| Yeah, pretty much every isekai deserves some hate, and you don't need to watch them to deliver it. The low ratings and generic synopses speak for themselves, but it's even worse when you consider the impact it has on the creators. Imagine spending years upon years dedicating yourself to the craft of drawing, animating, programming, or what have you; perfecting it so that you can try and be a part of the team that makes the next Gurren Lagann or Panty & Stocking. Instead, upon graduating and getting a job you get told you're going to use those talents to help pump out a lifeless and listless husk of an "anime" whose only fans will be social recluses that need a protagonist with as much life and personality as Barbie (or Ken, to be more precise) in order to smell the slightest whiff of humanity in their life. Isekai are nearly all a disgusting waste of time, energy, and human talent. |

| Well I try to determine whether a series sucks or not before risking investing time into it and getting disappointed. For example I'm never watching Re:Zero because it seems pretty shit, Subaru has the most punchable face in anime history and from what snippets I've seen the other characters don't look all that either. Or Makeine, the animation looks cute but man a series revolving about being an emotional tampon is really something. Hating on something because of the fanbase isn't going to help you though, IMO. However I've learnt now to stop buying into seasonal hype so there's that, almost never works out. |

| I know I'm diverging on the topic and talking more about just not giving series a chance in general, but if an author/director's style puts me off I'll steer clear from their other works tbh. For example I avoided Cowboy Bebop for the longest time because Champloo was mediocre IMO, the episode storylines were generic as were the characters. Lazarus suffers from similar problems so maybe I made the correct play. However Bebop could still be great; although I spoiled Spike's backstory and that's the same generic crap I hated in Champloo, the clips I've seen so far all have amazing soundtrack visuals and vibe. Especially the movie clips for obvious reasons, I rewatched that Spike vs Electra fight on youtube so many times. Likewise, I dropped Monster near the climax because I had gripes with Urasawa's writing style. Gave 20th century boys a try and got hints of the same issues from the first few chapters. I'm not trying to say this is an effective approach though, imagine dropping Yu Yu Hakusho then deciding you won't read/watch Hunter x Hunter BIG mistake |

| I don't watch isekai but I don't HATE them per se I think, to my recollection, there are only 2 shows I've hated before I saw a single second of them: Frieren - I don't watch ("high medieval European" or whatever the term is) fantasy either. My friend asked me if I was gonna see it when it first started picking up traction. I asked her what it was about and she said, and I quote, And my immediate response was "that sounds like shit" And then it was heralded as the Greatest Anime of All Time I did eventually see this one and I was right, it did sound like shit because I didn't like it If anything, it's worse than how she described it because I was envisioning a (more pretentious form of a) KEY show but in a giant grassy field instead of a high school. Ghost Stories (dub) - I don't respect this show as a work of art. Imagine if AoT was done in stupid goofy German accents and made Nazi jokes and homophobic jokes about Eren and Armin every 20 seconds. That might be "fine" for a YouTube abridged show from 2012 but as the official dub of a show (at least one that didn't have that tone from the outset)? Fuck you and the horse you rode in on EDIT: A couple of clarifications 1. "before I saw a single second of them" is an overexaggeration, especially for the Ghost Stories dub because trust me, people have tried to show me clips of that trash. But the point is I had never sat down and watched them before I grew to resent them. 2. I said I imagined Frieren was a more pretentious KEY show set in a fantasy world before watching and that is true but if you check my anime list, I actually enjoy KEY anime. Hell, as of writing, my signature is from a KEY show. Between being pretentious, a fantasy show, and "KEYcore", being KEYcore wouldn't have been bad on its own. |

Wistoria Wand Wand Sword season 2! I hated the first season so much (it's a shame I watched it all the way through) that I ranked it as my worst anime. But since you asked about an anime I haven't watched yet, I’d say Attack on Titan (please don't hate me, I know how many people love AOT). It has too many seasons for me to even start... and then I got completely spoiled on the story. It's not like Wistoria where I say I hate the story. It's more like I just don't want to watch it anymore because I already know the whole story anyway.
