| I am back to this thread after around 1 to one and a half years. Finished my degree, got a nice job in my hometown and just when i was settling down as a salaryman, i fancy coming back to watching anime. And the first thing i see is ruroni kenshin getting dubbed. I had doubts about my decision of restarting anime but those doubts are no more xD Very excited to catchup to last year and looking forward to the new releases this year. So many new seasons of the anime i used to watch got a release OMG! Many many thanks to kenny and animeprime for keeping this thread active and alive for so many years. Its been about three years since i found this thread and will keep on following. Cheers u guys ^^ |

| We do not usually include unconfirmed shows for HIDIVE in their respective seasons, as HIDIVE typically does not start its dub premieres in the same season. Instead, they usually initiate their dub premieres towards the end of the season, in the next season, or even later. Unfortunately, Tsurune Season 2 did not receive a dub, and the movie is also set to have a sub-only release. |

@23feanor Based on what has been revealed about other shows like when they are ending and new ones are starting, @wjbraden made an excel sheet with a prediction of when AoT would arrive using a process of elimination, since Toonami usually takes 2 weeks at the end of the year to marathon shows, which only leaves January 6, 2024 remaining. Since the second episode is longer than the first, the special should take up one extra slot than what appears here.  ----- The premiere episode of Phantom of the Idol has been released on HIDIVE! ------ KidRyan said: The more I talk to the Crunchyroll Store, the more it comes across that they don't actually know the answer. Looking at the shortened runtime of some of the episodes compared to the sub version, they might be censored like the Dragon Quest episodes. I am not sure when the BBC iplayer plans to add more episodes. | @SiliconDon Its funny knowing that One Piece's anime adaptions are gonna out live us all at this stage. Bring on the year 2075 when they annocue there remaking the remake of One Piece. Just fyi @thatoneguy2440 those delays you quoted were for the US Thanksgiving break not Christmas. Each year Christmas usually has a knock on delays of 1-3 weeks more than Thanksgiving depending on the Dub while staff take some needed and deserved time off. Delays will likely start happening from the week of the 25th with most shows being off till the first or second week of January some can be longer depends on the cast and crew. Its the same approximate delay every year |

This is a list of all the Funimation anime transferred to Crunchyroll in 2023: There haven't been any transfers since the One Piece dub in July. Fall 2023 Stats Released Dubbed Anime - Fall 2023 Finished Simudubbed Anime - Fall 2023 47 Total Dubs Completed - Fall 2023 24 Crunchyroll Anime 5 Netflix Anime 5 Sentai Filmworks Anime 4 Aniplex of America Anime 3 Discotek Media Anime 1 Adult Swim Anime 1 Bushiroad Anime 1 Sanrio Anime 1 The Pokemon Company International Anime 1 TMS Entertainment USA Anime 1 VIZ Media Anime Final Statistics for Fall 2023: In Fall 2023 there were 47 English Dubs completed, which is way below the average 61 anime per season that 2022. There were 18 Released Dubs and 28 Finished Simuldubs. There were 7 dubbed films and 40 dubbed shows (only anime titled as a movie on MAL are considered films, the rest I am considering shows). Fall 2023 shows (not films) had the equivalent of about 282 normal length released dubbed episodes and 335 normal length simuldubbed episodes (= 617 episodes). For those wondering where the monthly stats posts went, I decided to list the monthly stats here instead in a very compressed way. October 2023 - 3 Released Anime + 18 Simuldubbed Anime = 21 Anime November 2023 - 10 Released Anime + 6 Simuldubbed Anime = 16 Anime December 2023 - 7 Released Anime + 3 Simuldubbed Anime = 10 Anime Just as a side note, I only included entries here that were fully dubbed, meaning that all the episodes in the MAL entry it corresponds to were dubbed. This excludes shows like Boruto: Naruto Next Generations which was dubbed by VIZ Media (255/293), One Piece which was dubbed by Crunchyroll (1048/????), Pokémon Horizons: The Series which was dubbed by The Pokemon Company International (6/??), and Attack on Titan: The Final Season - Final Chapters (1/2). Additionally, keep in mind that this only counts shows from when they were finished (with the exception of the 50 Case Closed episodes, since it's unknown if more episodes will be dubbed and it's unlikely that they will dub them all. A similar thing was done with the first 49 episodes of Gintama in 2019. Since it's the end of the year now, I retroactively added Case Closed to the stats for the Winter 2023 season since the batch released in March). Also, this isn't including theatrically released films that haven't yet been released in physical or digital formats, like THE FIRST SLAM DUNK, Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning, and The Boy and the Heron. Lastly, this list doesn't include the many special episodes/OVAs/recap films/etc. that get dubbed. It's just for TV series and movies for the most part. This also doesn't include "adult anime." Remakes and reboots are allowed as well as ONA series and OVA series. There may be a couple of exceptions, but that is the general rule. So tallying up all of the anime in 2023 there have been 185 completed dubs, which is only slightly above the 178 dubs we got in the first 3 quarters in 2022. | Might take an educated guess off context and say that the Hyakkano dub team took this Christmas/New Year's week off and will be back next week. Already scratching at myself like a crack addict as is waiting for Season 2. |

| 2023 Full Year Dub Stats Split by Season and Released/Simuldubbed Anime Split by Season and Amount of Anime per Licensor Split by First Half and Second Half of 2023 Final Statistics: With 185 completed anime over 365 days, that is the equivalent of 1 anime dub completed about every 2 days. Winter 2023 had 31 dubbed shows and 11 dubbed films. Spring 2023 had 39 dubbed shows and 6 dubbed films. Summer 2023 had 46 dubbed shows and 5 dubbed films. Fall 2023 had 40 dubbed shows and 7 dubbed films. In Total that equals out to 156 dubbed shows and 29 dubbed films, which is about 1 dubbed show every 2.35 days and 1 dubbed film every 12.6 days. Winter 2023 shows had the equivalent of about 153 normal length released episodes and 238 normal length simuldubbed episodes (= 391 episodes). Spring 2023 shows had the equivalent of about 112 normal length released episodes and 530 normal length simuldubbed episodes (= 642 episodes). Summer 2023 shows had the equivalent of about 324 normal length released episodes and 420 normal length simuldubbed episodes (= 744 episodes). Fall 2023 shows had the equivalent of about 282 normal length released episodes and 335 normal length simuldubbed episodes (= 617 episodes). In total, that is the equivalent of about 871 normal length released dubbed episodes and 1,523 normal length simuldubbed episodes (totaling 2,394 episodes) over the 156 dubbed shows (not films). The animation studio with the most dubs completed this year is TMS Entertainment with 13 anime. In second place and third place is a tie between J.C. Staff and Production I.G. with 8 dubs each. Fun fact, these 3 studios have placed in the top 3 spots 3 years in a row now but in different orders. Full Year Statistics for the Usual Seasonal Anime Dubbers 2023 Monthly Statistics January - 18 anime February - 10 anime March - 14 anime April - 27 anime May - 8 anime June - 10 anime July - 28 anime August - 10 anime September -13 anime October - 21 anime November - 16 anime December - 10 anime Average - 15.42 anime per month (a 27.5% decrease from last year's 20.33 anime per month) Total Anime 2017: 163 anime (96 released + 67 simuldubbed) 2018: 176 anime (105 released + 71 simuldubbed) 2019: 177 anime (94 released + 83 simuldubbed) 2020: 161 anime (91 released + 70 simuldubbed) 2021: 213 anime (119 released + 94 simuldubbed) 2022: 245 anime (115 released + 130 simuldubbed) 2023: 185 anime (76 released + 109 simuldubbed) Total: 1320 anime (696 released + 624 simuldubbed) The dub decrease from 2022 to 2023 is about a 27.5% decrease. In other words, 2023 would have needed another season of anime to reach the dub output that 2022 had. In fact, 2022 had more complete dubs (245) than 2023 had complete dubs, incomplete dubs, and minor OVA entries (185+33+22=240). So yeah, 2023 was a large step backwards. In 2023, about 77 (41.6%) of the anime were brand new shows getting dubbed, and about 108 (58.4%) of the anime were sequels/prequels/remakes/etc. There were many more dubbed sequels than originals this year. Backlog Dub Stats The downward trend of backlog dubs appears to be continuing. 2021 had 57 dubs which aired before 2020, with a combined total of 382 backlogged years. 2022 had 40 dubs which aired before 2021, with a combined total of 310 backlogged years (which includes both the longest gap for a movie (53 years) and a TV series (51 years). 2023 had 29 dubs which aired before 2022, with a combined total of 274 backlogged years. Dub Records Set in 2023 1: Largest amount of dubs produced exclusively by Discotek Media (which excludes TMS dubs) (7 dubs) 2: Largest completed backlog dub in history with The Prince of Tennis (178 episodes) Entries which aren't on the list because of being a OVA/special/etc. For those that want to see everything listed neatly on a spreadsheet, here you go. I also added the dubbing studio behind each one (some might be wrong) and added in the 33 unfinished dubs of 2023. Is the new Seven Deadly Sins Anime gonna get dubbed and also Shaman Kings Sequel, Flower?
| @Shadow21Walker Seven Deadly Sins spin-off has been licensed by Netflix so yes that will get dubbed doesnt have a release date yet. Shaman Kings Sequel has yet to be picked up by anyone, not even Netflix, it might still get picked up by them and dubbed later like with the Seven Deadly Sins spin-off or it go the way of Edens Zero S2 and be forgot about completely by Netflix and randomly licensed and sub licensed which would kill any chances of a dub. There is no way of knowing right now. |
