Well, I'm glad that got sorted out without too much violence in the end. We got reveals about the revolution, Abel finding his place, etc.

I think this was the safest way to do a season finale that came from the previous episode. Mia had a close encounter with death but her scenes felt more comedic than anything over dramatic. This episode...was entertaining although I feel slightly underwhelmed. It was kinda nice to see Mia with everyone together like a family though.

Mia has really come a long way since that first episode.

With the help of Anne and others, Mia managed to stop the duel between Abel and Sion. After confirming Abel's safety, she rejoiced at the reunion with him. Subsequently, it was revealed that the disturbance was caused by the runaway of the intelligence agency "Wind Raven" from the Sankland Kingdom and a mysterious man named Gem. Furthermore, it became clear that Gem was also connected to the revolution in the Tearmoon Empire that occurred in a previous timeline. All of this was in an effort to avoid the fate of a guillotine execution. Struggling with this determination, Mia, along with her companions, set out towards the destined adversary.

Abel being a bit jealous was hilarious. But hey, it ended up with him finally calling Mia by her first name. The more I hear that OP, the catchier it gets. I'm seriously going to miss it. Seeing how much Mia has grown, it's amazing. She's totally redeemed herself. And that scene where Mia kicks Sion's butt? Lmao, even though it didn't actually hurt him. Poor Mia, putting in all that effort for nothing. Anne is always looking out for Mia, it's sweet. That horse soap worked wonders for Mia's hair, but it was a shame it looked like she was peeing. Still, she got to give that guy a good kick. Lol.

I love that Mia is a mix of selfishness and selflessness. I'm really proud of her for wanting others to get a second chance like she did—it's fair, right? But leaving them with Rafina for three years might be worse than the guillotine. Finally, Mia's back home and can finally dig into all of Anne's goodies and Riora's big meat, of course.

Mia's not alone anymore. She's got people she cares about, and they care about her. She made the most out of her second shot at life.

The feud between Sion and Abel, Mia is thankful that their case was resolved, but when it comes to romance, she stumbles quite the lot. But what has Sion's business got to do with them?

Considering the circumstances that brought Mia to the guillotine, Sion now stands as reason for grounds to be executed, but Abel reassured that this conflict can actually be resolved through Mia, who knows the way to navigate them through. But still, Sion is partially responsible, and Mia...practiced her wheelhouse kick for her showcase for Sion to atone for his sins...yelp, the Wisdom of the Empire being crude, is still lovable. To find the rebels' leader, and simultaneously the one who orchestrated her guillotine execution, it looks as if Jem and his men were routed successfully. But just when things are looking good, Mia falling into a dungeon only to find Jem, she's in legit danger.

Even though Jem's plan has failed, Mia is really the one in trouble, she wet herself, but Anne knew about her true intention. But for Mia to valiantly defeat Jem by kicking his balls literally, she's just the kicker to finally end the farce. For all her efforts to avoid the guillotine since her reincarnation, Mia has finally found the timeline that she wants to live in: the present one where her enemies became friends, and sentence Jem to Rafina's torture, this ending the Remno conflict.

The picnic together, certainly reminds Mia of how she has restored order to her Tearmoon Empire, but time will tell if she can honour her promise.

Great show, couldn't have ended any better!

Certainly an amusing and eventful journey. from alone and condemned to death to living the best life with friends.

Jem’s defeat is the best bad guy defeat this year.

Well one crisis averted and a lot of trouble in the future prevented things where heading in the right way.
And shamefully the anime is already over i really enjoyed it. lot's of funny things going on and the misunderstandings made it great.
The episode itself was ok and at least they got one of the corrupt nobles and his followers.

I wonder if we will see more of this in the future tho.

Wow, they actually made this final episode a grand finale. btw, I love that BGM/Soundtrack at the end. Good job guys! That's one of the most epic way of concluding a story or season.

Mia finally made it to the end of the story or so I thought. So there's actually more of this than meets the eye and I'm rather ecstatic to see more of the world building of Mia's adventures.

I always find this series hilarious but at the same time, saddening. Another best hidden gem of this season ending before the end of the year? I am truthfully saddened but grateful for this wonderful series.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Mia and Abel defo would make a great couple. Its nice that Monica's report did reach the right person in the end. At least in this timeline Mia is no longer alone and whats more she's finally bringing the conspiracy into the light. Who would had thought that Mia's kick would end up being the key to stopping Jem though. Lol Mr G in the background. Despite her many mishaps along the way Mia's hard work really paid off this time round and secured the friendships of countless people who were far from friendly in her orginal timeline. A warm and positive world is the best reward for Mia after such hard work. A cheery blossom viewing picnic was the best way to end the season with. Overall a beautiful and satisfying end to the season.

And this is what happens when an author gets Queen Marie-Antoinette, turns her into a cute and lovely birdbrain princess called Mia and her history into a fairy tale-like redemption story. Very good ending episode of a very good series! Rooting for a second season only to meet a certain birdbrain princess again, knowing it would not be needed because the story is done.

And so we end with Mia's horse shampoo saving the day. Just as planned.

You know, early on I thought this was gonna be a bit of a change with regards to this "reformed Villainess" anime subgenre that's popped up in recent years. Unlike in a lot of those series, the Villainess here was NOT someone else reincarnated into her body and put in a bad situation. This time it was the same person from start to finish. So initially that made Mia far less sympathetic than the others to me. But that idea was pretty quickly dropped in favor of the running gag that was at the heart of this series: Mia does something and it accidentally gets misinterpreted as something brilliant and everyone ends up loving her even more for it. If this were The Simpsons you might say she "pulled a Homer" over and over and over again. It also changed in this very last episode with the implication that even in her previous life she really wasn't at fault for all the bad things that befell her kingdom. At least not completely. In hindsight it makes her relationship with Sion more interesting and were this a tonally darker series I'd be curious where it might go, but it's not and that's okay.

These observations may sound like criticism, but I don't mean them to be. I actually loved that this show took the light, goofy, bubbly if repetitive approach. I watched three Saturday shows this season which all lumped together in my mind because they had at least ostensibly imperfect, cold, and somewhat unlikable female leads: This, Survive By Using Potions, and Apothecary Diaries. By the end I really only ended up feeling that way still about one of the three female leads, and it wasn't this or Apothecary Diaries lol. Pretty early on this became a fun and easy and silly watch for me and even as the drama intensified that overall tone never really changed. I mean for goodness' sake there was an anthropomorphic guillotine! I loved the horse shampoo running gag, and my only regret is we didn't get to see Mia marry Abel as I assume will happen. I haven't seen much chatter about this series so I'm skeptical it was popular enough for one, but if it gets a second season I'll absolutely watch it. Solid 7/10.

Very much enjoyed this series. Despite being something of a one-trick pony with the misunderstandings surrounding Mia, it managed to hold my attention throughout with an interesting cast, character development, and a story with an actual beginning and ending (it feels wrong to even mention this, but with so many other shows that simply stop somewhere in the middle, I feel like I must). 8/10 in my book.

I didn't want this to end, easily my favorite new show of the season, love the goofball that is Mia, there was actual character progression and the story was engrossing, with so many shows getting 2nd seasons left and right it would be a sin if this one doesn't get it.

Authentic art 🚬.

I had a lot of fun with this anime, at first it didn't convince me but as the episodes went by I ended up loving it, what a hidden gem of the season.

The conclusion is good, it gives rise to wanting to continue with the story at the same time that it gives a good closure to this "arc" of Mia avoiding the guillotine by all possible means; very good indeed.

If this anime ever had a second season, I would definitely watch it, 10/10.

PS: I'm going to miss the maniacal laughter that Mia would sometimes throw out of nowhere xd, Sumire Uesaka did a spectacular job in this anime.

EP 12

Oh look its ep 12 already
While I watched the entire anime 12 eps in about a week, I dont think it really changes the issues I have.

A really strange episode

Aaand the ep is over already

Like i'll be honest guys. like.
Fundamentally the question that boils down to is
Is mia good enough to carry the whole anime?
Mia is cute, but to me the answer is no.
Like they had the big swerve in ep 9-12 but the first 8 episodes, i'll be honest, were just a bit too boring
Ep 1 was really depressing of course so i gave it a pass
At first i thought ep 2 was just a bit odd, but after seeing ep 3456 and i was just so bored in those eps
Ep 78 were like somewhat ok but by then the damage had been done, and fundamentally i dont think much has changed.

I will say that i might or might not have taken a lot of screenshots from this anime. though the artstyle and direction choice is a bit weird
There are some interesting moments here and there but i dunno really, small moments here and there dont really change the overall thing

One of the comments i had was that, the anime was never like super comedic or super dramatic for the most part, so i just didnt really feel much while i was sitting here
The other main issue of course is the characters, or rather. the first thing is just too many characters

I think it says something when I have not checked the voice actors of the other characters since ep 1.

A part of me does wonder that if they get a s2 what will actually happen
So presumably the story still continues because of something

Characters:

While if you think about it, it is kind of legit, if mia could time travel to the past to change the future, whats stopping other people from doing that as well? I mean its one of those things you shouldnt think too much about, but ironic considering the nature of the anime.

@CocoaGalaxy That's literally what Mia mentions this episode. She's afraid of anyone dying and coming back to fuck her over so she tries to make sure everyone doesn't hate her or gets killed. This informs her enlightened selfishness where she pursues happiness and other people's happiness for the sake of her own. That is the real Wisdom of the Empire.

But I do like how they end things off here. In a sense this follows the WN more than the LN in terms of who gets introduced, cause guess what there's more characters who are equally as important in the future plot. After all we're 11 volumes in English and 15+ in Japanese. The story can continue, but honestly this is Mia's Good End timeline. She'll just have to work harder for the Golden Ending.

Problem solving is a bit simple, but the end on the whole is good enough. I just wish that Mia's "appreciation of this timeline" mental had developed throughout the episodes, then it would make her decision in this ep much memorable.

This show is a winner in my book.

My favorite thing about the show might be that sweet, out-of-tune recorder melody that plays from time to time, like when Mia is asking Abel to drop the titles in this episode. I just find it hysterical whenever I hear it, and I think it perfectly encapsulates the tone of this show.

This really deserves a Season 2. It feels like we're only getting started.

anyway, easily one of my favorites this season, seeing all the effort that Mia puts into her new life, the way she turned almost all her past enemies into allies (through misunderstandings but that's another topic), how much cuteness and elegance she radiates in every waking moment (or not) ... and ofc, all the DESUWA <3

An excellent final episode, one that wraps up everything and has a wholesome ending with a picnic. Exactly what you like to see. Oh and they didn't waste any time with an ending again, love to see it.

That part at the end about Princess Mia beginning to uncover a dark history is intriguing to say the least. I guess we'd find out what they mean by that if we get a second season (which I hope does happen).

Overall, very much enjoyed this show, and will quite miss it. The animation is pretty good, as I would expect from SILVER LINK, and the story was excellent too. We got some great character development which is lovely to see too. I give this show an 8/10.

This was one of the better shows of the season and one of the higher quality otome adaptations thus far.

Honestly the recent otome/villainess stories that have been adapted after Bookworm and Bakarina have mostly been boring. The Fall 2023 season brought some fun back into genre with WataOshi and Tearmoon, but its the latter that stayed enjoyable all the way through.

Watching this made it clear to me how important a cute and charming protagonist is to stories of this genre. There are some titles that try doing the OP isekai MC schtick but with a female protag, or have hot guys fawn over the plain female lead for no reason. Even though all are just wish-fulfillment at the end of the day, only the ones like Tearmoon are any fun because its easy to get behind how things always conveniently work out for the MC when you as the audience are just as in love with them as the other characters in the story.

The thing this story did well is the setup of having Mia's past life failures guide her actions in the present. Its done in most other villainess reincarnation but here she doesnt do a complete 180 in personality. She remains her same spoiled self but now she makes better choices and, despite the running joke of her actions being driven by selfishness, unconsciously grows as a person compared to her past self. Its more believable than having her go from destructive villainess to altruistic saint right from the get go like other series do with their MCs

(not that Mia was ever evil to begin with, nor does it seem like the author will have Mia grow out of her bratty nature even by the end. Its part of her charm after all)

Anyway heres hoping for another season and for more good series of this genre to become anime.
