| I'd give Anthy a chance since she's nothing you can piece together right away. The tablecloth scene was epic win as was everything that proceeded after she ditched that crappy dress. Of course I'm biased because I LOVE this anime. |
| In the last episode I spent a lot of time thinking about the color on Saionji's eyes and in this episode I realized he has purple eyes and green hair while Anthy has green eyes and purple hair. They're also polar opposites astrologically. Made for each other, maybe, it's supposed to symbolize? I think it's funny that Touga introduces himself as a totally normal boy since I think his personality carries the negatives of men. Nanami is fierce! |

| Pretty fun so far. I am hoping so hard right now that Utena never gets with Touga unless he does a 180 with his personality. Otherwise, Utena is the bees knees. |

| I guess I'm one of the few that's enjoying this series so far. I personally think it's great so far, maybe not overly amazing but I'm certainly impressed. Especially Utena herself is incredibly awesome, I mean how many times can you say you've seen the girl be the Knight in Shining Armor? |

| Ok.. what? Utena was wearing a dress that clearly showed her shoulders and arms and then ripped it off and was wearing a jacket under it?? Did everyone else just ignore that? ahah That's just ridiculous. Not to mention the epic rose dress she made in 2 seconds with a tablecloth. I really want to like this show because I like the art style and its a classic series but the first 4 episodes have been really cheesy and predictable. If it takes 20-something more episodes to get good, I don't know if I'll have the patience for that. :/ I'll stick around a bit longer. |
| Strange anime so far. The art is pretty unique but the storyy hasn't exactly blown me away. Having said that, I've just heard too many positive reviews of it to drop at this point. Will give it at least 10 more chapters. |

| Utena has some serious skills - she changed out of that dress very quickly and the tablecloth bit was pretty impressive. Also, the episode trolled me a bit during that card game - I thought Utena was playing but instead it was ChuChu. |

| I can really relate to Himemiya because of her social anxiety. This is also the first time I remember seeing a female dark skinned character in an anime. |

| God, every character has their own hair color and none of them is natural. I wonder how much time the character designers spent to choose different shades of improbable greens, reds and purples. It really puts me off. Confucius said: These Japanese Student Councils have more power than the government Hahaha :D |
| Enjoying this a lot now, was turned off by the animation at first, but seeing it in 720p really shows off how nice it is. It is set in such a surreal world. |
| This show's mediocrity so far would be less annoying if every character didn't look like either a knife, a shovel, or a bug. Ikuhara's tropes are starting to get me a little bit comfortable just through repetition, but I can't help but be annoyed at the pointy character designs and see-through hair. I still wanna see how this turns out. |

I think that scene is intended to be symbolic rather than literal. Utena throwing her gown off and revealing herself in the prince getup is emblematic of her rejection of the feminine role that she was putting up with playing up until that point (and which she was clearly not comfortable with) and taking up the role of the masculine prince who saves the damsel in distress. As for Utena making a dress with the white tablecloth and draping Anthy with it, I interpret it as being emblematic of the traditional conception of the chivalrous man with whom the onus of protecting the chastity of the maiden who is on the verge of being violated lies. The colour white is associated with purity and virginity. The rose of white cloth on Anthy's left shoulder signifies that the maiden's chastity is safe and sound; the prince saved her from voluntary deflowerment. |

You're so fucking classy. <3 I'm still impressed by the series, although in a different way. Utena has definitely done some unexpected things that make me love her. She's quite the prince isn't she? I'm really enjoying this, maybe because I just take it at face value. I love the themes and symbols more than the plot is almost too serious. Though I think it can turn out really beautiful, what with world destruction and all that. The collapse of scenery and buildings in the opening is gorgeous. I would love to see more of that. |
