Aya Hirano voiced 'him'. There's a whole lot of fucked up potential in Aya Hirano as a talking hand...

"Weren't there a few parasytes that decided to go against the stream and decided to kill humans for fun and pleasure"
"Why did Migi decide to not come out again?"

1. Kind of briefly explained in the show, but it seems to imply they were somehow originated on Earth. Regardless if this is actually true or not, the theme of the show kind of overlaps on this that it's supposed to not matter.
2. Because the remaining ones were probably more intent on actually surviving and decided to forego a diet of humans. In that sense, they are probably now no different from humans.
3. They most likely got hunted down and killed very quickly.
4. It is explained that Migi's integration with Gotou altered his physical composition that is, his cells after experiencing a deep and pleasant state of unconsciousness. The basis is that it forced him to enter a deep sleep.

I feel like the point of many seinen themed shows such as Gantz, Btooom, or a story like this, is really to show the personal growth of the main character rather than a character just 'leveling' up his power level.
Thus why you get all the internal monologue to show how all that fighting and death affected his viewpoint of the world. Consider how much Shinichi has changed from being a normal highschooler to where he is now.

I felt like the message of this show was clarified very well from the second to last episode. 10/10 very good adaptation
