There's some good stuff if you look but it's become very oversaturated especially since anyone can get the equipment and a lot of people ride waves which makes it even more repetitive and bland. What's your thoughts

I like rap but it's not really my favorite type of music. I did go through a phase where I only listened to that though. Thankfully it didn't go as far as me making a mixtape.

This. If they decide to mix a bit of rap into something else then I don't mind, but otherwise I don't really like the majority of it.

I listen too it, but I listen to a lot of different types of music. I jump from genre to genre all the time.

Altough right now I listen to mainly my anime opening/ost playlist all the time, but it's not something I'd listen to in the car. Rap/hip hop and electronic (house, edm all that bs) is ussualy what I default too.

Really? The way that he went and made a pop track (or several) didn't sit with me very well. Then again, Eminem isn't my favorite rapper, I don't think Rap God hails from the heavens the way a lot of sheep think (myself excluded).

OT: Rap is definitely one of my top genres, and every time I'm in the car with my friends they be like, "what do you listen to, iSheep?" and I just tell them I listen to rap. Rap can get good if it's not performed by a lot of those no-flow nut jobs who only make sound with a hard-ass beat. Mainstream rappers like Logic, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, Wu-Tang, even Chance and Childish Gambino are coming out with some good tracks, but there's still a long way to go since rap is pretty much overcrowded with shit. Either that or some cameo artist like Juicy J gets busy swarming his crap in a Katy Perry song.

No joke, some people think if they listen to other people getting money, it automatically refers to them.

If new rap includes anything written in the past 5 years, then J. Cole tells a story from the perspective of the rich and the poor. This track's fire dawg, should've been a single, but I bet everyone was like 3deep5me when they heard it so they said "this shit sucks let's bump Gucci and not think about shit."

I'm not into it. There's no musical elements other than rhythm so I don't find any interest in it. The only time I'm cool with it is if it's mixed with a melody line, like Super Bass for example.

I dislike pretty much all of rap, save for a few songs.
Most of them just sounds like a bunch of words with no beat or something catchy to hook onto.
Doesn't even sound like music.

The only ones I enjoy are Can't Hold Us by Macklemore and 100 Black Coffins by Rick Ross.

There is definitely a lot of good rap out there, but there is also a lot of bad rap as well. I consider rap good when the lyrics are really good and can make you have to think about what they're saying more in depth. Rap is bad when it's really repetitive and such. Also there's a common misconception between "rap" music and "trap". Trap is usually what people don't like as it is often repetitive and the lyrics are usually pretty shit.

they're not very similar at all. wayne is, content-wise, the archetype of the stereotypical rapper (money, drugs, clothes, hoes, guns) but his flow's flexible as fuck (or was at his peak), he's funny, his wordplay is good and his verses in general used to be pretty fascinatingly intricate - he doesn't really have any competition between 05 and say 08, tho he peaks with carter 2, drought 3, dedication 2
idc bout 50 whatsoever.

and on topic, yeah I like rap. obviously there's a lot of bad rap - there's also a lot of bad singer songwriter, indie rock, regular rock, house, etc, etc, etc, ad infinitum. i think right now, this year, albums from chance the rapper, freddie gibbs, milo, kendrick, YOUNG THUG, mick jenkins, etc were all pretty outstanding.

the lyrics to most music are usually pretty shit/repetitive so i fail to see how that is a downside to rap
