I used to be a shounen fanboy who only binge watch one piece, DBZ, bleach, naruto and others
(rarely watch shounen now cuz i'm not so much a part of the demographic anymore)

But then I discovered the harem genre, before i started it, i thought it was stupid but then after seeing 1 guy surrounded by hot beauties, so i got interested and watched a ton of harems, as i started running out of harems to watch, i was desperate and looked for other shows and opened up to various genres.

after 300+ shows i went for seasonal since i have nothing else to binge anymore.

How about you guys?

I don't watch any long-running series anymore, and only watch seasonal after the last eps available

It was when I discovered HorribleSubs back in 2010, before that I only watched non-airing. I was still using eMule around that time too, those were the days.

The first airing I watched was Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, I'll never forget. I used to comment on that weird comment box the HS site had.

They're a hot topic pretty much everywhere people talk about anime.

I don't watch them while airing, but still keep track of the info surrounding them, and then select those that I want to watch.

Well, since I wanted to join the community, I got exposed to anitubers and a great percentage of the discussion was revolving around the anime of the previous season/year, and so I started with winter 17

I think Kuroko no Basket was my first seasonal, but back then I wasn't a seasonal watcher.

Winter 2016 was the first season where I watched multiple series, it was also the season where I started to get into anime for real. Previously I got interested in OPM and due to it to Noragami, cause the the sequel aired during the same time. I never checked out the streaming sites, but then I did for the first time, saw many new releases, decided to pick up some series at random for the next season and that's how it eventually happened.

My first anime was Haikyuu, and coincidentally, the second season was still airing so I was watching that week by week when I eventually caught up. Then, a few months later, I started with BNHA and since that was still airing, I watched that week by week, too. The season after that was when I began watching seasonals.

People on MAL and facebook groups always keep talking about seasonals, so I started watching them regularly too the last season. I tried that before already in the Summer 2015 season, but I didn't like watching weekly and lost interest. Now I still don't really like it and I don't start the most interesting shows when they are airing so that I can binge them later*, but I try to keep up with at least some series.

* unless they're hyped and people keep spoiling current episodes and generally just won't shut up, like in cases of SnK or BnHA, better to watch these weekly, but I also re-watch them after they finish airing if I liked them

Don't really remember tbh.

Probably when I watched 1 or 2 episodes of Ao no Exorcist. Or when the ppl on FB can't shut up about whatever new show w/ waifus they are currently watching.

I'm not really sure, actually.

Probably when I started regularly watching anime a couple years or so back. Shrug.

When I got back into anime last year I was totally oblivious to the whole seasonal watch. I don't do it very often but I decided to keep up with BNHA S2 at first and pretty consistently kept up with it.

I to am more of a binge heavy person so once a week releases don't give me the completed feeling I desire. That said I think there is good in both styles of watching.

I watched everything my friends recommended to me and ended up getting bored.
I then realized that some of the seasonal anime looked interesting and I've been that way ever since

I took a long break from anime when I began college, in Fall 2015 I had spare time so I got a CrunchyRoll account. I started with 1-2 seasonals at a time, increased the load little by little, and here I am.

I was somewhat aware of seasonals in 2008, but I would watch once they finished and I didn't watch that many. I started to follow them a bit more consistently in 2010-2012 but then stopped again until 2016.

I think i started in summer 2009 - i remember watching tokyo magnitude 8.0 and aoi hana weekly. having an easier time with english subs over the years, i started watching more and more seasonals. navigating MAL and discovering these charts probably helped me a lot to get into the whole seasonal watching thing back then. before that, i don't remember having any interest in knowing what was coming out in japan.

I personally find a nice balance between watching what personally interests me in the current seasonal anime and binge watching random series that are interesting. I couldn't only watch what is only seasonal because then i wouldn't be able to watch my 10 hours of anime a day lol

I think it was around the end of 2016 when One Punch man was airing I started to see the most "popular" animes of the season. After that I started watching what I would find interesting to see

I rarely watch seasonals, that goes double if it's a series that I either know/think that I'll enjoy. Hate waiting for each episode because it's so suspenseful, so I just wait for the series to finish airing before I binge watch it. I think the first show I watched while it was airing was just a couple seasons ago, so I'm fairly new to this.

After finding MAL pretty much, which was shortly after simulcasts even became a thing. Before that I didn't have the overview or dedication to actively get into that stuff. Sure, I was watching some stuff while it was airing but I didn't even know that back then. All I knew was that it was currently being fansubbed because I just followed fansub groups. Only in retrospect I figured out that a lot of those shows back then where currently airing and just subbed with a delay. I always just assumed they were finished but unsubbed because that also was the case for a lot of shows. When you just follow fansub releases but not japanese release dates (because simulcasts aren't a thing and who cares about RAW releases when you don't speak japanese) it's hard to tell the difference especially if you never feel compelled to look into it.

But yeah in 2009/2010 simulcasting started and I think Spring 2010 was the first season where I actively watched seasonals (as in checking out the chart, picking what I'd watch and then watching them weekly). It was a good season too, with House of Five Leaves and Tatami Galaxy airing in the NoitaminA block. Made me a fan of that airing slot for a long time until they became more inconsistent in recent years.

Other than ones I was looking forward too like BnHA or SnK, I was just on Crunchyroll one day and a bunch of new shows started popping up so I started watching them. But I didn't really know they were seasonals or anything until I joined MAL.

back in 2010 i was talking to another anime watcher on aim who told me he did, so i just started following a few shows at a time using those old seasonal charts

before then i did catch a few anime as they were airing but i wasn't really following the seasons to see what was out

it also didn't help that i wasn't on MAL and had no real way of keeping up with episodes minus memory or writing it down somewhere, so there was also the fear of getting lost or not knowing when the next episode was out

but winter 2011 was my official start on following several seasonal anime.. i started with about 5 shows and just gradually increased the number i watched a season over time to where now its 25
