The problem is Akiho AND Kaito are both annoying - They are a pair of direct opposites and annoying in opposite ways: Akiho is way too enthusiastic often without sparing enough thought before acting on something; but then Kaito is way too unenthusiastic that he only sits there and plays games, and pours cold water for any idea. It is just that at least for Kaito, we see him secretly helps out for Akiho and despite his indifferent attitude allows Subaru to beat him at game so that he becomes the robot pilot. That said, it still does not change my thought that I find it hard to bear Kaito's speaking style and apparent attitude (at least before he goes to help from behind the scene).

Actually I should have mentioned that as well. I understand that their personalities are explainable, and in time events will indue changes in them including their attitudes and character. It is just that for 4 episodes so far, we are still enduring the overly un/enthusiastic style and I just wanted to state that it is natural to feel annoyed about that.

I thought the Akiho seeing 5 min in 1 and Kaito seeing 1 min in 5 only happens when the syndrome strikes (so far we have seen it once for both Akiho and Kaito) ? I would have thought that in their daily life, they are not seeing 5/1 min in 1/5.. Perhaps you mean that the experience they went through when the syndrome struck conditioned their personalities and so even when they see time as other people do when they are normal, their behavior is still affected by the syndrome?

This also explains Kaito's behavior. Stress triggers an attack, so he is trying to avoid stress. This is why he doesn't want to get involved in things, at the same time Akiho's hyperactivity is more likely to create stressful situations, so he is going out of his way to calm her down. This is why he is usually a wet blanket for her. He wants to help, but he has to do it in measured doses, otherwise she cannot help but to get too wound up.

If you think about it, Akiho's condition is much worse than Kaito's being sped up is far worse than being slowed down, it is far more damaging to the body (heart, lungs, etc), and this should mean that she could enter a terminal state much sooner than Kaito. This is why Kaito is so scared. I also think Akiho understands this as well, which is why it is feeding her frenzy. She either knows or feels that her time is limited and wants to do something before she can no longer do anything.
